President Donald Trump on Tuesday added another wild document to the mountain of evidence that will be used against him when the verdict of history inevitably concludes he was unfit for office.

In a rambling six-page letter addressed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Trump weaved together a tapestry of lies, self-pity and warped allusions to history, in an effort to craft for himself a mantle of innocence on the eve of his likely impeachment.

As ever, one wonders whether he believes all the crass nonsense he promotes or whether he's consciously, brazenly trying to deceive the public on all counts. And that leads to the next question: Which would be worse?

Above all, and in the most serious claim in a missive that is difficult to take seriously, Trump rejected the legitimacy of the impeachment process, an indispensable element of accountability, the key tool to prevent democracy from drifting into tyranny.

And in what has become one of his trademarks, Trump accused his targets of his own transgressions. The House of Representatives appears set to impeach him for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power. Trump accuses Pelosi and Democrats of the same thing.

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

December 17, 2019

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Madam Speaker:

I write to express my strongest and most powerful protest against the partisan impeachment crusade being pursued by the Democrats in the House of Representatives. This impeachment represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by Democrat Lawmakers, unequaled in nearly two and a half centuries of American legislative history.

The Articles of Impeachment introduced by the House Judiciary Committee are not recognizable under any standard of Constitutional theory, interpretation, or jurisprudence. They include no crimes, no misdemeanors, and no offenses whatsoever. You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!

By proceeding with your invalid impeachment, you are violating your oaths of office, you are breaking your allegiance to the Constitution, and you are declaring open war on American Democracy. You dare to invoke the Founding Fathers in pursuit of this election-nullification scheme—yet your spiteful actions display unfettered contempt for America’s founding and your egregious conduct threatens to destroy that which our Founders pledged their very lives to build. Even worse than offending the Founding Fathers, you are offending Americans of faith by continually saying “I pray for the President,” when you know this statement is not true, unless it is meant in a negative sense. It is a terrible thing you are doing, but you will have to live with it, not I!

Your first claim, "Abuse of Power,” is a completely disingenuous, meritless, and baseless invention of your imagination. You know that 1 had a totally innocent conversation with the President of Ukraine. I then had a second conversation that has been misquoted, mischaracterized, and fraudulently misrepresented. Fortunately, there was a transcript of the conversation taken, and you know from the transcript (which was immediately made available) that the paragraph in question was perfect. I said to President Zelensky: "1 would like you to do us a favor, though, because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it.” I said do us a favor, not me, and our country, not a campaign. I then mentioned the Attorney General of the United States. Every time I talk with a foreign leader. I put America's interests first, just as I did with President Zelensky.

You are turning a policy disagreement between two branches of government into an impeachable offense—it is no more legitimate than the Executive Branch charging members of Congress with crimes for the lawful exercise of legislative power.

You know full well that Vice President Biden used his office and $1 billion dollars of U.S. aid money to coerce Ukraine into firing the prosecutor who was digging into the company paying his son millions of dollars. You know this because Biden bragged about it on video. Biden openly stated: “I said. ‘I'm telling you, you're not getting the billion dollars...I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. He got fired.” Even Joe Biden admitted just days ago in an interview with NPR that it ‘‘looked bad.” Now- you are trying to impeach me by falsely accusing me of doing what Joe Biden has admitted he actually did.

President Zelensky has repeatedly declared that I did nothing wrong, and that there was No Pressure. He further emphasized that it was a “good phone call," that “I don’t feel pressure," and explicitly stressed that “nobody pushed me.” The Ukrainian Foreign Minister stated very clearly: “I have never seen a direct link between investigations and security assistance." He also said there was “No Pressure.” Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, a supporter of Ukraine who met privately with President Zelensky, has said: “At no time during this meeting...was there any mention by Zelensky or any Ukrainian that they were feeling pressure to do anything in return for the military aid.” Many meetings have been held between representatives of Ukraine and our country. Never once did Ukraine complain about pressure being applied—not once! Ambassador Sondland testified that I told him: “No quid pro quo. I want nothing. I want nothing. I want President Zelensky to do the right thing, do what he ran on.”

