Not made my mind up on the proposed burqa ban though. It doesn't sit right, but I'm not an idealist. Could it be that a restrictive law can actually increase freedoms?

Man, that's just moronic.

Not that I care all *that* much either way, but Halal processing at least TRIES to treat the animal and the ending of it's life with a little friggin respect as opposed to the relatively gruesome factory-farm processing.

You don't see folk goin ballistic about Kosher, so this makes no sense to me outside of a cheap excuse to hide racism or religious intolerance.

That said, since I live down the road a bit from the largest muslim community in the US, I really don't see a lotta that kinda bullshit, mostly merchants of various stripe desire their business and try to appeal to them by offering something that the primary customer base of the community their business is in might want, I mean, it makes practical business sense, yes ?
