So some Democrats are running on pointing out that the Healthcare.gov rollout was an unmitigated disaster.

Just glad that some Democrats are acknowledging the bad job done in developing Healthcare.com.

If other things go wrong, like number of young 'invincibles' signing up not meeting expectations, or substantial numbers of small business workers' policies being cancelled, it'll be interesting to see if these same Democrats acknowledge, and work to fix, that as well.

Um. Per the cited article she was running on the failure of the Healthcare.gov rollout.

Quote:

In the TV spot, the Democratic political action committee House Majority PAC highlights Arizona congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick’s criticism of the bungled HealthCare.gov website. Kirkpatrick is a vulnerable Democrat running for reelection in November.

The ad opens by praising her for blowing the whistle on the “disastrous healthcare website.” In Congress, Kirkpatrick has taken steps to distance herself from the embattled health-care law. In November, for example, she was one of 39 Democrats to support Fred Upton’s bill, which would have allowed individuals renew their health-care plans after the law’s regulations required insurance companies to cancel them.

I'm vindicated because these Democrats seem to understand what the real Obama Kool-Ade drinkers still won't address - that(as I've seen saying for a while) the Healthcare.gov site rollout was badly botched due to mismanagement, crappy project planning and development, shifting requirements, lack of oversight, poor or no testing, and pretty much everything else that could go wrong with an IT project.

You, I assume, believe that Healthcare.gov worked exactly as planned from Oct. 01. Right?

If you were non-partisan and were ONLY discussing the rollout, it wouldn't matter to you what party people belonged to when they commented. And yet, here you are, admitting that the ONLY reason you feel vindicated is b/c it's DEMOCRATS who are saying it. But you are so deeply into your partisanship, I don't expect you'll understand that.

As for your straw-man argument, which I thought I'd address separately, you've failed in ways you castigate other people for:

1) You've failed to show that the argument you CLAIM other people are making/ have made is the argument they actually made, with quotes, cites, and links, of their full statements, in context

2) You've failed to show that THIS argument rebuts their ACTUAL statements with logical analysis of their original statements linked to these purported rebuttals

But you're so used to your straw-man arguments that don't address what people are actually posting, and to your double standards (you don't hold yourself to anywhere close to the standard you demand OTHER people meet) I don't expect you to understand that either.

Kiki. The article cited isn't about the rollout, it's about Democrats using criticism of the rollout in their campaign ads.

I'm pleased that they overlook party politics, and acknowledge that the rollout was a disaster.

Anything else is purely the product of your imagination, as I'm sure much of the rest of your life is.

Well, after pointing out that the article is about Democrats running for office on criticism of the failed rollout of Healthcare.gov, and pointing out that I had been criticizing the failed rollout of Healthcare.gov for some time, it seems that I covered the point (that the Healthcare.gov rollout failed, and now that's being verified even by Democrats) pretty well.

If Kiki doesn't recognize that a lot of democrats have consistently ignored or diminished the failure of the Healthcare.gov rollout, that's Kiki's problem.

the ad (text)
It’s here, in small towns and wide-open places that Ann Kirkpatrick listens and learns. It’s why she blew the whistle on the disastrous health care website, calling it ‘stunning ineptitude,’ and worked to fix it. She fought to hold insurance companies accountable, so they can't deny coverage for pre-existing conditions or drop coverage when you get sick. Ann Kirkpatrick - seeing what's wrong, doing what's right.

the magazine cover
The president yesterday finally admitted what everyone in America already knew: ObamaCare is a total and unmitigated DISASTER

the title
Dem Super PAC Slams Obamacare in Ad

the article
A new ad from a Democratic super PAC indicates that, despite the claims of Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and others, at least some Democrats are wary of embracing Obamacare in upcoming midterm elections.

The Cook Political Report currently rates Kirkpatrick’s seat as one of 11 Democratic toss-ups.

Just glad that some Democrats are acknowledging the bad job done in developing Healthcare.com.

So you see, you seem to have scrambled your arguments like an omelette. The ad doesn't call the ACA itself an unmitigated disaster, nor does it call the original website that, though it does use the term disastrous. The title of the article uses the words SLAMS and applies it to the whole ACA, as in 'Dem Super PAC Slams Obamacare in Ad' (a severe misrepresentation of the ad). The text of the article itself uses mild terms like 'wary' and 'distance', but then mixes together claims about the ad itself and claims about the entire ACA. And then the cover makes the most extreme claims 'everyone in America already knew: ObamaCare is a total and unmitigated DISASTER' - the phrase UNMITIGATED DISASTER from the cover is the phrase you picked up on.

So, did her ad claim that the rollout was an UNMITIGATED disaster? No, it didn't. And your claim that it did? Not true.

"So some Democrats are running on pointing out that the Healthcare.gov rollout was an unmitigated disaster." "Just glad that some Democrats are acknowledging the bad job done in developing Healthcare.com." "it'll be interesting to see if these same Democrats acknowledge" "these Democrats seem to understand what the real Obama Kool-Ade drinkers still won't address" " it's about Democrats using criticism of the rollout in their campaign ads"

And your repeated focus on DEMOCRATS is a non-partisan - how again?

