Another lousy day playing mah jong. Ugh! Add to that my internet went funky last night. Have no idea what happened. Had to get on the phone this afternoon to get it and the tv sorted out. Luckily they could.

Out for my two year mammogram check. Yuck. Will get a bottle of water before I hop a bus to go to another city for it.

Got mammogram in spite of being late. They weren't too busy.

Got a good breeze going through my area today which is good. Didn't need anything to do but will tomorrow.

People and their stinky deodorant, cologne or perfume are making me miserable. Just when my allergies were settling down this heat and ugh.

Hey Sigs,

Just wanted to duck in and thank you for being a sounding board with my coding stuff a few times here.

It helps me work things out in my brain when I've got some issues that need solving and even if I haven't come to the answer I thought I needed to come to, I've come to answers to questions I didn't realize I should have been asking. If that makes any sense.

I'm still a coding dummy for sure, but I've enlisted the assistance of various programs I didn't even know existed until I looked for them, made a few tweaks here and there... not just in the project but my modes of thinking in certain instances as well. In some cases it's as if a few walls in my brain were knocked down and I'm accessing some tools I didn't realize that I had just on the other side of 'em.

And talking about throwing out outdated models when they don't serve a purpose anymore is playing a part in this as well. I was already kind of in that mode anyway but maybe didn't even realize that I was dipping my toes into it until we were talking about it the other night. And I've just decided to take a plunge in a few areas I never did before and try things I wouldn't have thought to try.

One huge change, now that my main "hub" project has been done for quite some time is to become much more lax in my documentation processes. Not only have I not realized until just recently that I get things done about 10 times faster when I'm not painstakingly documenting every single thing I do, every step of the way, but with some new tools available to me a lot of that won't even be necessary going forward. The project itself will be its own documentation in some cases.

The time I spent on all that documentation before is never a waste because it's still always going to be helpful and easy to access since it's part of the core, but 90% or more of that documentation where things are expanded going forward just isn't going to be necessary when the original can be reflected upon as a reference by anybody smart enough to ever want to check under the hood. A month ago I would have either kept right on doing wasting all that time documenting everything, or I would have walked away completely because I don't have the time to do this thing I enjoy anymore. But I would if I could make it a part time thing to enjoy and I can balance it with real life important stuff.

But I've also been making a real effort to learn more stuff to make automatic tasks play out on my own instead of hoping I can find somebody else smarter than me to do it. It was time to learn how to fish.

Not going to speak at all about what exactly it is I'm working on, of course, but let's just say that in the last few weeks I've been able to get work done on something that would have taken me a year to finish the way I was carrying on about it all a few months ago, and I've just cut that entire process down to about 6 weeks by the time I finish it without losing anything, or making any concessions in the name of saving time.

So even if you didn't think you were helpful with your answers sometimes, you were.

My asthma used to be so bad it could be triggered by perfumes or even heavily scented soaps. Elevators could be a nightmare! So I feel ya!

That's great SIX! Isn't discovery grand??
What you accomplished, it was all on your own. I did the easy part: nothing.

But you're welcome. I'm always ready to do nothing again.
