Clean up time in a bit. My allergies were nasty last night. Felt like I had something in my right eye but I could tell for sure. Seems better this morning.

Same here. My nose hates summer weather, and I need to do a bunch of dusting (which I hate) and vacuuming and mopping.

Vacuuming and dusting are the worst thing for allergies. I hear ya. Summer I am usually a little better. Spring is miserable for me.

Well, I dust with a bucket of water and a damp sponge, bc dry dusting just sends the dust everywhere. And I'm fortunate to have TWO HEPA vacuum cleaners (the cordless which works on hard floors and a 25-year old Nilfisk canister that could suck nails out of floorboards. Nilfisk is good for crevices, window screens, baseboards and cushions) plus the 35-year old warhorse that doesn't QUITE have a HEPA filter but does have a pleated filter after the usual bag, and a powerful motor and beater/ brush combo, great for the mats I have at each door.

I still don't understand where all this dust is coming from tho. Maybe one day I'll ask the microscopy group at work to take a look and ID some of it for me.

*****

I got my rear in gear and did some yardwork today, raking up pine needles and avocado leaves. Avocados lose their leaves in spring, about the same time they're flowering, and it takes about 1 1/2 years for avocados to grow, so trees are losing their leaves and blossoming at the same time as holding baby avocados. So strange.

The avocados (native to highlands of Mexico and Honduras, used to frequent rain) and azaleas (native to moist areas) are doing spectacularly this year after the previous winter's double rainfall. I think all that rain washed accumulated minerals further down, out of the root zone. We have very hard water, so when we water the minerals (calcium and magnesium, primarily) accumulate when the water evaporates. Unless you're willing ng to water past the root zone, minerals will keep on accumulating. And plants that are adapted to lots of rainfall will suffer even if if the soils is kept sufficiently wet. I'm enjoy the avocados and azaleas looking so green and healthy.

Yeah, I've used the old water and bowl too. Especially on tables for clearing up dust.

And I'm like you on wondering where it all the dust comes from.

Great for getting yard work done. I didn't know that avocados like rain but then I don't like avocados. They have no flavour at all to me.

Been talking to my friend in the UK. She's coping okay but she's got a big family thing coming up in 3 weeks. Her son is getting married and she's upset about that. She apologized for rambling at me. Think I told her she's free to ramble at me anytime. Any support I can offer her I will.

Back and done for today. Did need a jacket going out but not coming back. Also as I was going out my door today, I discovered I hadn't locked when I got in yesterday. I usually check before I go to bed but forgot. Have to make sure I check tonight.

Not only did we have a dry, dry winter, summer's started off early, and with a bang. Looking at 90's for the foreseeable future.

Saw my ENT today. Aside from allergic swelling (did I mention that my nose hates Santa Anas?) it looks good! So, "carry on and see me in 3 months". There was a 1 hour wait tho, which put a dent in my schedule and list of things to do, like ...

Bunch of phone calls to make and finish scrubbing out my apron with Krud Kutter before it goes in the regular laundry. Gotta finish deep watering the avocados today too, bc if I want to eat them (yup!) I have to give them water to grow!

Had a successful "clean out the frig day" yesterday: leftover stirfry pork, stirfry veggies, a dab of spinach and chix broth, with sliced garlic, ginger, and hot sauce turned in soup for hubby. I had leftover Persian chicken and my quinoa version of tabouleh with leftover quinoa, tomato, and cilantro. Dear daughter had leftover turkey Swedish meatballs (the secret spices are allspice and nutmeg, I kid you not) and sauce, with leftover rice and lettuce salad. Frig is ready for grocery shopping today.

Well, on with the show!

Yay on the bang for your Summer. Summer up here can't seem to make up it's mind if it wants to stay or go. The end of this week will be colder than the beginning. The next week we are back to hot again.

Great news on the doc, SIG.

My allergies are why I have plants in my place. I would be miserable.

Sounds like you made a good clean out of the fridge.

Hope you got all your groceries.

Out tomorrow to my regular mah jong game, then grocery shopping. Ate all my left overs tonight.

I got some fresh peas today. Figure I will have some of them with whatever I decide to pick up tomorrow.
