Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Quote:

U.S. Special Forces parachuted overnight into Somalia from fixed-wing planes, then advanced on foot to a compound holding two kidnapped international aid workers and freed them, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

The nine gunmen holding the hostages -- an American and a Dane -- were killed, the officials said.

I notice our righties been cheerfully ignoring this (of COURSE they wouldn't!), so I thought I'd bring it to their attention. Makes me giggle to hear the candidates yattering their lies about Obama and how he "doesn't love" America, in the face of his having succeeded in getting Bin Laden (about whom Bush had remarked he didn't care anymore), helping liberate Libya with no "boots on the ground" and in cooperation with our allies (as opposed to TWO ten-year wars costing us billions and soldiers), and now had our guys rescue kidnapped aid workers. Rhetoric goes a long way with those drooling for red meat, of course.

I LOVED his "good job tonight" slid in there while he was greeting people...Obama must have been chortling inside, knowing the rescue had been successful and knowing virtually nobody else would hear about it until the next day. Hee, hee, hee.

I'm actually surprised the Repubs haven't found a way to diss it yet...guess they're too busy on the campaign trail or haven't figured out how yet. You know, like Libya, where first they were pissed he didn't go in fast enough, then once he did, said we shouldn't have been involved at all. Their contortions are so amusing, but I sometimes wonder they don't get a headache, having them so up their asses...

(poke, poke)

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

Objectively, you can't deny that the timing was anything less than suspect.

And point of fact, if the US military were called in for EVERY kidnapping of a US citizen, around the world, they'd probably never get any sleep.

Bravo on the completed mission. And if the final word was his to give, then due props to the Commander in Chief.

WHOZIT

We're suppose to pat Barry on the ass everytime the Military makes HIM look good? It reminds me of the film "Mr Roberts", he gets a palm tree and they do all the work.

But seriously, Somalia. "The government of Somalia." Which one do they mean, the one that steals all the humanitarian supplies? The one that evicts entire villages at gunpoints? The child soldiers? Maybe all the warlords that do all of the above?

The government of Somalia told us "good job, those humanitarians needed saving! Send over some more so we can hold them ransom."

Don'tcha love that when the military does something they disapprove of, it's "Obama" all the way, but let the military do something he ordered which is GOOD, and it's him taking credit for what the military did? Sad, desperate bunch. It's to laugh. I have no doubt the timing was at least partly political, Presidents have done that forever, but I can't help smiling at how he must have enjoyed knowing what had happened the night of the SOTU.
