I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

I've wondered why, when you see homeless people talking to themselves, they're always angry and yelling - as opposed to, say, singing a happy tune or chatting amiably with the voices.

I stayed with my parents for about four months. It did not go well. I was still hearing the girls voices. I thought that they had all moved into the
apartment downstairs and that they were still spying on me. I heard all kinds of things. My aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents (dead and alive). I thought that the voices were broadcasting my thoughts using radio waves. I heard a sound that I thought was coming from the DVD player. It was an annoying sound but my parents didn't seem to be able to hear it. I heard a girl named Christina who was playing the piano and singing in the apartment below ours. That voice told me one night that she was a "special spirit" and that I had to "choose a path". The voices claimed that I was a "selfish bitch".

My parents would try to talk to me and figure out what was wrong with me but for the most part I wouldn't cooperate. I was afraid of my father. I thought he had an evil twin and that they had switched places on me. I kept saying to myself, "Better be my father".

I tried to find work for most of the summer. My mother's friend eventually got me a job doing housekeeping at the hotel where she worked. I worked there for about six weeks and heard voices the entire time while I was working. I heard the voices of some of my old friends from Evangel asking why I could not find a better job.

My experience at NSU was a good one for about two weeks into the semester. I decided to major in computer science. I applied for a position in the computer science department as student IT Technician and I secured an interview. Everything was going well. It was a fresh start. I tried to ignore the voices as much as I could.

But the voices did not want to be ignored. I heard the voices say, "Make her talk out loud". And from that moment on I have been repeating what the voices are saying.

Here in Florida it's "Snowbird" season when all the Northerners come South for the Winter. This includes a huge influx of homeless who I suspect got bus fare from the police in northern cities. I was surprised when I first moved to Florida how tolerant they were of the homeless, but that seems to be changing with their population increase. They're now using ordinances that forbid sleeping outside, and seem to be making some progress. It seems like a waste of law enforcement time to round up these mentally ill homeless when they really belong in mental institutions, not jail. Unfortunately, the courts desided a long time ago that involintarily institutionalization is not an option anymore.

They do seem to have an special affinity for Starbucks coffee. Probably a result of additive personalities and drug withdrawal. Maybe if we put Starbucks in mental institutions they might go voluntarily.
