Never understood why he got so much scrutiny for wanting "his life back"

Yes, it was tragic. But he didn't cause the spill, and no human alive can be expected to deal with the oil spill lightly especially if you are in charge. His comment was likely indicating he wasn't going to get any sleep or stop worrying for the next 4 months. I'm sure he has a few ulcers, and about 10 years off his lifespan after the fact. Newsweek can suck it.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I don't know. One of his duties was to say the right things at the right time.

He said the wrong thing at the wrong time.

It's like any high ranking leader. Your face, your demeanor, your comportment, your words. These are the things by which you will be judged and hanged. It's true for politicians and its true for corporate leaders, and it's doubly true in a crisis.

It may not be fair, but I think the huge amounts of money and/or power make up for some of the unfairness of it all.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

It was the crassness of saying "I'd like my life back" in the aftermath of an explosion which killed 11 people, and an ongoing ecological disaster which had and has the very real possibility of wiping out the livelihoods of thousands if not tens of thousands of families.

To be in the midst of that and say "I'd like my life back" is felt particularly harshly by the families of the dead, I'd wager. I'm sure the dead would like their lives back, too.

Hayward should consider himself lucky; in another time, those words might have been his epitaph. As it stands, he got to kill eleven people, destroy an ecosystem, and still walk away with an $18,000,000 bonus for doing such a great job of it. Where do I sign up for that duty?

Go fuck yourself.
On this matter, make no mistake. I want you to go fuck yourself long and hard, as well as anyone who agrees with you. I got no use for you.

Friday, May 28, 2010 - 18:26 To President Obama:
Mr. President, you're a god damn, mother fucking liar.
Fuck you, you cock sucking community activist piece of shit.
... go fuck yourself, Mr. President.