The second claim, so-called “Obstruction of Congress,” is preposterous and dangerous. House Democrats are trying to impeach the duly elected President of the United States for asserting Constitutionally based privileges that have been asserted on a bipartisan basis by administrations of both political parties throughout our Nation’s history. Under that standard, every American president would have been impeached many times over. As liberal law professor Jonathan Turley warned when addressing Congressional Democrats: “I can't emphasize this enough...if you impeach a president, if you make a high crime and misdemeanor out of going to the courts, it is an abuse of power. It’s your abuse of pow er. You’re doing precisely what you’re criticizing the President for doing.”

Everyone, you included, knows what is really happening. Your chosen candidate lost the election in 2016, in an Electoral College landslide (306-227), and you and your party have never recovered from this defeat. You have developed a full-fledged case of what many in the media call Trump Derangement Syndrome and sadly, you will never get over it! You are unwilling and unable to accept the verdict issued at the ballot box during the great Election of 2016. So you have spent three straight years attempting to overturn the will of the American people and nullify their votes. You view democracy as your enemy!

Speaker Pelosi, you admitted just last week at a public forum that your party’s impeachment effort has been going on for “two and a half years," long before you ever heard about a phone call with Ukraine. Nineteen minutes after I took the oath of office, the Washington Post published a story headlined, "The Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun.” Less than three months after my inauguration. Representative Maxine Waters stated, "I’m going to fight every day until he's impeached.” House Democrats introduced the first impeachment resolution against me within months of my inauguration, for what will be regarded as one of our country’s best decisions, the firing of James Comey (see Inspector General Reports)—who the world now knows is one of the dirtiest cops our Nation has ever seen. A ranting and raving Congresswoman, Rashida Tlaib, declared just hours after she was sworn into office, “We're gonna go in there and we're gonna impeach the motherf****r.” Representative Al Green said in May, “I'm concerned that if we don't impeach this president, he will get re-elected.” Again, you and your allies said, and did. all of these things long before you ever heard of President Zelensky or anything related to Ukraine. As you know very well, this impeachment drive has nothing to do with Ukraine, or the totally appropriate conversation I had with its new president. It only has to do with your attempt to undo the election of 2016 and steal the election of 2020!

Congressman Adam Schiff cheated and lied all the way up to the present day, even going so far as to fraudulently make up, out of thin air, my conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine and read this fantasy language to Congress as though it were said by me. His shameless lies and deceptions, dating all the way back to the Russia Hoax, is one of the main reasons we are here today.

You and your party are desperate to distract from America's extraordinary economy, incredible jobs boom, record stock market, soaring confidence, and flourishing citizens. Your party simply cannot compete with our record: 7 million new jobs; the lowest-ever unemployment for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Asian Americans; a rebuilt military; a completely reformed VA with Choice and Accountability for our great veterans; more than 170 new federal judges and two Supreme Court Justices; historic tax and regulation cuts; the elimination of the individual mandate; the first decline in prescription drug prices in half a century; the first new branch of the United States Military since 1947, the Space Force; strong protection of the Second Amendment; criminal justice reform; a defeated ISIS caliphate and the killing of the world's number one terrorist leader, al-Baghdadi; the replacement of the disastrous NAFTA trade deal with the wonderful USMCA (Mexico and Canada); a breakthrough Phase One trade deal with China; massive new trade deals with Japan and South Korea; withdrawal from the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal; cancellation of the unfair and costly Paris Climate Accord; becoming the world's top energy producer; recognition of Israel’s capital, opening the American Embassy in Jerusalem, and recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights; a colossal reduction in illegal border crossings, the ending of Catch-and-Release, and the building of the Southern Border Wall—and that is just the beginning, there is so much more. You cannot defend your extreme policies—open borders, mass migration, high crime, crippling taxes, socialized healthcare, destruction of American energy, late-term tax payer-funded abortion, elimination of the Second Amendment, radical far-left theories of law and justice, and constant partisan obstruction of both common sense and common good.

