Dead man elected mayor of Tracy City

TRACY CITY, Tenn. — A dead man has been elected mayor in Tracy City, Tenn.

Carl Robin Geary received 268 votes Tuesday to 85 for incumbent Barbara Brock in the non-partisan race.

Donna Basham, administrator of the Grundy County Election Commission, said Wednesday that the city council will now have to appoint a mayor. The term is four years.

She said Geary died suddenly a few weeks ago. She would not speculate about why he won but said his death was widely reported at the time in newspapers in the small southeastern Tennessee town.

Brock, a former office manager for a jewelry company, had been appointed mayor 16 months ago when the then-mayor died.

She said Wednesday she felt she had done a good job but voters wanted a return to the past. All three town aldermen also lost.

“I’ve been told by many people that I’ve done more for this town than any mayor in many years,” she said. “But people do not want to see the town flourish and don’t want law and order, and we were doing both.”

A voter said, "Never known a corpse to lie, steal. or cheat so this would be a step in the right direction."

64 of 100 U.S. Senators are lawyers...

178 of 435 U.S. Representatives are lawyers...

BTW Henry VIII was written by lawyer Sir Francis Bacon, aka William Shakespeare.

A fine quote in defense of the legal profession.

In the scene they are discussing all they shall do for the people. Eliminate money, property, dress everyone the same, and all at the mercy and whim of Cade, a would be king and tyrant.

Naturally the first thought was the elimination of all the lawyers because they stand at the forefront of the educated class, a class they mean to eliminate as a prelude to eliminating reading and writing and other forms of education, which they considered a hinderence and distraction from worship of the sovereign.

In other words, for tyranny to prevail, first elminate the lawyers.

King Henry hearing the news of the approach of the rebel army:
"...All scholars, lawyers, courtiers, gentlemen,
They call false caterpillars, and intend their death.

KING HENRY VI
O graceless men! they know not what they do."

Later John Cade, the tyrant:
" Away, burn all the records of the realm: my mouth shall be the parliament of England." He then abolishes private property (or more accurately, claims everything for himself), demands tribute from all, claims all women first to him. He goes on but thankfully is ultimately defeated and killed.

Indeed much has changed in 500 years. Now the lawyers are the ones imposing tyranny.

While I'm tickled as anyone that people are finally waking up about how screwed up the system and our politicians are, did anyone else notice the line about "now the city council will have to elect a mayor"?

I'd say this deserves a face palm.

When no govt prosecutor is willing to indict a president, then we have a de facto king, aka dictator.
