Jayne moved Kaylee across the room, sitting her down on the couch, all without loosening his embrace around the young mechanic.

“Shhhh!” he soothed, “’S okay, Kaylee girl.”

Kaylee looked into his deep blue eyes, gulping down a sob.

Jayne reached out and gently wiped her tears away. He pressed soft kisses along the trails left by her tears.

Kaylee sighed, responding to his tender kisses.

Jayne pulled back and gazed into her eyes, bringing his forehead to rest against hers.

“What can I do ta make ya feel better?”

Kaylee rested a warm hand against his cheek and gently caressed his strong jaw line.

“This is all I need. Ta be with you.”

“Aw, Kaylee girl. I need ta do somethin’ for ya, or get ya somethin’.”

“Ummm. What would I like?” she considered seriously.

Jayne smiled as he watched the intense look of concentration on her face.

Kaylee glanced up and saw him smiling. She blushed. “What did I do?” she asked.

“Nothin’,” Jayne answered, caressing her cheek, “Ya just so mei li.”

She blushed again. Then she gasped, “I know what I want!”

“Anythin’, baby girl.”

“Gummy bears!” she said, with a grin on her face.

Jayne was always amazed how excited Kaylee would get over the littlest things. Take this for example. He would have gotten her anything to see a smile on her mei li face again, but all she had asked for was candy.

“Come on, darlin’,” Jayne coaxed Kaylee, “Let’s go get these Gummy bears.”

“Xie xie, bao-bei” she beamed, pressing a tender kiss to his jaw.

“Ya welcome, honey,” Jayne whispered back, glad to see that smile back where it belonged.