There is nothing I would rather do than stop referring to your party as the Do-Nothing Democrats. Unfortunately, I don’t know that you will ever give me a chance to do so.

After three years of unfair and unwarranted investigations, 45 million dollars spent, 18 angry Democrat prosecutors, the entire force of the FBI. headed by leadership now proven to be totally incompetent and corrupt, you have found NOTHING! Few people in high position could have endured or passed this test. You do not know, nor do you care, the great damage and hurt you have inflicted upon wonderful and loving members of my family. You conducted a fake investigation upon the democratically elected President of the United States, and you are doing it yet again.

There are not many people who could have taken the punishment inflicted during this period of time, and yet done so much for the success of America and its citizens. But instead of putting our country first, you have decided to disgrace our country still further. You completely failed with the Mueller report because there was nothing to find, so you decided to take the next hoax that came along, the phone call with Ukraine—even though it was a perfect call. And by the way, when I speak to foreign countries, there are many people, with permission, listening to the call on both sides of the conversation.

You are the ones interfering in America’s elections. You are the ones subverting America’s Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political, and partisan gain.

Before the Impeachment Hoax, it was the Russian Witch Hunt. Against all evidence, and regardless of the truth, you and your deputies claimed that my campaign colluded with the Russians—a grave, malicious, and slanderous lie. a falsehood like no other. You forced our Nation through turmoil and torment over a wholly fabricated story, illegally purchased from a foreign spy by Hillary Clinton and the DNC in order to assault our democracy. Yet, when the monstrous lie was debunked and this Democrat conspiracy dissolved into dust, you did not apologize. You did not recant. You did not ask to be forgiven. You showed no remorse, no capacity for self-reflection. Instead, you pursued your next libelous and vicious crusade—you engineered an attempt to frame and defame an innocent person. All of this was motivated by personal political calculation. Your Speakership and your party are held hostage by your most deranged and radical representatives of the far left. Each one of your members lives in fear of a socialist primary challenger—this is what is driving impeachment. Look at Congressman Nadler’s challenger. Look at yourself and others. Do not take our country down with your party.

If you truly cared about freedom and liberty for our Nation, then you would be devoting your vast investigative resources to exposing the full truth concerning the FBI’s horrifying abuses of power before, during, and after the 2016 election—including the use of spies against my campaign, the submission of false evidence to a FISA court, and the concealment of exculpatory evidence in order to frame the innocent, the FBI has great and honorable people, but the leadership was inept and corrupt. I would think that you would personally be appalled by these revelations, because in your press conference the day you announced impeachment, you tied the impeachment effort directly to the completely discredited Russia Hoax, declaring twice that “all roads lead to Putin,’’ when you know that is an abject lie. I have been far tougher on Russia than President Obama ever even thought to be.

Any member of Congress who votes in support of impeachment—against every shred of truth, fact, evidence, and legal principle—is showing how deeply they revile the voters and how truly they detest America's Constitutional order. Our Founders feared the tribalization of partisan politics, and you are bringing their worst fears to life.

Worse still, I have been deprived of basic Constitutional Due Process from the beginning of this impeachment scam right up until the present. I have been denied the most fundamental rights afforded by the Constitution, including the right to present evidence, to have my own counsel present, to confront accusers, and to call and cross-examine witnesses, like the so-called whistleblower who started this entire hoax with a false report of the phone call that bears no relationship to the actual phone call that was made. Once I presented the transcribed call, which surprised and shocked the fraudsters (they never thought that such evidence would be presented), the so-called whistleblower, and the second whistleblower, disappeared because they got caught, their report was a fraud, and they were no longer going to be made available to us. In other words, once the phone call was made public, your whole plot blew up. but that didn't stop you from continuing.

More due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials.

You and others on your committees have long said impeachment must be bipartisan—it is not. You said it was very divisive—it certainly is, even far more than you ever thought possible—and it will only get worse!

