Hello,

This probably sounds like an advertisement. I promise I don't work for the company. I'm just an owner of some of their models.

Heritage Manufacturing (builders of some of the least expensive and most innovative single-action revolvers in the U.S.) have recently introduced 9 shot cylinders to their lineup. I have placed an inquiry as to whether these can be retrofit to existing models. I'll let you all know when/if I hear back.

The Heritage was the first handgun I ever bought, 100 dollars brand new at the time. Now they hover in the 250-350 dollar range depending on options.

Hello,

Sadly, the 9 shot cylinder is not just a drop-in. I guess I would have known this if I better understood the revolver mechanism.

So if you want the 9 shot, you have to get the whole gun. Well, they're not very expensive. Might be worth it...

But my 9mm semi-auto holds 30...

But yeah, a 9-shot revolver sounds pretty kewl. How do you like the Heritage, quality-wise? I've shied away from them if anything because they're TOO cheap, it seems, and I worry that they won't hold up. But then I look at a Ruger Blackhawk and have a hard time laying out $475 or so...

Not that I'm likely to be buying anything anytime soon.

Keep the Shiny side up

Is this a .22? Harrington & Richardson made 9 shot double action .22s for quite a while, although they're out of the handgun business now. I have a J.C. Higgins (Sears) branded 9 shot .22 made by H&R that I inherited from my father-in-law. This thing has gotta be 50 years old.

Hello,

I have two guns from Heritage, although the first is in my father's custody, as I didn't bring it with me when I moved.

The first was a combo .22 with a 9 inch barrel. It has never needed repair or maintenance, and continues to be accurate and reliable some 15 years after I bought it.

The second is only about 10 years old, but it has likewise proved reliable and accurate. (3.5 inch barrel, bird's head grip. I actually use this as my late night 'what are the dogs barking at' gun when I don't feel like hefting the shotgun.)

These guns have the interchangeable cylinder that allows either .22 LR or .22 magnum to be used.

I probably never would have bought the first one except it was the only gun I could afford at the time. Now I'm a believer.

Their coolest feature is the thumb-actuated hammer-block safety. It's the only revolver I've ever handled that had one.

Hmm, guy I used to know had a Webley that had like, I forget if it was seven or eight shots, in .38 of some sort, dunno if it was custom ammo or not.

He used to call it "Lucky Seven" though, I remember that - bet it woulda really put off someone counting your shots in a gunfight way back when though, heh.
