This stuff is nothing new, Janet Reno was caught during the Clinton administration conspiring with States to illegally make permanent lists of gun owners. We can be sure an Obama administration will do the same thing if we don't remain vigilant. With both houses of Congress he'll probably be able to do it legally when he reinstates the "assult rife" ban, I'm sure they will require those with pe-ban weapons to register with the BATF.

They'll do it by making you a felon if you don't comply. You will go to the gun range some day to shoot your rifle and a BATF officer will ask you for your registration, and when you don't produce it you'll be hauled in and charged with a felony.

Yeah, well, first things first - we don't have to let it happen neither, Kirk.

At the very MINIMUM we should make a fight of that, and since the NRA is a buncha sellout pansy milquetoasts, I suggest hookin up with the JFPO, cause they of all folk know where that shit ends.

Just cause you and I might not agree on other subjects does not mean I cannot be a useful ally in the ones we do - only someone as damnfool as Rap would overlook such a thing.

And as you well know I can be a rabid, singleminded sumbitch when some political shitheel starts crapping on the constitution, there's no way I'd take that from any of em.

So let's get pre-emptive and start setting up legal and political roadblocks and stumbling blocks to raise the difficulty, and get it done NOW.

In spite of the fact that I'd like to rip his balls off for his vote on that damn bailout, John Dingell is on our side in this, which is rare for a Dem, but he's a pretty conservative dude when it comes to it - you need to see to your own reps and firm them up on this issue, or bounce em out of office and replace em with folks who respect the constitution a bit more.

We don't have to LET them do shit, and I daresay we'd best get the jump on them BEFORE they have a chance to implement any "grand plans" we ain't gonna like so much, yes ?

Time for the midnight garden.

Heavy wall 6"x5' PVC pipe with the bottom end cap glued in place. the top cap was sealed with more wheel bearing grease so it could be removed later without destroying the vault. after filling the pipe with rifle, pistol (tokorev preserved in the same way but with plastic grips in place), ammo and various other items, i glued PVC rope down opposite sides so that it looped over the top to provide a retrieval handle and slid the top cap in place. the top cap had a 1/8" hole drilled into it to give me a point to vacuum out the air. over this hole i placed a rubber check valve and used a commercially available pump 'n seal www.pump-n-seal.com to remove the air. i then covered the check valve with a piece of tape to secure it and glued a 1-1/2" PVC end cap over the valve to ensure it didn't leak.
