or at least anti- Palentinian, anti- Obama.

Funny thing: Barrack Hussein Obama doesn't seem to be pro-Israel enough for Perry.

And today, Ol' Hussein Obama tells the UN that Palestinians deserve a state.

Hello,

I think the Palestinians should probably have their own state, since they want one.

I notice you enjoy using the name Hussein, bolding it in some places, excluding the first name in others. Does this portion of the president’s name have a special significance to you?

You haven't noticed by now? They love (especially PN, who adds "dictator" to his name) using his middle name...the implication is obvious. Silly, disrespectful, but obvious.

The Palestinians OBVIOUSLY should have their own state, it's been obvious for a long time. US backing of Israel has helped keep it from happening, and in my opinion we need a President who isn't as under Israel's thumb as all have been thus far. Obama made the first tentative steps away from Israel and to a more unbiased stand, but not by much and he won't dare push further. Too many political (and financial) reasons to stick with Israel, however atrociously they may behave.

Hello,

I see. You remember the uproar over the President’s supposed Muslim leanings by those in the Republican party, and are now mocking their turnabout as they claim a stance that one should not hold too much affinity towards Israel.

In other words, if not holding fast to Israeli interests is considered a plus, then the current president holds this quality.

Just went back to the Palestinian state thread that was running here last week. I thought that perhaps these 2 speeches were an interesting muddying of the waters on the subject.
N.B.-- I didn't follow that other thread closely-- thought it ran longer and hotter than it did. The Israel/Palestine thing ran for a while here last year, pretty hot...

I don't know what pro-Israel is anymore. It used to mean supporting Israel, now it seems to mean supporting this stupid war, which is not good for Israel. Israel used to live in relative peace with its neighbors. Our large scale mideast war, which we will lose, is likely going to end is Israel being crushed. I would think any serious supporter of Israel would need to look at the situation somewhat objectively and start supporting someone who might stabilize relations with her Muslim neighbors. In particular, I find it disturbing that Syria and Turkey have basically cut off relations with the jewish state, and Egypt is weakening. Back when the biggest threats were Gaza and Lebanon, things looked reasonably safe, but any one of those three, when you figure in Syria's Russian backing could launch a million strong invasion, against which Israel could do what? Nuke someone? I think you don't want to do that when Russia is on the other side. It's pretty hopeless. I think it's time to put down the guns and start talking.

As for Americans, we should sit down and shut up. We're not helping.

Actually, Palestinians lobbing missiles into civilian areas by the 10,000's is what's helped keep them from having their own state. Not US backing of Israel.

Hello,

Perhaps once they have actual independence, in their own actual country, with their own actual leadership, then the International Community can properly hold them to task for any acts of war. At the moment you have a mob railing from the ghettos, which is impossible to control or have any expectations from. When they are a country instead of a mob, I expect the behavior will be very different.

I think we'll see two very different stories. Gaza will thrive under independence and become a major trading partner with Israel. The West Bank will become a poor economically subjugated territory of someone else, like Jordan or Saudi Arabia.

I think that there is a complexity being missed here. Auraptor is half right, and Niki is half right. The US support for Israel is creating an opportunity for despotic manipulators like the Saudis to support the other side, which is what is leading them to lob missiles at Israel, because that is what muslim leaders want, because war against Israel is a great rallying cry for Islamic unity, particularly for extremists. The Saudis, who last I checked enslave palestinians themselves, no more are interested in a palestinian free state than the US or Europe were keen on independent African states.

If I had any faith in my country I would advise that the US start supporting Palestine. While this may seem illogical, I think it would work. The palestinians lob bombs because the Saudis, and also Iranians, Egyptians, Syrians, etc. tell them to, and because they depend upon those people for assistance. If they depended on us for assistance, they would be more likely to behave in a manner that we would like, namely for them to respect Israel and leave it alone.

Additionally, Israel would be less prone to invade a palestine that had US support.

Seems I remember them going there, standing at the site of what was gonna be Gaza International Airport or some such. For whatever it's worth.

The power of denial is strong with you two.

The PNC's initial charter denied Israel's right to exist, and the PNA, along w/ the actions of many Palestinians themselves, have carried on this position.

Kwickie, I take it , from your comments, it's YOUR opinion that simply being muslim is enough for these people to resort to mindless violence.

That's a sad and narrow minded view, imo. And one I do not share.

Such hatred for the Jews isn't innate, it must be taught to an entire generation. Which sadly, is exactly what's been taking place in that part of the world. Parents instill into the little minds of their own children , the glory and honor it is do murder innocent civilians, while giving your own life, for the good of " Palestine ". Such hatred, such contempt, cannot so easily be switched off, simply because a paper is signed, a flag is raised, and a country is formed. Anyone who thinks that a populace raised on a steady diet of wanting to annihilate their neighbor will simply forget all they've been indoctrinated with, and happily join the community of peaceful nations, is one who is utterly naive.

Bush did similar gestures, like showing his support for palestinian elections and even endorsing the hamas victory results, but that's not really support. The palestinians need a good anti-aircraft system and a network of trade to be competitive. I didn't see us on the donor list, so, sure, every once in a while we go out and wave a tentacle in their direction, but then again, so does Israel.

From Wikipedia
Quote:

The airport was built with funding from Japan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Germany and designed by Moroccan architects (modeled after Casablanca airport) and engineers funded by Morocco's King Hassan II. The total cost was $86 million. After a year of construction, it opened on 24 November 1998; attendees at the opening ceremony included Yasser Arafat and US President Bill Clinton. At the time, the opening of the airport was described as evidence of progress toward Palestinian statehood.[5] The airport was twinned with Mohammed V International Airport, in Casablanca, Morocco.

The radar station and control tower were destroyed by Israel Defense Forces aircraft in 2001 after the start of the al-Aqsa Intifada, and bulldozers cut the runway apart in January 2002.[6][7]

Facilities within the terminal building included:
* VIP Lounge
* Baggage Area
* Customs and Immigration
* Two Restaurants
* Medical Facilities
* First Aid Clinic
* Bank
* Post Office
* Tourist Office
* Security Office

The airport included 19 other buildings:

* Fuel Stations - Palestinian Petroleum Corporation
* Aircraft Hangars
* ATS Communication Tower - destroyed
* Passenger Services
* Cargo Terminals
* Airline Operations (Ground Services)
* Fire and Rescue
* Parking Lot
* Maintenance Workshop
* ATC Watchtower/Control Tower (28 metres (92 ft) in height)

Dunno, just sounds to me like an act of terrorism.

Hello,

Be serious. Of course they are not going to fall in love with Israel. But they won't be able to keep launching rocket attacks either. The International Community has very different expectations from countries than they do from mobs. Treaties and Alliances apply to countries, not mobs. Mobs have nothing to lose. Countries do.

Most every country in the Mideast hates Israel, but only a mob can strike at them with impunity.

Anthony, you never learn, do you? Any suggestion such as "At the moment you have a mob railing from the ghettos, which is impossible to control or have any expectations from" falls on deaf ears on the right, accurate tho' it may be...remember, to encourage war, you make the other guy seem less human. Easier to hate them that way. None of our righties will ever view Palestinians any other way.

Given how much effort Raptor has gone to in order to repeatedly point out the atrocities of Muslim terrorists and claim Islam is a violent religion, it's amusing that he should ascribe to Mike what is PRECIESLY his own belief, "that simply being muslim is enough for these people to resort to mindless violence".
