The only Obama bumper sticker I saw today

Obama Bumper Sticker Drives Old Man Over the Edge

You are driving along a roadway and a vehicle rams you from the back.

The first things that crosses your mind is:

1) Was that guy driving a Toyota?
2) Did the driver suffer a medical emergency?
3) Was the driver engrossed in a fascinating text message?

Way, way, down the list of possible reasons for the crash would be the "Obama/Biden" bumper sticker you display on your car with pride.

But that is exactly why Harry K. Weisiger, a 70-year-old Nashville, Tenn., man, used his sports utility vehicle as a battering ram. Weisiger crashed into the back of local schoolteacher Mark Duren, who had his 10-year-old daughter in the car with him.

Weisiger was spotted making obscene hand gestures and pointing to the bumper sticker before smashing into Duren's car.

A 70-year-old Nashville man has been convicted of drunken driving for ramming his sport utility vehicle into the back of a car displaying an Obama/Biden bumper sticker.

At the request of prosecutors, other charges were dismissed Tuesday against Harry K. Weisiger, a retired worker for a construction company.

Police said he made obscene gestures and pointed at the sticker before he smashed into the car several times in March. No one was hurt.

He was sentenced to probation.

Charges dismissed were leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, reckless endangerment and violation of the implied consent law.

Now Mr Weisiger has entered entered the campaign race for governor, and is predicted to be elected in a landslide.

Me? Naw. I don't drive drunk. Never have, never will.

But, I usually just get in front of these clowns and slow down. Let them get a good look at my Gadsden flag bumper sticker (the only one I would allow on my car).

Then quietly let them pass, while looking them dead in the eye.

Yeah, its petty. Yeah its silly. Yeah its obnoxious.

But no more than any of their bumper stickers.

Figures Wulfie would get a kick out of someone deliberately ramming a car with a child in it. Good lord, wulfboy - what if the guy ramming the car had been BLACK?! You'd have gone ballistic about that, if a BLACK person had tried to hurt children.

Of course, in your view, nobody with an Obama sticker could be "human" in the first place, I'm sure.

That is messed up. I don't care what ridiculous motive might be on the table, deliberately slamming into someone is horrifying behavior. It's also stupid, but mostly it's horrifying. Such a thing would never even occur to me, drunk or sober. At most I roll my eyes at stickers I think are moronic. What kind of person decides reckless violence with unforgiving physics is the way to handle such a thing?

Your logic is so flawed as to be nonexistent. Impeding the flow of traffic is a bit more obnoxious and petty than is putting a bumper sticker on one's car. The former could be classified as aggressive driving for a reason. And actually impeding traffic is technically illegal all by itself, and with reason. That sort of behavior could cause an accident. You know, the accidental kind, not the deliberate ramming kind. Now the latter... couldn't really be classified a violation of any traffic laws, or indeed an inconvenience in any way. It isn't an endangering behavior, or a behavior that could prevent one from reaching a destination on time. Put simply, it's just a fucking sticker.

Me, I just drive. If they can read, they get it; if they can't, no loss. The only people I drive slowly in front of are those who climb up my ass; I hit my brake briefly and gently a couple of times to send the message, then just slow down some until they either pass me or back off. I go by "harm none, do what ye will".
