Quote:Democrats are mostly responsible for the drop in U.S. pride this year, with 36% saying they are extremely or very proud, down from 62% a year ago. This is only the second time Democrats’ pride has fallen below the majority level, along with a 42% reading in 2020, the last year of the first Trump administration. That poll was conducted during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and shortly after the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers. Political independents’ pride has also reached a low point, with 53% expressing a great deal of pride, down seven points from last year, which had been the previous low for this group. Independents’ pride has been declining since the early 2000s, dropping below 80% for the first time in 2005, then below 70% in 2019 and below 60% this year. Republicans' level of national pride has been much steadier, typically registering above 90%, including 92% this year, up from 85% in 2024. The only years in which fewer than nine in 10 Republicans were proud were 2016 and 2020 through 2024. All but 2020 were when a Democratic president was in office.

Quote: Now... One could make a very valid argument that while one side flip/flops on a dime because they have no core values, the other side chooses to wear blinders to everything both sides are doing when asked this question, but that's probably an argument to be made in one of hundreds of other threads here.

Nicely put. That was what I was trying to say.
Quote:On a related note ... on another website, one hot headed hispanic, after posting a long list of things he's angry about (endless war, corporatism, ICE raids and herr Fuhrer) tried to rally people into boycotting the 4th of July. Every single comment, almost entirely hispanic, said something like "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. I came thru the ftont door, and I'm gonna celebrate."
Quote:Interesting. Compared to south of the border, it's not so bad here.

Just wanted to make that clear to everyone, since it seems that JSF was the only person who was catching what I was throwing. I hate this way of reporting and the fact that it is the norm. 75% of the people who read that headline in the last few days will pass it on and believe it, because it came from Gallup even though instead of just reporting the boring facts, they chose the ONLY way they could put that headline out there, which is to lie by omission. And this is the most trusted polling firm in the US doing that. Quote:Quote: Now... Every single comment, almost entirely hispanic, said something like "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. I came thru the ftont door, and I'm gonna celebrate."This is what Democrats don't understand. Most of the voting Hispanic population put their time in and did things the hard way. I probably take for granted the actual knowledge I hold, being from the midwest with a mom who married a Hispanic man, who had a Mexican step-father and got to grow up meeting and knowing his brothers and sisters and all of their kids. These people grew up living in a train caboose literally picking cotton while their expert leatherman father made money doing skilled labor and their mom did all the traditional "Mom / Wife" things. These people don't like watching anybody leapfrogging and cheating the system. Many of the men served in the military when they were young. Most of them work or worked all life with their hands doing manual labor. Only a rare few went to college. But most of them lived successful lives and raised kids of their own. And most of them saw at least one or two of their own children go to college. The most patriotic person I knew growing up was my ex-Marine 100% Mexican Step-Dad. He got pissed off at my brothers and I and our entire generation for how much we took for granted. Not only was that coming from an ex soldier, but from a cotton picking beaner who laughed harder than anybody at Cheech and Chong when he sang "Mexican American, go to high school, take Spanish.... Get a "B"... The reason that joke was funny is because he grew up speaking Spanish fluently, but nobody taught him how to read before he went to high school... and he was too busy picking cotton and doing other work most days to ever show up for grade school. I don't think I ever would have truly gotten that joke if it weren't for his insight. Quote:Interesting. Compared to south of the border, it's not so bad here.

We're not that long off from a growing amount of individuals who have no loyalty and/or hate America from legally running for and holding positions of power in our country. I'll bet on the lower tier stuff from alderman to sheriff it's already happening on a level much higher than most people are even aware. All right in their own cities and towns while they're blissfully ignorant of local politics and politicians. -------------------------------------------------- "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore." ~Paul Simon
