Not sure what it's supposed to accomplish, aside from keeping the cameras from being able to show what's going on. They were clearing the square, but how do strobe lights help do so? Weird.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

The strobes create intermittent blindness, confusion, and disorientation amongst the target audience while simultaneously ruining the light-level adaptation technology in most cameras.

I don't like it.

Obviously I don't either. And it can be downright dangerous to anyone with epilepsy, too. It would appear from articles I've read that it's mainly intended to stop photographers from documenting their actions. It's a tactic I abhor, but we've seen that the cops have no problem injuring people before, so this is just more of the same. Won't change anything. That cop who was caught pepper-spraying protesters?
Quote:

As hundreds of "Occupy Wall Street" protesters marched to the Manhattan District Attorney's office on Tuesday to demand prosecution of alleged police brutality against demonstrators, a police officer who was seen on video using pepper spray on a protester last month was found to have violated city guidelines.

Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna, seen above, was seen using pepper spray on a crowd during a demonstration on September 24.

President Roy Richter of the NYPD Captains Endowment Association said in a statement on Tuesday, "Deputy Inspector Bologna is disappointed at the results of the Department investigation. His actions prevented further injury and escalation of tumultuous conduct. To date, this conduct has not been portrayed in its true context."

WHAT injury and escalation by a crowd of peaceful protesters??
Quote:

An NYPD investigation has found that Bologna violated the department's rules on pepper spray use, and he will lose 10 paid vacation days, sources say. http://www.ny1.com/content/news_beats/politics/149156/sources--police-

Another video shows that during a Friday demonstration, a ranking police officer punched a protester in the face.

So cut the damn power to em, easy enough, you know how.

I'm still waiting for them to bring out the L-Rad or ADS weapons - rude surprises in store, folks.

How do you cut power to a portable strobe light? I'm confused...

Those things are power hogs, Niki - portable or not, to operate them for any length of time requires external power, and even so, there's ways to munge up just about anything electronic from short-medium range without even revealing who's doing so.

The sword of technology cuts both ways.
