My girlfriend and I celebrated Valentines Day yesterday, on account of her having a heavy class schedule today. My car died (possibly for good this time) we spent a large portion of the day pulling it via emergency tow rope to her brother's shop who will look at it for me and then we spent too much money on a seafood dinner with poor service that may have made her a little sick...

Although there was no shortage of suck, I had my girl with me the whole time. Also I was fortunate enough to find a nice silver ring the day before on sale (60% off, which is how I was able to afford it! lol) and she absolutely loved it! She bought me a lego set! I'm thinking maybe she is the one and this might be true love after all! Not now, when I'm poor and temporarily carless, but in a year or two... who knows?

It was the best Valentines Day ever!

Just, some thoughts that occurred to me yestereve while I dealt with the optometrist, who after reviewing how badly my eyesight has deteriorated, expressed bewilderment at how I even found my way in the door, much less to his office.
And sternly reprimanded me for driving, which I found kind of ironic in that I had to take evasive action a couple times due to some moron trying to drink a cappucino and text while driving, and some little old lady with handicapped plates weaving across both lanes doing 15mph under the limit - believe me, *I* am the LEAST of your problems out there, and for a fact, I *cringe* when I see a handicapped plate and get the hell AWAY from them before they do something stupid/dangerous...

Anyhows, I find it amusing in this case your efforts to poke holes in my villainy, HKCav, because I posit to you that my petty kindnesses and decencies are in fact, MORE villainous than even the most dastardly deeds I have ever committed, for what is villainy, but a complete and unrelenting repudiation of social norms ?

And what, praytell, ARE our "social norms" - avarice, schadenfreude, exploitation, hatred, sadism...

Oh yes, do I repudiate those, and actively seek the destruction of a society built upon than, although that destruction need not be carried out by violent or physical means, so long as it is thrown down.
Nor do I accept the chains of others morality, the notion that my life, personhood, or actions belong to any one, or any thing, besides myself - as such I reject even self-interest, because to act within self-interest in order to be "successful" by the definitions of this society would be to embrace sociopathy as fully and completely as possible - I don't give notion to even the concept of other standards, moral, religious, political, social, before I act, but rather act only as my own will and conscience directs.

And thus by our current moral standards, what our society defines as "good", as "successful", as noble, despite a few backhanded and just-for-forms-sake lip service comments to how "horrible" sociopathic conduct is, all the while lauding it as hard as possible in action despite such speech...

You know what that makes me ?

Because the notion of acting contrary to social norms is considered wrong, of wrecking destruction on a society, is considered evil - WITHOUT REGARD TO THE NATURE OF THAT SOCIETY.
Ergo when the wicked are in power and making the rules, then the rules are what are wicked, if you ask me.

I have long held that if you want the true measure of a person, all you need do is remove *ALL* consequence, for good or ill, from their actions (and this is where most media-morality tests fail, cause they only remove one side and pre-load the conditions) and then observe what they do.

Once you understand THAT, you begin to realize just how fundamentally decent human beings really are, and just how MUCH effort goes into emotionally and psychologically mangling them so that they will be able to survive and function in this twisted mirror we call society - an effort that if we did not invest, and spent bettering ourselves and the human condition overall, we might someday reach the stars in peace and harmony.
For a fact we spend more effort stifling, strangling, in effect murdering, our own humanity than any other venture in the entire collected history of mankind, including all our wars.

Now imagine if we didn't ?

THAT is the world I want, not just for myself, not just for those who agree with me, or for a chosen few, but for EVERYONE, every thinking creature of humanity or heir to it, and because that is the diametric opposite of what all our governments, our religions, our societies call "Good"...

Then I am Evil, and a Villain, and unashamed of any bit of it.

(insert melodramatic cackling here.)
Oh yes, and I have brownies, chocolate brownies....
