Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

This quote caught my eye,

Quote:

Get this: 10 percent of people 24 and younger think it's OK to text during sex, according to consumer electronics shopping and review site Retrevo. That brings a whole meaning to the term multitasking.

I wonder if 9.3 percent of people 24 and younger think it's funny to tell pollsters that they text during sex.

How about you guys? How far does the digital world intrude into your daily existence?

Due to the use of Naomi 3.3.2 Beta web filtering, the following people may need to private-message me if they wish to contact me: Auraptor, Kaneman, Piratenews. I apologize for the inconvenience.

MINCINGBEAST

I'm replying from my BlackBerry. Mid coitus.

Google, though it reeks of second hand authority, is part of my central nervous system; I am online in some form so long as I am awake. I know I lived without ubiquitous connectivity, but it seems a pale half life. Of course, my inner life now consists of nothing but emoticons and LOL DONGS, and I find myself always searching for the command F button. But this is a small price to pay.

HA!, pretty sure that's the case indeed.

As for me, well, given how I used to run VI on-the-fly, without being "plugged in" with various communications gear and internet access, rumor is I would shrivel up and blow away...

This is not true, however - got caught up in an ugly, ugly scene in the pissant, backwater town of Wakarusa, Indiana vaguely reminiscent of the movie Tank - up against a corrupt cabal of jackasses which included most of the local court district, assisted by the very pissed off and influential family of a certain girl, and it became almost comic when they shut off the fucking power to an entire block cause of the notion that if I got "online" it'd be their ass, which it was - Wally had a generator, and telephone lines are powered seperate from the grid.

That said, without access to the massive data flow of the net, I get kinda twitchy, the lure of having most of the information on the planet right in your reach if you can just figure out how to access it can be downright addictive.

It's like being cut off from my own brain. This is where I store my knowledge, what with my own memory being tragically flawed. If I'm in civilization, I need the internet to function properly and at full capacity.

I also get twitchy, but that's because of boredom. Civilization is boring.

I don't get internet twitches when I'm out in the field or wilderness.