This is nothing more than an illegal, partisan attempted coup that will, based on recent sentiment, badly fail at the voting booth. You are not just after me, as President, you are after the entire Republican Party. But because of this colossal injustice, our party is more united than it has ever been before. History will judge you harshly as you proceed with this impeachment charade. Your legacy will be that of turning the House of Representatives from a revered legislative body into a Star Chamber of partisan persecution.

Perhaps most insulting of all is your false display of solemnity. You apparently have so little respect for the American People that you expect them to believe that you are approaching this impeachment somberly, reservedly, and reluctantly. No intelligent person believes what you are saying. Since the moment I won the election, the Democrat Party has been possessed by Impeachment Fever. There is no reticence. This is not a somber affair. You are making a mockery of impeachment and you are scarcely concealing your hatred of me, of the Republican Party, and tens of millions of patriotic Americans. The voters are wise, and they are seeing straight through this empty, hollow, and dangerous game you are playing.

I have no doubt the American people will hold you and the Democrats fully responsible in the upcoming 2020 election. They will not soon forgive your perversion of justice and abuse of power.

There is far too much that needs to be done to improve the lives of our citizens. It is time for you and the highly partisan Democrats in Congress to immediately cease this impeachment fantasy and get back to work for the American People. While I have no expectation that you will do so, I write this letter to you for the purpose of history and to put my thoughts on a permanent and indelible record.

One hundred years from now, when people look back at this affair, I want them to understand it, and learn from it, so that it can never happen to another President again.

Sincerely yours,
Donald J Trump
President of the United States of America

Mitch McConnell’s recent statement that “everything I do during this, I’m coordinating with the White House counsel. There will be no difference between the president’s position and our position as to how to handle this” is unfair to anyone who still hopes that the Senate will show itself to be at least one institution in Washington to remember its constitutional duty and act accordingly. The president should be consulted, and so should the House managers who will press their case against him at trial. But allowing either side to dictate how the trial will be conducted is the very definition of the sham proceedings that Republicans have accused Democrats of staging.

Ironically, it would also rob President Trump of a legitimate claim to the exoneration he says he deserves. If evidence would clear his name, as he says it would, then the president should have no fear of having it tested in a trial. That includes unmuzzling key witnesses in his administration and releasing the documents pertinent to his phone call with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine.

Democrats would have the opportunity to ask questions and the president would get the chance to provide his answers and documentation. White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton, both of whom have firsthand knowledge of the aid package to Ukraine and the president’s questions about corruption there, have been forbidden by Trump to answer questions. That's a very peculiar thing Trump did because without them testifying, Trump can't actually be exonerated. Well, Trump could do something even more peculiar: he could loudly and persistently claim he was exonerated despite forbidding the testimony that exonerates him.

I guess I'll go with "thoughtful".

SECOND, you have to do more than throw a temper tantrum about Trump if you want to make a case. You claim that Trump ... what? Strong-armed Zelenskiy? Colluded with Russia?

Like I said before, these are real people and they have to operate in real space, not in your imaginary world. Let's look at the notion that Trump strong-armed Zelenskiy.

How did he do it? Who did he talk to? Some people (Vindeman, Ciamarella supposedly) actually listened to the phone call between Trump and Zelenskiy, but NONE of them claimed that the transcript was inaccurate. And there's nothing in the transcript that's problematic.

So you're left supposing that there were OTHER phone calls or OTHER communications. Did anyone call Ukraine? Did anyone fly there? Were there visitors to the WH or other meetings elsewhere? Who attended them? What about the OTHER end of this interaction? Anyone from Zelenskiy's office complaining? (Zelenskiy himself says no pressure.)

If the House Dems really wanted to impeach Trump, it seems to me that there were a lot of places that they could have looked, but they either didn't - or they did and found nothing because nothing was brought to Congress to warrant an impeachment.

I think the Dems were hoping to "put Trump on the stand" and have him make a fool of himself, but he wisely stayed out of it because there was absolutely no upside to trying to defend yourself over nothing.

