This is honestly one of the saddest things I've seen in a while...

Quote:

Former Clinton strategist James Carville laments that what Democrats are doing against Donald Trump is "really, really not working."

"Everything we're that throwing is spaghetti at a wall, and none of it is sticking, me included," Carville said.

JAMES CARVILLE: Trump’s more ahead than he’s ever been, more -- fewer people think January 6 was any kind of what it was, an assault on the temple of democracy, our Constitution, whatever you want to say.

It’s going the wrong way. It’s not working. Everything that we’re throwing is spaghetti at a wall, and none of it is sticking, me included. It's hard starting your 80th year, and like everyone else I have an opinion of myself. And the opinion I've come to is I don’t matter.

It doesn’t matter. You can prepare and you can be on TV, you can write pieces, you can have a YouTube channel, you can have a podcast and nothing, nothing!

We’ve got to try to think of something different because what we’re doing in really really not working.

Happy 80th man...

Why are you still doing this to yourself? You've done more than your fair share of time.

You had a good run, buddy. Most people figure out that they don't matter many decades before you did.

Why don't you try to get in touch with some of your old high school buddies and set up a fishing weekend or something. Maybe dig up that old bucket list and see if there aren't a few things you can cross off of it. There's got to be a million things to do out there that are better than whatever you're putting yourself through right now. I'm sure a man of means such as yourself can find at least a few of them you'd enjoy doing.

I wonder when SECOND will realize that HE doesn't matter?

Or, any verification or thought.

I hope for him that he does. It's liberating.

I imagine that the reason some or most of us come here is to have some sort of purpose. In real life sometimes it seems like you could just be screaming your opinion into the void and nothing you say or think really matters.

But even when we're just insulting each other over and over every day we're not being ignored. Our opinions or ideas may be going ignored, but that's not what I'm getting at here. Our voices aren't 1 among billions that just get lost in the trillions of posts as they become nothing but 1's and 0's that will be archived until the end of time but nobody will probably ever read.

I miss that about old websites like this. If you went and signed up for a Twitter account now and started putting your opinions out there, good luck getting anyone to notice. You might get a few likes or even follows here or there over time if you're early to reply to a post somebody of note made, but 95% of them are going to be Catfish, and only a few people are going to have meaningful replies to something you say, whether they disagree with you or not. If it was a friendly encounter, you might exchange pleasantries and then likely never speak with each other again. If it was adversarial, it would probably last a little longer than that, but eventually one person would tire out and abandon the conversation and/or block you and that's that.

There's quite a few days where I interact with people on this website more than I do with people in real life. Not on the phone, but in person on a lot of days for sure. And we're all basically retired or semi-retired in here, so maybe that's true for some more of us that don't admit it.

I think we're all kind of like Heath Ledger's Joker in a way. We don't want to kill Batman, because without Batman we wouldn't have that constant struggle to return to whenever we get the itch.

If you and me left, I think Second would stop posting here altogether after a month. If he did ever post here again I think it would be for downloads of any new Firefly comics. Ted might take a lot longer to leave and still post in the tags with Brenda. I have a feeling he would probably never quit stopping by from time to time as long as the site was still up. NGL, I'd probably lose interest if Second and Ted left, at least in the political posting. I'm sure I'd still post stuff in the Garden... Projects I'm working on and seeing what you both are up to, but it probably wouldn't be as frequently when I'm not coming here for my daily sparring matches.

As long as Haken keeps the lights on and the rest of us don't head for the hills, we're probably not doing anything real productive here, but at least we're not shouting into the void.

And when I look at it in that light, even I can admit that I miss having people like Wishy and Cap'n posting here. I certainly would welcome any posts from JO or Byte or Frem and probably a dozen or two others that haven't posted in a very long time.

I don't paticulalry care for sparring myself, altho it does sometimes get the motor going in the morning, along with a cuppa.

I do appreciate SECOND'S PSA propaganda. If I want to know what the M$M wants us to think about climate change, Ukraine, and Trump, he does collect all the latest propaganda points in one convenient place.

