DREAMTROVE

I have a feeling about this, "some stories are there to waste your time."

The Birther story is not dumb, it's moronic. It's so dumb that arguing against it is also dumb. Acknowledging its existence is a waste of time. It's sort of like arguing about Charlie Sheen or Paris Hilton.

We have a huge amount of information to deal with an are faced with more threats that I would say easily anyone since WWII, and we have to face them.

Who gives a damn where the president was born? Say he's an African Al Qaeda operative, no one is about to remove him from power, they don't want to, and they probably couldn't even if they did. Skipping over my own take that this whole story is just trumped up, so to speak, it doesn't matter anyway.

Anyone remember Bush is AWOL? It ended in Dan Rather getting fired. No one at the white house denied anything that Rather said, he was just reading it off of a printed copy and not the original, and someone from the white house even said as much. The point was NO ONE CARED.

Obama could be a robot from Mars. He's in charge until they don't want him in charge. Within 20 seconds of them not wanting him in charge he will be no longer in charge. I'm sure they no longer require Textbook depositories.

I don't have anything to say about the issue other than "wake up, you're being tricked into wasting your time on this. You have more important things to do."

Well, if nothing else, you managed to bring Kane out of the woodwork. That counts for something.

But I'll speak up to say that I think everything you said is right on, and I feel the same way. I know the reasons behind the birther shit, and that's it's politically expedient, but it shames me that it's gotten so much attention when there are REAL things to deal with. There.

I'm going to bump it again. I'm interested in where a candidate was born. I want candidates to prove they are eligible to be president. There are restrictions built into the laws we have. If you are saying this law doesn't matter then none of them matter. He's not president, the police have no authority and we've got random chaos.

If you don't like the law, work to change it. Don't ignore it.

Thing is, you take it on faith that nobody ever vetted candidate Obama. Or anyone else. Have you ever heard the Federal Election Commission come forward to say that all the candidates have been cleared to run, that all have been vetted and verified as natural-born citizens?

Why was it never brought up before? More than 200 years of history in this country, and it never came up until a black guy with a funny-sounding name won. Go figure. Seems plenty enough people were just fine with "ignoring" the law until 2008. Or they just believed that the FEC, the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA were actually doing what they were supposed to do.

You know the President also has to have a security clearance, right? They vet you for those, too. They can get pretty deep into your life if they want.

By the way, I think you're wrong about the police. Last time I checked, they don't get their authority from the President. You sound amazingly like Wulfie here, who insists that if Obama weren't eligible, every single thing he's done would magically be undone. It simply doesn't work that way.

From what I understand about your political system is that candidates are 'vetted', starting with their own parties during the primaries. Other candidates are seeking anything they can to undermine other candidates. Any past you have is usually disclosed somewhere along the way, in an attempt to push people out of the race.

It would seem to me to be highly unlikely that anyone would be foolish enough to run with some huge glaring issue, like not being a natural born citizen. You'd be outed so early in the running and made to look like an idiot. I could not imagine Obama would just be crossing his fingers and hoping no one would notice.

Like all good conspiracy theories, they continue to exist regardless of evidence, because, hey, who lets facts get in the way of a good smear campaign. As the man himself ackowledged, producing the cert will do nothing to end the campaign that stupid people all over your country seem to get caught up in.

No, they get their authority from the law. No laws, no system, no authority. They still have force, communications and teamwork. Which all require money. No laws, no taxes, no money coming in. No more communications and teamwork. Which leaves force. Which anybody who is willing to use it also has.

I won't go into all the ramifications of what would happen if it were suddenly discovered that a sitting president was in office illegally. We do have a process to delegate authority and I imagine that it would be followed. Which would put the vice-president in the big chair. At that point I think we'd just proceed to another national election. Alternately I can imagine both illegal president and vice-president being ousted and the speaker of the house assuming the office of president until the next election.

As far as any illegally enacted legislation, since an illegal president cannot legally enact legislation or sign anything into law, I can imagine all signed legislation older than 10 days would be treated as if it was given a pocket veto and legislation newer than 10 days would be eligible for action by the new president. All pocket vetoed laws would have to be re-passed by congress for consideration by the new president.

Can you say major cluster fuck?