JO, SECOND, CC, THUGR, WISHY: you can drive yourself nuts (or have someone do it for you) by repeating over and over again stuff for which there is no evidence or makes no sense. But when events happen and you want to know THE TRUTH, try and evaluate this from first principles. It's like the (apparently) staged "gas attack" in Douma (official report from which 20 OPCW inspectors are now dissenting).

There is a gas attack - what kind of footprint and evidence does is leave? The munitions (cylindes, chemical weapons shells, rocket bodies and so forth), the symptoms of the victims, and the residues of the chemical weapons themselves - not only in the bodies and blood of the victims but also in their hair, clothes, and environmental samples.

Same with with "collusion" ... these people aren't communicating using telepathy. There have to be contacts, phone calls, tranmsissions, meetings, emails ...

MH17 - metal fatigue and microfractures indicating the speed of rupture (was it an explosion? High explosive? Decompression?) The damage holes, debris field, trace metal found on edges of damage holes, satellite imagery and ground-based radar, black box recording, shrapnel found on the ground, etc etc.

Start from first principles. Imagine the event and ALL of the necessary steps that would leave traces. Create a bit of a checklist BEFORE you start parsing the news. Think about what would be necessary to convince a reasonable person (you) that something happened. Remember, you can never prove a negative, so you will never find proof that NOTHING happened: You can always "what if" yourself into ever-less-likely scenarios. That way leads to paranoia so don't do that. Try to reel in your "what ifs" baxk to reality.

Don't be satisfied if only one or two (OR NONE) of the possible evidence is discussed

And be ESPECIALLY WARY wary if the accusers toss up a lot of distractions and emotional appeals OR FAKE STORIES, or if the accusations keep shifting faster than you can track them, because if that happens, you are likely dealing with a PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN.

In the Saddam had WMD hoax .. well, most pieces of "evidence" brought forward (Those aluminum tubes weren't for nuclear centrifuges because they didn't have the right specs, they were rocket bodies. That "yellowcake" contract was almost immediately exposed as a forgery) were exposed almost immediately as FAKE NEWS, and the remainder (a grainy photo of a nondescript building in the the desert, testimony from Curveball that made no sense at all) were unconvincing. The entire narrative - that we should be fearful of Saddam's "nuclear bombs" even tho he was 8000 miles away and had no means of delivering them- made no sense at all. Meanwhile, a REAL investigation (Hans Blix) was going on.

DID THAT STOP THE PROPAGANDA BLITZ?
NOT ON YOUR LIFE!
The WH simply ramped up Project Fear and put it in overdrive, blizzarding the media with an endless kalaidescope of ever-shifting allegations and images intended to stampede the American people into war.

And guess what?

Mission accomplished!

THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH TRUMP BTW.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO REACH CONCLUSION RIGHT AWAY. It's OK to withhold judgment until more reliable facts are in. All that means is that you won't be stampeded by propaganda.

Just, yanno, a piece of advice.

Trump not only refused to participate but he blocked all those who the democrats subpoenaed from testifying. Some chose to testify anyway. He further blocked all documents from being turned over while claiming at the same time he did nothing wrong.

Jeez, another swamp-supporting maroon. (And that's an insult to maroons everywhere.)

I posted that I AGREE with Trump's letter, not that I'm using it as PROOF of anything, ya maroon. I looked into the so-called testimony against Trump and it was an empty bag. The articles of impeachment are meaningless ... a hollow charade. I have other sources of info - more reliable than Trump and more reliable that whoever the fuck it is YOU listen to ... and I have a pretty good view of what's going on. And I apply way more thought and logic and I'm certainly more objective than you, and far less biased than the partisan hacks (of both parties) in Congress.

For example, while Trump or counsel could have responded to the witnesses that the Dims called, they could not call witnesses of their own. So they could not bring the original "gossip blower", Eric Ciamarella, to the stand. Why respond to a cavalcade of gossip-mongers, because that is what they all were: In Fiona Hill's own words they saw nothing, heard nothing, and did nothing. And if you had two neurons to rub together you would have noticed that too, so I can only conclude that you have only one neuron.

