This article is from People magazine but I just heard on Canadian National news that Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has started an investigation into the system that flourished in the US.

I mentioned in my "Residential School" thread about Carlisle which was the first of these places set up in the US. 109 burials have been found on the grounds.
