John McCain has rejected the support of controversial pastor John Hagee, nearly three months after Hagee first offered his backing to the Republican presidential candidate.

McCain has gradually repudiated certain statements from Hagee — including several perceived as anti-Catholic or anti-gay — but moved to reject his endorsement entirely after old comments he made about the Nazis were published in a left-leaning blog.

“Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them,” McCain said in a statement Thursday. “I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee’s endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well.

“I have said I do not believe Senator Obama shares Reverend Wright’s extreme views. But let me also be clear, Reverend Hagee was not and is not my pastor or spiritual advisor, and I did not attend his church for twenty years. I have denounced statements he made immediately upon learning of them, as I do again today. “

Hagee, leader of San Antonio’s Cornerstone Church, is ardently pro-Israel and cited McCain’s views toward Israel in his endorsement Feb. 27.

But the Huffington Post reported Wednesday that Hagee said in a late 1990s sermon that Adolph Hitler was sent to persecute the Jews on God’s behalf, as a way to expedite the re-establishment of the Jewish state of Israel. That prompted McCain’s statement Thursday.

Well, it does seem to leave out the part where McCain actively sought the guy's endorsement to begin with, even though those staements were already out there. Guess he (and his advisors) just don't do much research into who they ask to support him.

Not so fast....

McCain on Thursday also rejected the endorsement of Ohio megachurch pastor Rod Parsley , who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent. "

But when Obama distanced himself from Wright, it made no difference. So why does McCain distancing himself from his two fruit loops make a difference?

Because there's no comparison in Wright and Hagee/ Parsley what so ever.

McCain wasn't marreid to his wife by either, didn't attend either of their churches for 20 yrs wasn't brought to Christ by either, wasn't listening to their tapes/cd's of their sermons while on trips or away from their churches and because when McCain says he didn't know about their radical views, it's far more likely he's telling the truth than when Obama said it about Wright.

That's why

How about these?

"McCain rejects second pastor

John McCain, the presumptive US Republican presidential candidate, has rejected a second Christian preacher's endorsement after it emerged he had made anti-Islamic comments.

Pastor Rod Parsley, who announced his support for McCain in February, said Islam was an "anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world".

McCain said on Friday that there was "no place for that kind of dialogue" and that "I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement"."

If you believe that McCain didn't know about their radical views, then you really should be worried about how out of touch the man is. These statements aren't exactly NEW news - this story has been around for quite some time. It just took McCain some time to realize the same thing that Obama was forced to realize: having batshit-crazy preachers on your side isn't exactly a big help to your campaign.

Either way, they've all been repudiated and rejected, so good on McCain and Obama both. Maybe they can get on with some actual substantive debate over actual issues now. Doubtful, but let's hope...

Obama needed Wright to earn his "streed cred" w/ the blacks from Chicago. McCain needed the likes of Hagee to woo the religious right. It's clear to see that, of the 2, Obama has committed far more time in making Wright a part of his life than McCain did for Hagee or Parsley. Wright even volunteered on Obama's campaign , for a while, sitting on something called the ' African-American Religious Leadership Committee '. That is, before his comments were widely known. Since then, Wright has gone from working on Obama's campaign to being disavowed by the Democratic candidate .
