Simpsons ditched by Venezuelan TV

The Simpsons has been dropped from morning TV in Venezuela after being deemed unsuitable for children - and has been replaced by Baywatch.
The popular US cartoon about the yellow dysfunctional family was branded "inappropriate" and pulled by the country's television authorities.

Wait.....Baywatch is ' suitable' for children, but not the Simpsons? ?

I would have thought anything "U.S.A." would be deemed unsuitable.

Chavez allows Baywatch because he likes the red suits. They remind him of his own vast collection of magenta and purple pimp outfits he wears every day. Also, he allows it because his buddy & soul-mate Danny Glover uses it for acting tips.

Personally, I've always found The Simpsons to be far truer to real life than Baywatch *ever* was.

Speaking of the Simpsons and true to life ....

He entered the convenience store about 7:15 a.m. and asked for directions to Nuclear Road, site of the Point Beach nuclear power plant. He and the clerk chatted for a bit, and as he was leaving the clerk heard him say he "came to blow up the place."

The clerk called police and reported the man, whose name was not released (though it was probably Homer). Officers tracked down his rental car at the power plant and detained him for questioning.

He told FBI agents he was a contractor reporting for his first day at the (nuclear power) plant. He said the clerk must have misunderstood him, because what he actually said was that he "hoped he wouldn't blow up the place" because of his inexperience, police said.

Outside the US showing a bit of skin isn't really considered to be that big a deal. Still banning the Simpsons is pretty silly.

Well, I feel I must interject here that ole Chavez is fairly shameless about ogling the babes, in fact, while in the US he told one reporter quite honestly that he missed that last question cause he was busy checking out that girl over there.

I have my reasons for thinking him somewhat foolish, but that ain't one of em and at least he's honest about it.

All that bein said, he's done a far better job of running HIS country than our glorious leader has, in spite of our direct interference, so credit where credit is due....

Besides, is it really more ridiculous than some of our bizarre censorship standards ?

Today I was discussing an old PS1 game called Valkyrie Profile (A collectors item these days, good LUCK gettin your hands on a copy!) and how american censorship affected that.

Extreme violence, suicide, murder, chicanery, implied pedophilia, war and slaughter, all A-OK!

But in order to be released HERE, they had to edit out....
(wait for it)
Badrachs Cigar!

Someone explain to me how the hell THAT makes sense, eh ?

I can see why you liked it. Sure, its no MLB '08, but the heart wants what it wants.

I'm too busy pitching AAA ball for the Columbus Clippers (aka the National's AAA affiliate) for $210,000/year. Still dreaming of my chance to make the Show.

This is almost as much fun as my four years at QB for Kansas State or my stint as GM for the Browns (three Superbowls before I traded it in for a Wrestling Career...Johnny Justice the battling lawyer w/my finisher The Verdict...wrestled in a shirt and tie like IRS from the '80s WWF).