The articles of impeachment? Have been scaled back from "quid pro quo" and "blackmail" and "extortion" and "bribery" to mumbles and whispers because the Dims know there's no "there" there. Otherwise they would have nailed Trump with something real.

One more thing, oh witless one, when you post that

He or anybody else couldn't be ordered by the House Dems to do anything. There was going to be a Supreme Court ruling on that (and there still may be), but Pelosi didn't want to wait and wanted to get this all out of the way before Christmas break.

Since everybody knows this is a partisan shit show from day one, why bother going to or even having any pro-Trump witnesses speak at it? Especially when the Republicans had the home court advantage in the Senate and will have the last say in the matter.

The Democrats are about to doom themselves with this vote.

You far lefties are going to have a great Christmas... although I assume that won't be the case in a lot of instances because there is bound to be almost as much fighting at Christmas parties this year as there was in 2016.

In any case, enjoy lording over this empty and meaningless victory and milk it for all that it is worth.

2020 is going to be the bloodbath for the Democrats that I predicted it would be. The fact that you have house Democrats that have flipped, others that have said they wouldn't be impeaching but they would be censuring and the fact that the polling aggregates now show that popular opinion against impeachment of Trump is nearly as high as support for impeachment ever was and now Trump has an aggregate approval rating of 44.5 on the day of the impeachment is a tragedy for Democrats going forward.

You do realize that is a 3.5 gap between what is dangerously close to his all time high approval rating and people who are now against impeachment, don't you?

That means that there are probably millions of people (in the middle) who aren't generally in support of Trump that do not want to see him impeached, but they're going to do it anyhow.

While you're celebrating this Christmas, I hope that little unreported tidbit sticks in your craw like a sliver that is too deep to pull out and ruins your parade.

Merry Early Christmas.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Oh... and BTW.

If you think that I'm full of shit here, just remember what the betting odds are. As of last night, Trump's chances look great.

https://www.oddsshark.com/other/2020-usa-presidential-odds-futures

Quote:

We’re a day away from President Donald Trump’s likely impeachment and his odds to win the 2020 presidential election are the best they’ve been since late August. For the first time since August 27, Trump’s odds to win are back in minus money at -105 as the overwhelming favorite to win the 2020 election.

After a Loyola Marymount University labor dispute was tentatively resolved, the sixth Democratic debate will go on as planned this Thursday night. While former vice-president Joe Biden remains the left side of the aisle’s favorite, we have two notable slides since last week. Rising star Pete Buttigieg’s odds sank from +625 to +1000, behind Bernie Sanders, who remained flat at +800. Senator Elizabeth Warren’s odds (+1200) fell below 10-to-1 for the first time since I started tracking these on a weekly basis back in August. For context, Warren’s odds were +800 back on July 11.

Although the candidates’ odds aren’t expected to change much, we’ll update after the impeachment vote dust settles.

Just like Trump CORRECTLY POINTED OUT -

YOU were for impeachment BEFORE TRUMP EVER PERFORMED ANY ACTUAL DUTIES - let alone any impeachable offenses.

THUGGER we already know what YOU are: YOU are a person whose primary goal is 'defeat' of Russia. YOU don't give a FUCK about the US. YOU have no loyalty to this country, its welfare, the democratic process, or the people in it. The US is merely a tool for you - to be expended, damaged, used, or whatever it takes, to achieve YOUR primary anti-Russia goal. YOU are the anti-US persona.

In fact, every one of the of the people on this board who have a monomaniacal anti-Trump agenda, that brooks no facts, has a deep-seated EMOTIONAL twist that takes them out of reality. And, THUGGER, that includes you.

Since the impeachment proceedings began, 600,000 new donors have contributed to the Republican National Committee, according to Axios. Last week alone, just as the House Judiciary Committee adopted two articles of impeachment, the Trump campaign and RNC together took in more than $10 million in small-dollar donations.

Unfortunately, the FEC only has the reciepts for both committies updated as of 10/31/2019, so outside of the committies bragging (or hiding) any new numbers, that is all we have this is official right now.

