Finally!

A month or so ago the EU decided to standardize on USB C. aside from being symmetric (can be plugged in either way) the connector is a little larger and more rugged than micro USB.

A lot of the more recent USB devices are already being sold as USB C, and there are USB C to micro USB converters. Get 'em while they're available.

That's good news. It's stupid that on a pretty much universal concept the idiots out there figured out a way to make it a problem again in the first place. But at least it's been better than the old days where you'd need to buy a new car charger every time you bought a phone because it seemed that every phone had a different proprietary jack.

As much as I'd love to, I could never bring myself to install even one single outlet that had USB jacks on it though. I think it's the perfect design and it's obviously had what it takes to be extremely upgradable up to this point, but the second I hard wire them into my walls the industry is going to move to something else.
