Afghanistan - finally making sense?

Our presence there has never made sense to me. The party line was we're there to stop terrorists, terror training camps, fight the evil Taliban, etc., pretty flimsy cover imho since they can and do just go somewhere else, like Somalia. Add to that Obama promising change before the W-House, but after moving in he's just more of the same. Almost as if he was suddenly made aware of details that can't be made public. Something is there, there is some reason we're lurking about risking lives, and spending millions of dollars and this finally seems like it might answer those questions.

You can't tell me we didn't know about this from way back. This is the kind of thing countries risk millions of dollars and thousands of lives for.

I actually can't believe it's being made public - maybe that's the "change."