"You, I assume, believe that Healthcare.gov worked exactly as planned from Oct. 01. Right?"
Apparently you either didn't read or understand my criticism of the rollout, and my expanded criticism of how it reflects a larger pattern in Obama's administration. So, whatever. With your straw-man argument, you've failed to have a point, yet again.

"The article cited isn't about the rollout, it's about Democrats using criticism of the rollout in their campaign ads."
But you're the one who can't stick to the point you claim you're trying to make.

You make it about anything BUT the campaigns

here: Just glad that some Democrats are acknowledging the bad job done in developing Healthcare.com (no mention of campaigns)

here: If other things go wrong, like number of young 'invincibles' signing up not meeting expectations, or substantial numbers of small business workers' policies being cancelled, it'll be interesting to see if these same Democrats acknowledge, and work to fix, that as well.

here: I'm vindicated because these Democrats seem to understand what the real Obama Kool-Ade drinkers still won't address

here: You, I assume, believe that Healthcare.gov worked exactly as planned from Oct. 01. Right?

So, are these arguments NOT ABOUT CAMPAIGNS purely a product of my imagination? Again. Whatever.

Using your logic, I could say that it's because the liberals here haven't all agreed, in all of the threads criticizing the Healthcare.gov rollout, that it was a failure.

After all, since I didn't excoriate the Patriot Act in absolutely every thread about it, I apparently love it.

You apparently can't some up with any quotes where you disagreed with the Patriot Act. I found a single qualified disagreement with "some" provisions (btw- you're welcome), although right now you can't even describe what those provisions were or why you disagreed with them. (And, I even asked you to, so it's not like the point slipped past w/o your awareness) So, based on all that, I would say that you apparently agree with most of it.

As I've mentioned in several threads already, it is impossible to "prove" a hypothesis, because it can't be universally tested, leaving open the possibility that the hypothesis will fail in untested circumstances. It is possible, however, to DISprove a hypothesis, because one single contrary instance can cause a hypothesis to fail. So, here's my hypothesis: Geezer supports the bulk of the Patriot Act.

Now, your mission, geezer, is to come up with a single quote (Not a quote from absolutely every thread on the topic- just one) from your past where you express broad disagreement with the Patriot Act. Do that, and you will have disproved my idea. As long as you cannot disprove the hypothesis, however, it stands. And remember, it's up to you to disprove my hypothesis, not up to me to disprove it for you.

Since this thread has never really risen above "troll" level... that includes you, geezer... goodbye.

A rhetorical question, not a statement. You are using the reader's presumed opinion in an if-then argument, not voicing one of your own (If YOU think the Patriot Act is bad now, then it will get worse if the government follows your prescription for action.) I went and read your entire post to make sure that I got the context, and I don't feel that I'm weaseling out of this, you just seem incapable of voicing a clear opinion on this issue. The only thing I got out of your post was that you seemed to be arguing rather strenuously against securing airplane cockpits and having Federal marshals onboard airplanes, not a post against the Patriot Act per se.

I got a million of 'em, Sig; saving 'em to doll out a bit at a time. Just googled a bunch of stuff "troll gif", "don't feed the troll", "internet troll", stuff like that, and wandered the "images" sections. Some of 'em I made myself (remembering my desktop publishing background and my love of emoticons and animation), some I got off what I googled and played with 'em. That one was straight off the internet...not a think I could do to it to make it better!

So Geezer has decided not to address his totally fallacious statement, and instead found a quote where he said something negative about the Patriot Act. From reading, it looks like that might be the "single qualified disagreement with "some" provisions" that you mentioned, but it's irrelevant. It in no way addresses the fact that NOBODY has said the roll out of the ACA was anything but an unmitigated disaster, so I'm still waiting for him to address that statement…well, not "waiting", 'cuz I know he never will, just still amazed he even made it, and still consider it dipping straight into troll territory. Y'know...

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

In the hypothesis-testing mode, the hypothesis must be framed so that it can be disproved. If we make the hypothesis that "Democrats all said that the healthcare rollout was a disaster" then a single example of a Democrat defending the rollout would be enough to disprove the hypothesis.

AFA Geezer and the Patriot Act, the statement didn't clearly demonstrate that Geezer was personally against the Patriot Act, just that he thought some of his readers might be. Yanno, rhetorical judo: trying to use the other person's own opinions against them. Maybe he was ALSO against the Patriot Act, but that wasn't clear from his post.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I wouldn't try to guess what Geezer did or didn't think, so I won't address that.

But does anyone even have a single example of any "Democrat", or anyone else, claiming the rollout was NOT a disaster? I know I, and I believe one or two others, offered some of the mitigating factors as to WHY it was a disaster, but I truly don't recall anyone ever arguing that it wasn't one. That, to me, is what took it into troll territory. It truly was worthy of something Rap would put forth to try and turn the conversation to his favor, not even noticing or caring that the statement was 100% false and provably so. Trolling.

Well, then the hypothesis stands until someone can offer evidence against it. And yes, it was trollish.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

"And yes, it was trollish."

Whatever makes you think Geezer is here to discuss - well - anything? His métier is propaganda and disinformation. And as disgustingly vile as he was, the person who had Geezer pegged right from the start was Ghoulman. He posted as much about Geezer which is what tipped me off. And nothing I've seen since that day has changed my mind about what Geezer is.
