Removing Saddam Hussein from power was the right move, but the United States made mistakes in the aftermath, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told CNN on Friday.

In an interview to be broadcast Monday on CNN International's "Connect the World" program, Rice acknowledged a failure to focus rebuilding efforts throughout the country and attributed the problem to a lack of understanding.

"I do believe I would take Saddam Hussein out of power again, but of course in the rebuilding of Iraq ... I would do things differently," Rice said. "I think we put too much emphasis on Baghdad and not enough emphasis on the provinces. Perhaps we didn't fully understand the degree to which the society would start to come apart as a result of being held in tyranny for all those years."

"Sometimes things that look terrific at the time look pretty bad in retrospect, and vice versa, so ultimately this is a story that will be written in history," said Rice.

THAT's the mistakes she think were made in Iraq? Wow! I could think of a couple more, if it were up to me...like going there in the first place, believing all the lies, just to name a few.

Let's see

going in under the pretense that WMD existed
going in for revenge for 9/11 and lashing out at so called easy targets
Not having a clear plan of what might constitute success
Completely misreading the Iraqi people - ie thinking they would support a US led force against Hussain
Widespread abuse of Iraqi people - many innocent ones - by the US military leading to a basklash and growth in the Insurgency movement
Not having good intelligence

the list goes on..

Well, I guess in a way it's better than nothing. Has Cheney ever admitted there was ANY mistake in going into Iraq? Or Rove? Or Bush?

Does she get points for admitting there ever WERE mistakes mead in Iraq? Or is it just too stupid?

I am not sure what to think of the WTC-Twins falling, it did seem slightly to controled the way they fell, then through a link I got from here, I read about Operation Northwood, which was eye opening to say the least(thank god it was not done back then) but then hearing about the third building(WTC7 falling, either due to a fire, or demolition because of the said fire, and i think i read somewhere that there was close to a 100 meters between it and the Twins, it was never hit with a plane and fell pretty much the same as the twins 7 hours after, I mean how long does it take to prepare a big office building for demolition?)

No, Mike, that's not what I meant. I meant (jokingly, admittedly) "does she get points for admitting there was ANYTHING wrong, as opposed to those who will never admit there was?" I was being sarcastic, nothing more.

I won't go into the 9/11 conspiracy thing, it just gets too convoluted. Say perhaps that I CHOOSE to believe our government wouldn't do something like that, and thank you, I don't need all the examples of them having done horrible things, I get that they're there. I just don't see how an administration which was SO inept in so many ways could have pulled off such a gigantic hoax that well. JMHO.
