Barneys plans to dramatically alter Minnie Mouse's body - making her a 5'11
size 0 in order to "look good" in a Lanvin dress in the Barneys NYC window
this holiday season.

There is nothing wrong with tall thin women. There is something wrong with
changing a beloved children’s character’s body so that it looks good in a
dress that almost nobody looks good in - adding to the tremendous pressure
on young girls and women to attain photoshop perfection. The problem isn’t
with Minnie’s body, it’s with a dress that only looks good on a woman who
is 5’11 and a size zero.

That little girl who is going to become a 5’4, size 12 woman can’t just become
a 5’11, size 0 woman when she wants to fit into a dress that was designed by
someone who couldn't be bothered to make a dress that looks good on someone
who is not a model.

Meanwhile, hospitalizations for eating disorders in children younger than 12
years old rose by 119% from 1999 to 2006 according to a report issued by the
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published in the journal Pediatrics.

This is horrible! ... And yeah ...
I'm switching positions about who is responsible for someone else's actions.

Kids are very receptive up to a certain point: it's a survival trait for learning.
Adults can and do program kids. It's their job.
When adults send the wrong message to kids, if the message hurts the kids
or influences them to hurt themselves, I hold the rotten adults responsible.

Boycott Barney's.
Disney Studios is even more responsible for giving permission. Walt must be
turning over in his grave.

I used to wear a size zero in high school. I'm now a size eight. Even so, I can safely say that even a size zero doesn't look that disturbingly grotesquely thin. Definitely something wrong with the message being sent.

Generally speaking, we scottish types prefer the term "stout." Also, we like to wave around claymores, I think that's important to note.

Adults sometimes seem pretty impressionable in my book. You'd think adulthood is marked by independence of thought and livelyhood, but I don't think anyone is ever truly independent from the world around them and it's influences. Sometimes I wonder just how much we can actually blame on an adult, and not on society.

LOLOL.

In "The Devil Wears Prada," Meryl Streep calls Anne Hathaway, yes Anne Hathaway, the "smart fat girl" cause she was a size 6. The fashion industry is so twisted.

It really depends on height. Body Mass Index, you know. If you're short you can't get away with as many pounds. I'm technically borderline overweight, and I suspect I might be borderline diabetic.
