The Military Industrial Space Complex plans to lobotomize all humans with Mind Control Helmets. FOR REAL:

Quote:

Soldiers barking orders at each other is so 20th Century. That’s why the U.S. Army has just awarded a $4 million contract to begin developing “thought helmets” that would harness silent brain waves for secure communication among troops. Ultimately, the Army hopes the project will “lead to direct mental control of military systems by thought alone.”

If this sounds insane, it would have been as recently as a few years ago. But improvements in computing power and a better understanding of how the brain works have scientists busy hunting for the distinctive neural fingerprints that flash through a brain when a person is talking to himself. The Army's initial goal is to capture those brain waves with incredibly sophisticated software that then translates the waves into audible radio messages for other troops in the field.

“It’d be radio without a microphone, ” says Dr. Elmar Schmeisser, the Army neuroscientist overseeing the program. “Because soldiers are already trained to talk in clean, clear and formulaic ways, it would be a very small step to have them think that way.”

Yet it’s not as far-fetched as you might think: video gamers are eagerly awaiting a crude commercial version of brain wave technology - a $299 headset from San Francisco-based Emotiv Systems - in summer 2009.

The oppression starts in the military, then trickles down. Just like vaccines are mandatory for slaves, er, soldiers, Big Brother Bundy wants them mandatory for all slaves, er, citizens, as parents find out under arrest when their kids are kicked out of skools for the crime of "failure to vaccinate" (ie truancy for being kicked out of skool).

"'They're hurting us. Get me out!' The Government was playing with her brain. They opened up her skull and cut into her brain. The only reason you do that is to lobotomize somebody. They did it over, and over..."

I always were an aluminum foil hat when I listen to National Public Radio. I enjoy the programing(no pun intended)for the most part, but if it wasn't for my foil hat I'm sure I'd become a liberal/commie due to NPR exposure.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

It was some years ago that I remember someone had built a boat that was steerable by brain waves. I'm glad that research continues.

This could mean a great deal of improvement to prosthetic devices, which may be able to respond to thought patterns in the near future as ways to grasp and manipulate objects.

This also brings us closer to the ideal form of computer control, which is keyboardless and allows us to interface with the computer by thought alone.

This research is positive.

I am not particularly worried about this technology being used to control the operator at this time. Talking to the computers is a much simpler task than having the computers take over the cognitive thought processes of the human brain. I still remember a novel called 'Terminal Man' which effectively demonstrated, in my opinion, what will happen when we try to corral human thought.

For every Multivac, there is a Bakst.

And he paused, aware at last of the gathering weight of the silence.
Fourteen images stared at him, without any of them offering a word in response.
Bakst said sharply, "You have talked of freedom. You have it!"
Then, uncertainly, he said, "Isn't that what you want?"
