Sorry, I should have been clearer SIG.

My neuro is here in my city.

The hop into Alberta would be to visit friends. Their son is graduating high school and they would like me to come out.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Last week was super busy.

I started out last Monday by helping to declutter about half of our e waste.

Tuesday was specialist doggy dentist/ vet visit, a longish drive away. That was also the day I make up a proposed menu and grocery list for shopping on Wednesday (when the sales are out).

Wednesday contractor came to start repairing and reconfiguring irrigation system, and discovered a snakes nest of inscrutable pipes. (I dug up a bunch a few years ago and thought I got them all. Nope!) Also, that was the day I refilled family Rx.

Thursday I caught up on chores, gave the dog a much-needed bath and nail trim. (For a little dog with a single coat of fur, she sure can shed!) While that, discovered the demand water heater had shut itself off momentarily so called our local plumber for service, and ...

Friday the contractor came back for more irrigation work, dear daughter had a telemed, and the tech descaled the water heater and changed the filters.

Saturday we dropped off the e-waste we had collected up so far, I bird-dogged family meds (pharmacy always seems to forget something) and did a final walk-thru before contractor buttoned up the irrigation system.

Sunday picked up the meds but otherwise took it easy (besides the usual daily cooking and dishes)

I was alerted to a problem with the kitchen faucet so I called a handyman I know, and I hope he'll come and sort it on Thursday.

So today, back on the treadmill. Since it was 90F (32C) I did mostly kitchen work. Among other things, I save up organic chicken carcasses, skin, and giblets and make broth. I also pick off meat and cut up giblets to supplement the dog's commercial food, but I was dealing with three carcasses today so it took a bit of time. Thatll be good for a month or so. Menu and grocery list, again. Dishes

Tomorrow I hope to take a photo of the water heater filter housing plus dimensions to our local plumbing supply place, and get the filter part # bc changing it is something we can do ourselves. Also, catching up on the mail.

I notice I spend a huge amount of time washing dishes, so I'm shopping for a dishwasher that works and hope to replace our 40 year old one, but that's for the future

After that ... I dunno. Catch my breath, look around. Trying to catch up for the "lost winter" when I couldn't seem to get my feet under me.

My boss is an idiot. Not sure if she had her glasses on or not but she brought up a bag of sugar yesterday from the basement and it was covered in some sort of mite. They were also in the bag. They were quite small but even if they weren't in the bag she still wanted to use it. They keep certain things in bins in the basement. I said you must have accidentally brought something in from camping and it got into the bin. She said oh no no. I accidentally knocked over a container of brown sugar and that is what happened. No, it doesn't the bug or bugs were allowed to crawl into the bin from somewhere.

Anyways she wouldn't listen to me. She had to throw the sugar out as it was un-useable.

Not going to get my hopes up about anything because I don't believe anyone or anything on any topic these days until it happens, but there may be a chance that somebody I've met recently may have devised a way to monetize the project that I've been working on. It's the first time I've talked to anyone who's had a plan, let alone one that sounds this good.

The best part for me is that I don't really have to consider "trust" as an issue, because from the beginning I've been giving all that work away for free and everything I've done is already out there for everyone. And in addition to that, I've never even put my name on anything either, so it's not as if I'd even be risking losing credit for work that I've never actually taken any credit for in 20 years either. He's not interested in paying me for what is out there. He wants what I bring to the table to continue.

I told him that if he could find a way for me to actually make money doing this and allow me the rest of my life to do the work I love doing, while also allowing me to slow down my output pace to a speed that is reasonable instead of cramming 100+ hours per week to try to get it done so I can get back to "real life" than he'd be my hero.

We seem to share a good deal of overlap in interest in this, and it would appear that our skillsets would be a great compliment to each other. Not only does he appear to have a "business and marketing sense" that I've never possessed, but he also appears to know quite a bit about web development and SQL database creation and management, which are skills I've never bothered learning since I never needed to. But he's not a detail guy, and he really took notice of that with something of mine he stumbled upon recently. He says that he's been mulling over a way to break into this in a way to monetize things but never really found an angle to do so until he found me and realized what I've been up to.

I guess I'm the angle.

I more or less let him know my situation and that, at least for the short-term, my time is cheap and as long as my bills are getting paid and I can start putting real taxable hours on my SS#, I don't need to be making too much to keep me working on this on the side while I get back to real life issues that need tending to, but in case this ever takes off we're going to have to have some legal paperwork done that holds water. I wouldn't ever want to be the wrong Steve in a Steve Jobs/Steve Wozniak reenactment.

As of right now, I'm going about things as if we never talked and I'm not getting my hopes up at all. Life has taught me over and over again that you never do that. But if this were somehow to become a real thing, my worrying about losing my healthcare when the "Big Beautiful Bill" gets passed would disappear overnight, and that would only be the start of it. No more working retail overnights for some college dipshit making 4 times as much as me to sit around and do nothing? Who knows? I might accidentally trip and stumble my way back up firmly into the middle class again if things go right.

Wouldn't that be something if I could pay somebody else to finish my house and I could finally move the hell out of this virtual McMansion into a nice small house that only takes 15 minutes to mow the lawn instead of 2.5 hours. Maybe get a car that doesn't require me to constantly learn more about fixing cars for the first time in 20 years?

I'd say "fingers crossed" but we're not even there yet. It will be interesting to see what he has to say going forward. I love the fact that he is obviously very intelligent from his writing and he's not afraid to volley walls of text back and forth along with me. If nothing else, he's great at written communication.

Call me suspicious, but in every case I know, the person doing the actual work was screwed over by the business type.

Why?

Because that's what business types do.

You ESPECIALLY don't want to get into an employee relationship with this guy.

You might want to look into copyrighting your material. And if you don;t want to take ownership of it, but you don't want others to exclusivate it for their own personal gain, look at the free software copyright.

Be careful.