DNC FEC Receipts/Debts/Cash on hand:

https://www.fec.gov/data/committee/C00010603/

Total Receipts: $75,544,896.04
Total Expenditures: $75,346,654.24
Ending Cash on Hand: $8,749,032.57
Total Debts: $7,048,710.14

(It is unclear, at least as far as I could dig, why the FEC claims that the DNC has around $1.7 Million cash on hand that isn't backed by debt, when the receipts and expenditures without any debt taken out only show them with a little less than $200,000 on hand, but... whatever. Drop in the bucket.

They've got somewhere between $200,000 and $1.7 Million at their disposal.)

RNC FEC Receipts/Debts/Cash on hand:

https://www.fec.gov/data/committee/C00003418/

Total Receipts: $194,019,461.15
Total Expenditures: $156,139,056.95
Ending Cash on Hand: $61,381,965.63
Total Debts: ZERO

(Once again, I'm not sure how these numbers are justified on the FEC website. Maybe they've added things to these numbers for both parties and not entirely reconsiliated them yet. Though percentage/ratio-wise, the RNC calculations are far more accurate, whatever bogus math they used for the DNC inflating their "ending cash on hand" numbers just appears to have been magnified for the RNC here because they have so much more money, so it ends up being a much larger discrepancy dollar-wise.

They've got somewhere between $38 Million and $61 million at their disposal.)

Bottom line is, as of 10/31/2019, the RNC's cash on hand absolutely dwarfs that of the DNC, and the RNC has never had to go out and borrow any cash while the DNC borrowed nearly 10 million and is literally just barely staying afloat.

I have no word from anybody what the DNC has pulled in during the last week, but if Axios is to be believed the RNC has a further $10 Million at their disposal just from new small donations in the last week alone. This doesn't include other donations in that time period, or any donations at all in between the beginning of November and the first two weeks of December.

Once again....

Follow the money, dummies.

So, as anyone who's been following the news (and not just trolling for propaganda) realizes, some members of the Trump administration refused to testify in secret hearings without counsel present, citing executive privilege. In other instances, the subpoenas were challenged over jurisdiction. Those issues were put to the courts, and have worked their way up from lower court to federal court to ... The Supreme Court.

Well, the headline is a bit over-stated. However, it challenges the democrats' contention that Trump is obstructing Congress simply by claiming executive privilege - or at least, it helps establish the right to have Congressional subpoenas adjudicated in court.

We'll see.

1kiki, did you even understand the argument the article made, which was that every subpoena by the House, not just the ones to clients that Dershowitz is defending, must go to the Supreme Court first or else the subpoena is unconstitutional? It is a completely insane Dershowitz fantasy/idea, but you bought that idea as if it had weight in the real world: "That second article of impeachment charges President Trump with obstruction of Congress for refusing to comply with the congressional subpoenas in the absence of a final court order. In so charging him, the House Judiciary Committee has arrogated to itself the power to decide the validity of subpoenas, and the power to determine whether claims of executive privilege must be recognized, both authorities that properly belong with the judicial branch of our government, not the legislative branch. The House of Representatives will do likewise, when it votes to approve the articles, as the chamber is expected to do so Wednesday."

As President Trump Tweets And Deletes, The Historical Record Takes Shape

Trump makes entire conversations with foreign leaders, which by law are suppose to be part of the historic record, vanish by destroying notes, recordings, whatever he can get his tiny little hands on: "It's against the law. The Presidential Records Act, which Congress passed back in 1978, was meant to deal precisely with this because Richard Nixon had said, "No, all those Watergate tapes, they're my personal property. I can do anything I want to with them." And Congress said, "Nope, that's not right. If you're working for the taxpayer, the records belong to the taxpayer." Where the big disputes are is how much review the courts can have over what the president does and how much people like us at the National Security Archive can intervene. We've got a lawsuit right now about the White House visitor logs because this business with the interpreter's notes, it's not the first time President Trump has tried to push the envelope shall we say, or rip up the envelope."

