How very libertarian of him. I'm shocked.

And Kwickie can't pass reading comprehension 101.

I stated the exact opposite of what he claims I believe.

So you're saying you don't believe women are people?

Not sure how that's really a better position for you to be in, but if that's what you believe, you'll be very welcome and at home in the Taliban.

Shit, you ask me, that *IS* what they're saying, what they've been saying all along.

And their actions merely prove it.

Yup - once in a while they actually let the mask slip a bit, and say what they really mean.

I brought up miscarriages because you equated abortion to child abuse. My argument, and I am sorry you didn't get what I was saying, was that fetuses are not treated as children generally, especially in early pregnancy. To me that describes the flaw in your argument.

Miscarriages: I think most women who have them are disappointed. My friend Sarah found out she was pregnant and then miscarried the next day. Since she wasn't very far along at all there wasn't a easy-to-recognize body to bury, but it did make her sad because she and her husband were trying for a baby. Since then they had a baby boy who is healthy and developing regularly, no trouble in the pregnancy until the very end and that got sorted out. He's two months old now.

Ultrasounds: I've never heard of them being detrimental until today reading this thread. I doubt that one or two is going to hurt a baby as long as they are short and sweet. It is encouraged to get one at some point during a pregnancy here in the US so the doctor can check to see that things are going fine and make sure that the birth will be handled apropriately etc. One can choose to be told the sex of the baby or not. Sarah chose not to be told so it was a surprise for her and Rodney when the baby came out. Me and Sarah somehow knew it would be a boy though.

I agree that forcing a woman to get a vaginal ultrasound is too much and invasive of her rights, this new law is too intense. I agree with Happy that a waiting period and a tad of counseling makes sense, but not a required vaginal ultrasound, ug.

As for good news I heard from someone in my Browncoat group here that there is a new thing whereby women don't have to pay a copay for birth control anymore, now that's good news, making preventative controception more available to those who want to prevent pregnancy thus meaning less of this abortion problem.
