I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Apparently neither of you know any real liberals. Most of the liberal I know are wary of Obama. They have a million things they think he should be doing, but are doubtful that he'll do them on his own. Try reading the latest issue of The Nation before you start telling me what Liberals think. At least then you'll have some real info to speak from, instead of just the voices in your head.

Okay,

I'm stunned by this thread. The title seems to exude racism, and has Whozit written all over it, and so 9/10 people here are not going to click on it. But, when you read it, Whozit's post is pretty cogent, and he's refering to Hugo's insanity and possible racism.

A conversation with Chavez is like a conversation with the crazy guy at the back of the bus, minus the part where he tells you that he once played bass for Meat Loaf, which is just the sort of detail which turns out to be true.

What actually shocked me was this, that the liberals, if there happen to be any, are turning on Obama here? WTF? Maybe Geezer has a better read on the left than I do.

Chavez is an unmitigated ass. This is a man devoid of redeeming characteristics. He's also not just nuts, and snorting something quite off, but he's also allied with every enemy of the US he can, and has assembled missile silos capable of, and aimed at, the united states. This man hates America far more than Iran, or Palestine.

And his reasons are very simple. Chavez is a total shmuck, and a tin plated dictator, despised by his own people, systematically exterminating indian cultures, and sometimes indians, destroying the environment, and attempting to start a world war on his own continent. Chavez is not just incredibly misguided, he's a total whore. His policies are not his own, they're for sale to any manipulative power that wants to change them.

In order for any regime like that to continue to exist, it needs to paint itself as the great defender. With Bush being both incompetent and imperialistic, it's easy, tin pots have been pointing fingers at Bush for 8 years.

So, why is Chavez tying Obama to Bush? Is it because there's some truth in this connection (there is.) But, no, of course not. It's because the end of Bush is the end of Chavez. Bush is someone the whole world could, and often did, despise. People of the world are going to have trouble hating Obama unless he degenerates into Clinton 2.0. But before that happens, there will be a honeymoon of, say, 18 months or so. During that, Obama, seen by the world as "Not Bush" will be able to do know wrong.

This, my fellow conservatives, is most excellent for America, provided that Obama doesn't use this time to do something totally asinine like invade Pakistan. It's our one shot deal to reclaim the title of champions of freedom. I don't care what party you belong to, or none, the world reaction to Obama is just good news.

And, it's very bad news for Chavez. The people of Venezuela hate his sorry ass and his elite group of militant junta-ettes, and are also going to look at Obama and say, hey, there's a guy who might support us without asking us to hand over the oil, in fact, who might actually buy our oil. (Chavez has been largely giving it away to his foreign friends in exchange for keeping him in power.) So, Hugo McSchmucko has to start up the state-run media and run some serious propaganda campaign to try to make Obama=Bush, so he can remain the great defender.

My guess? Not a chance. Ain't gonna work, and either the Hugo house of cards will come tumbling down, or there will be a bloody civil war. If I were Chavez, I'd take the money and run. But If I were Chavez, I'd be too f^&king dumb to do that :)