The first years of Trump’s term were marked by an investigation into whether Trump’s campaign was helped by Russia. Trump repeatedly and angrily denied the allegations, and in the end, Mueller’s investigation did not find proof of direct coordination between Trump and the Russian President, though it did find repeated efforts on Trump’s behalf to obstruct the investigation.

In the aftermath of that investigation, Trump turned to Ukraine and did exactly what he was accused of doing with Russia. The facts of this aren’t in doubt and haven’t been since September, when Trump released an edited record of his “perfect” conversation with Ukrainian President.

If Trump’s behavior is exposed but the Republican Party protects him from consequences, the lesson he’ll draw is clear: Do it again, but more so.

It’s the pattern of Trump’s career. If something works for him, he does it again — and he does it bigger, louder, and more aggressively. You can see it in Trump putting his name on his own towers to putting it on anything that would pay, you can see it in how he realized he could refuse to pay contractors and turned it into a business practice.

Trump believes what he did was right, and that the wrongdoing is entirely on the part of the Democrats and the media, who are unfairly persecuting him. So why wouldn’t he do this, and worse, again — particularly as the 2020 election nears and his legacy hangs in the balance?

It would almost be better if Republicans simply said Trump’s actions were wrong but that the power of impeachment was too divisive, and too severe, to deploy. But the argument they’re actually converging around — because it is the argument Trump himself makes — is that there was nothing improper in what Trump did. Go ahead and use the office of the presidency to gain personal political advantage in upcoming elections. While you are at it, cheat your contractors out of their pay.

Pelosi can deside to not send the Impeachment to the Senate. She can stik it in a drawer and forget about it and rob Moscow Mitch uv hiz power to throw it in the trash. And rob Trump uv an 'exoneration'.

Moments after a historic vote to impeach President Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House could at least temporarily withhold the articles from the Senate — a decision, she suggested, that could depend on how the other chamber chooses to conduct its trial on Trump’s removal.

“We cannot name managers until we see what the process is on the Senate side,” she said, referring to the House “managers” who present the case for removal to the Senate. “So far we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us. So hopefully it will be fair. And when we see what that is, we’ll send our managers.”

The comments came as a group of House Democrats pushed Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other leaders to withhold the articles — a notion that has gained traction among some on the political left as a way of potentially forcing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to conduct a trial on more favorable terms for Democrats. And if no agreement is reached, some have argued, the trial could be delayed indefinitely, denying Trump an expected acquittal.

Pelosi would not answer questions about whether she was entertaining an indefinite hold on the articles — one that could prevent a trial from taking place before the next presidential election.

“We’re not having that discussion,” she said, adding that it “would have been our intention” to send the articles forthwith, “but we’ll see what happens over there.”

She continued: “We’re not sending it tonight because it’s difficult to determine who the managers would be until we see the arena in which we will be participating.”

GDP got confused with government revenue: www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Economy/Budget/Revenues

What the comparison should be is
Russia government revenue (not GDP)
$416.80 billion
Ranked 12th.

U.S. government revenue (not GDP)
$2.45 trillion
Ranked 1st. 6 times more than Russia

Obviously, Russia gets more bang for a buck, possibly because US weapons and US Medicare/Medicaid are vastly overpriced compared to what is delivered.

After Trump impeachment vote in the House, Nancy Pelosi and Democrats have one card left. The strategy is unprecedented — but it's probably the best chance Democrats have of preventing a rigged Senate trial.

For weeks, the White House and congressional Republicans have been complaining that the Democrats' case is based on hearsay. "Their understanding, which is the foundation of the case for the Democrats, was based on secondhand information," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters on Nov. 14.

Now is the chance to hold lawmakers like McCarthy to their own rhetorical standard. According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, more than 7 in 10 Americans think top Trump administration officials, such as acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former national security adviser John Bolton, should be FORCED to testify before Congress. That includes 64 percent of Republicans and 72 percent of independents.

A bipartisan consensus like that is extremely rare.