This is my "think out loud" place, where I'm free to mull over current events, speculate about underlying processes*, or think about solutions to problems that seem important.

* Like societies behaving like giant organisms, with individuals being cells: too small to comprehend the larger whole. With all of same processes of an organism: energy and material consumption, internal circulation of energy and goods, production, cell differentiation (division of labor), cell reproduction, waste disposal. Societies that eat, grow, mature, colonize other areas, change, and shrink into scenescence or die.

Interesting discussions used to be had. Real zingers were posted: observations I would have never noticed, connections I would have never made, predictions that were eerily prescient. I know my limitations, I'm not the most creative thinker, but I appreciate people who are.

It's an online diary, of a sorts, and not just for me. I don't put my deepest feelings "out there" but it's nice to be able to write about what I accomplished, or what's been happening to me.

And I like to read about what you and BRENDA are doing, what's happening in your lives. I feel a personal connection. I miss you when the site goes down, and worry about you (pl) if you don't post for a while. I refer to you as "my online buddies" and wush there was a way to extend that IRL.

Thank goodness Haken, whoever he us, has kept the porch lights on for us.

Hehe...

It's your "think out loud place" and my "Political Toilet".

I don't read what Second or Ted post here to know what the Legacy Media programming of the day is because they just repeat the same talking points that I see the youtubers I get news from break down to expose the chronic lies and hypocrisy. But I can confirm that your system is sound since they usually echo the topic of the day, sometimes verbatim.

Just wait until AI gets thrown in the mix and human beings become little more than the reproductive organs of our creation.

I think we have some interesting conversations still... and I wouldn't be so quick to discount the quality of today's zingers, even if the quantity is a fraction of what it once was.

Yeah. It's sad what happened to all the sites like this when Web 2.0 dropped and everything became consolidated as things always eventually do. I know their are still others like this around, even ones that still have far more activity than we've got here... but they're all probably living on borrowed time. Anybody keeping a site like this up has monthly expenses to keep it running and has to babysit it, even if they're not interested at all in the topic they created a community around.

I could be wrong, but based off of various conversations I've had over the years on the topic, I do not believe that anybody is currently donating to Haken for keeping this place running. Assuming he's not an employee of an Alphabet Agency that's really nice of him to keep doing this. I've been members of other similar sites over the years that got shut down when they still had a lot more going on than we do here. It's kind of like losing a whole bunch of friends when it happens. Maybe you've exchanged emails with somebody and you have good intentions to follow up with them, but I don't think the long-term success rate of that type of virtual pen-pal relationship is very high.

I agree with all of that, and the feelings are mutual.

Yup. I have no idea why you do it buddy, but thanks for letting us all stay well past Last Call.

Carville: Trump Will Outsource The Judiciary To Leonard Leo, Energy Policy To Big Oil, And Foreign
Policy To Russia

Hey James. Nobody cares what you have to say. Remember? Certainly not when being interviewed
by the country's most proficient liar by trade.

You looked like an alien back on 9/11. Now we know what aliens look like when they turn 80.

James Carville: Democrats Should "Steal Trump's Medical Records" And Find Out If He Has "Secondary Syphilis," "It's A Relevant Issue"

You see the kind of people we have to deal with here?

Somebody should steal Carville's DNA records and see if his parents were actually human.

James Carville Reveals He Thought Biden Should Not Have Run for Re-Election: ‘Quite Disheartening’

https://www.mediaite.com/politics/james-carville-says-biden-should-not
-have-ran-against-trump-quite-disheartening
/

Quote:

“They feel like two 80-year-old guys don’t mean much to them. I am really afraid that we are going to lose the generation of young people…That’s my greatest fear for the United States, that young people are disengaging,” he added

Moreover, Carville argued that Democrats have enough of a talent pool who would attract and engage with younger voters better tahn Biden, such as House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)

“There’s so much talent, and a lot of it is young and vigorous and energetic,” the veteran political strategist noted. “I think Hakeem Jeffries is doing a great job… as [House] leader.”

Oh please. Run Hakeem Jeffries right now and see what happens.
