ROME (AFP) – World food prices reached their highest level ever in January, the UN food agency said on Thursday, as economists warned chaos in Egypt could push prices up further and foment more unrest in the region.

Rising food prices have been cited among the driving forces behind the recent popular revolts in north Africa, including the uprising in Egypt and the toppling of Tunisia's long-time president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

And in its latest survey, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said its index, which monitors monthly price changes for a variety of staples, averaged 231 points in January -- the highest since records began in 1990.

"The new figures clearly show that the upward pressure on world food prices is not abating. These high prices are likely to persist in the months to come," said Abdolreza Abbassian, an economist for FAO, which is based in Rome.

DREAMTROVE

At the risk of being put in the Alex Jones category of "everything comes down to eugenics" this one does.

World food prices are subsidized and manipulated to disguise the fact that the human race is only at 1% of the carrying capacity of the agricultural land already in use.

We go so far as to spray cars with soybean oil for paint. Industrial squandering of foodstuffs and intentional agricultural inefficiency are rampant. I recently read that Africa, by itself, can produce enough food on its already tilled land to feed the entire planet.

So what is this really about? Population control. Whitey is afraid that the current projects show that in the next generation there will be as many as 7 billion Africans. I say: So what? They have enough space for 7 billion people, they have enough food for 7 billion people, they have enough energy for 7 billion people. I don't see the problem.

As for the environment, I don't see that technology or population has anything to do with it. Policy does. 70% of the Amazon rainforest destruction has been done with hand-set fires by 400 Texas ranchers, yes, we're not even counting the Brazilians themselves here.

There is one other factor:

World currency prices are plummeting. This is because of fiscal malfeasance and derivatives trading. When you radically increase the extant cashflow by one thousand times over the last decade or two, that's going to have an impact on the value of the currency.

Currently, they're hiding how much cash they actually have to avoid a total collapse, because they know if their fiat currency system collapses, we'll all switch to something else. Also, thanks to the recent collapses in the USSR and Zimbabwe, they know exactly the point at which that will happen, and that point is *way* down there.

"Rising food prices" was cited as the reason that Ethiopia seized control of the food supply and ushered in a centralized food distribution, cutting off food to the Sudanese in the west (this time, each time they try to exterminate a minority ethnic it seems they target a different one.) Anyway, some million or so Christians died as a result (last two times it was muslims, Eritrean and Somali, anyone remember Tigray? I think they might even be animists.)

Anyway, currencies in free fall, objective in demand commodity prices will rise, still, the price in this case is artificial, and the focus on the story has a eugenics/population control tinge to it.

Kane has a point. Of course Obama is hardly the first. I think Reagan was maybe the first to pull this trick.
