Yeah, that caught my eye. Then I looked at a photo, and it looks like aluminum to me. It just has that color and luster. IIRC, the original monolith was an unknown material. I'm pretty sure if they use a portable XRF they'll find the 'monolith' is made of aluminum, or other highly characterized Earth-origin metal. If it IS aluminum, that would give it a high recycle value. It's a good thing nobody disclosed the site.

I see a group of guys on 4Chan / Twitter went through satellite photos and dated it sometime between 2015 and 2016. October 2016 you see something shiny and a long shadow...possibly some planned hoax prank or unrealized art project rather than aliens but 4Chan have already spotted all those clouds, shadows and satellite pics, Thank goodness for interweb autism

Sadly, probably no.

Despite a recent rise putting it at a two year high, aluminum prices are still quite low.

Not that I would normally follow anything that gets traded anymore these days usually, but I got the aluminum for my house and gutters cheaper this summer than it would have cost 8 years ago when I got my first quote. And when the guys who were coming to put them up didn't come the day they were delivered because it was raining, the guy who ran them off the truck said I shouldn't even worry about laying them out because nobody would go to the trouble of stealing them because the recycle prices were so low.

Yeah. Had a pretty good laugh thinking about the trouble one would have to go to to rush into my back yard and bend and cut up 180 feet of Aluminum (in a HURRY... and without cutting up their hands), running back and forth about 300 feet to their truck, only to rush off to the scrap yard and barely make enough money to cover their gas for the trip.

It also makes me wonder if the people who got foreclosed on before I moved in actually got any money when they ripped all the aluminum off the house before they were out. I can't say that I don't understand the satisfaction somebody would get sticking it to the bank that way, but it would be a shame if the damage I let happen to my house by not replacing them for 8 or 9 years happened and they only got $5.00 for recycling them.
