The US has a good chance of winning the bid tomorrow I reckon - is there much interest over there? I sense America would be more ready and receptive to it than the last time in '94. And it's about time you got serious about competing in a truly global sport... I can also recommend cricket

All in all, I'd say we're at least as excited about it as we are about the 2022 Olympics and the 2022 Superbowl... I tend to not start the tailgate party for sporting events a dozen years in the future for at least 11.99 years. :)

I'll be watching the announcement in a few - I'd love to have the opportunity to see WC matches live in the states.

Like woman, I am a mystery.

And the results are in.

2018: Russia
2022: Qatar

Interesting choices to say the least by FIFA.

Surprised by Russia, but doubly surprised by Qatar: 50 degree celcius local heat apparently, and a plan to air-condition whole stadia...

I'll say - those 2 seem like hard sells in terms of getting people to travel there.
And Qatar... aren't they a dry country? I mean "dry" like do they allow the sale of alcohol, BEER?

I heard something about special 'alcohol allowed' zones... :-/

Most Muslim countries do sell alcohol to tourists.

I don't "hate" soccer, but the last World's Cup was really quite the grand snoozefest. Weeks of games with teams running around back and forth with virtually no scoring....1-0 games, ties, and those uber-obnoxious vuvuzelas....sorry, it's just too damn booor-hor-hor-rrring!!!
