Yippee-kay-ay! According to an article on TV Guide Online, FOX has commissioned three more scripts for Joss Whedon's Firefly. Whedon believes the order is a vote of confidence on FOX's part and a way for the network to hold off on making a decision about the fate of the series. "The next few weeks will be important," said Whedon, "and this week I'm particularly stressing because I think it's such a good entrance into the [Firefly] world. That's why I'm all hyped about it."

"[This week's episode, 'Out of Gas'] has a number of flashbacks to how the crew got together," said Whedon, "so it's a really good way to learn how it all began. For somebody meeting the characters for the first time, it's a real insight into who they are. There's not all this [plot] information to process, which is a problem because the pilot was never shown. People are like, 'Um, what's going on?' The idea was never to confuse people."

Structured 'Pulp Fiction' style, 'Out of Gas' details the history of the Serenity and her crew in a series of flashbacks when Mal is injured after an explosion rocks through the Serenity and slowly depletes the ship of oxygen.

Yes, this is very good. If Fox we're hell bent on killing this, they wouldn't have commissioned the scripts. Not saying that the show still isn't in danger, but this is a ggod sign

Little Question. What exactly does that mean? Does that mean they've gotten the go ahead to write the episodes up to 13 (which can't be since we know they've already written at least up to nine, with Serenity included) That means they'd only need Two scripts to reach 13? Does this mean up to 15???

Help me!

Likes to mess with stuffs.

I think it's 15.

Current 11 episodes + 'Serenity' + 3 new epsiodes = 15.

Well, Serentiy would count as 2, so that would be 16 out of a potential 22.

I guess Fox pays a certain amount for having the scripts written, and antes up the rest if they choose to put them into production. As Joss said, they are basically stalling on having to make a decision about a full pick-up, since they wouldn't be able to wait several more weeks without jeapordizing the production schedule.

Since the decision if they had to make it today would be 'cancel', any delay in that is a plus.

Fox have been running a decent amount of promos for "Firefly" during the World Series all week long...a show of support that should not be overlooked.

FYI, last week during the NLCS, Fox ran promos for "John Doe"...
