Quote:Originally posted by second: Losing Could Expose Trump To Prosecution for Any Number of Crimes Former presidents normally don’t go to jail, but few have committed so many obvious crimes unrelated to their duties in office. Even if President Donald Trump loses on November 3, it’s hard to imagine that he’ll ever be convicted of any crime, much less serve time in prison. That’s because, first and foremost, no former U.S. president has ever seen the inside of a cell — and not because all presidents have faithfully followed the law. Presidents accumulate huge favors owed, favors that they cash in, figuratively and literally, when they become former presidents. On the modest end of the spectrum, 20 wealthy friends of Ronald Reagan bought a mansion in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, for him and Nancy to live in when he left office. More significantly, ex-presidents receive political protection, as when Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon for anything whatsoever he’d done in office. Presidents accumulate huge favors owed, favors that they cash in, when they become former presidents. And beyond anything concrete that a president does for the factions that back him, those factions also strenuously oppose any consequences for their president’s actions for reasons of basic class solidarity. If an ex-president can face consequences, that would suggest that people one step down the power ladder could too. And the people at the top of U.S. society see consequences like Leona Helmsley saw taxes: They’re for the little people. That said, stranger things than the prosecution of Trump have happened: for instance, Trump being elected president in the first place. Trump is more vulnerable to prosecution than other presidents because he’s engaged in so many potential nontraditional presidential crimes. Trump has engaged in many comparatively small, shabby, possible criminal activities outside of his presidential duties. Quote: When I'm on jury duty, despite all the other people in Texas who deserve to be charged with the same crime but aren't on trial, I don't complain about the defense/prosecution lawyers being biased for/against this particular accused.
Quote:Those other people just aren't on trial. The Democrats aren't on trial.
Quote:There were 142 people indicted in the last three GOP presidential administrations while there were only 2 under the last three Democrats.

I always assumed that, but for the odd Gadsden flag or "Protected by Smith and Wesson" signs posted by reprobate Anglos, the city was mostly liberal. But there is an online website called "nextdoor" that I joined, and altho politics is not supposed to be a topic, someone brought up Trump. And son of a gun, the pro-Trump comments and "likes" outnumbered the anti-Trump comments/likes by about 2:1. Seems like the silent majority has found its voice, at least in the city where I live. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake #WEARAMASK

Quote:SIGNY: As a matter of fact, THUGRTROLL, the ball that thread rolling on Nextdoor was a comment from some leftwing asshole that went something like Quote:XXXX [running for school board] supports Trump and is a terrible person, Don't vote for her WOW, did people unload on that post! Many of them were responding by saying it's the American right to vote for whoever you want, and many of the others were outright pro-Trump. So get offa your throne of righteousness... nobody likes you and your kind. TROLL: Russia has Nextdoor? Sounds like they're a bunch of Karens, like they are here in my country, the USA.

Quote:Originally posted by SIGNYM: And then, on top of that, all of the pro-Trump comments got twice as many likes as the democrat ones. Not surprising, as the democrat ones were all for illegal immigration, obsesssed with RUSSIA!RUSSIA! and full of misspellings. The people posting along those hate-filled lines sounded like uneducated boobs.
