Finally I think we have real evidence of Global Warming and its effect on humanity:

Apparently he was overcome by my pointing out that it is snowing in Cleveland today. Why, watching the Browns beat Buffalo 8-0 in the middle of a serious blizzard reminded me of those old NFL films from the '60s or '70s like the Snowbowl and such. Apparently it snowed back then and now forty years later as a result of massive climate change on a scale never before imagined and not seen since the extinction of the dinasaurs...we have exactly the same weather...which oddly is the same weather we have almost every year. Snow...in Cleveland...God help us all.

Everyone take a moment and compose yourselves...

I think actually you can blame global warming on my emotional state if it makes you feel any better.

Well, I for one say that it's about time that the material reductionist worldview got itself a boogeyman. Now they've got themselves a full metanarrative, complete with an answer to the question, "What's wrong with this place, anyway?" And the answer? Us!

It's din-O-saurs, not din-a-saurs.

Also, anyone serious about trying to convince the world there even is such a thing as man made 'climate change' ought to know better than to set up a conference in Bali, for god's sake. A location where ALL 200 nation members must fly to, in their private jets, in order to attend. Further more, since Bali Int'l Airport ins't big enough to house all those private jets, they must then fly to near by airports, carrying NO ONE, thus further burning fossil fuels and thus using up "carbon credits" at a rate far exceeding what the average Earth citizen will use in a life time. There are hundreds of cities around the globe which could have easily been chosen, all which are far easier to get to and make use of more enviromentally sound means of trasnportation than F-ing BALI!

Spare me the tears, Dutchy, this cat ain't buyin' your act.

And still Dutchy De Boer had his little mental break down. The dude would have surely killed himself had the conference been held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!

A Holiday Inn, lake front beaches and the babes there look like longshoremen. Saving the planet is SUCH a thankless task.

Lets look at the facts:
1) He's Dutch.
2) Trafficking Cannabis can be given the death penalty in Bali.

Mmmm.... when you think humanity is sleepwalking off a cliff.... as I do... it's a little hard to watch it with equanimity, knowing that you're going with them whether you want to or not.

As proof that humans can do the most asinine things when the evidence is inescapably right on front of them, I give you Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Once totally forested with -among other species- the largest and now extinct Rapa Nui wine palm, www.nature.com/nature/journal/v312/n5996/abs/312750a0.html the Easter Islanders systematically cut down all trees to roller-log their famous moai into place. It would have been easy to see whether any trees were left, since the island is 9 miles wide at its widest. But cut them all down they did, and once the trees were all cut down, the Easter Islanders could no longer build the seagoing canoes that allowed them access to deep-sea fishing, off-shore birding, and seal-hunting. And the constant wind swept away the topsoil, leading to crop loss. The oral history of the Islanders reports a period of cannibalism and internecine warfare that followed. So, the question is: What was that man thinking when he cut down the last tree?

Aside from that, carry on.

He was thinking he'd better hurry before that fellow standing over there with his axe cuts it down first.

Or perhaps he was thinking that the tree was blocking his sun.

Or maybe the tree violated the local housing association agreement and he didn't want to get sued.

Perhaps the tree was evil and he was saving mankind.

The tree insulted him (and last tree or not that's his mother and she's a saint and where's his axe...).

He was thinking that as a tree-cutter he was fullfilling his destiny.

Perhaps he was confident that the Bureau of Tree Replanting was doing as good a job as he was for the Bureau of Tree Cutting (ie a cautionary tale against big government).

Perhaps the giant stone head told him to do it (ie a cautionary tale against listening to ALGore).

Maybe the tree fell down on its own and he merely claimed to cut it down.

Maybe the tree was cut down by accident while he was putting up a sign that said "Last tree, don't cut."

Maybe he hit the tree with his car and fled before exchanging information with it and was later prosecuted and jailed for Hit Skip.

Edited to add: Maybe it wasn't really the last tree after all. He had it on good authority that there were in fact trees in Cleveland.
