Must One Be A Liberal To Imagine A Decade Just Ended?

Or that "a New Decade" just started?

Or must one be a Libtard?

Sure, a figurative decade is any set of 10 years, like from the end of 1985 to the end of 1995. Or, the first 10 years of Firefly and all of the copycats on TV and Film was from 2002 until 2011. Those are sets of 10 consecutive years.

Certainly any reasonable person understands that at the end of 2020 the world which follows the Gregorian Calendar will have celebrated the completion of the 202nd Decade AD. At this point now, we have completed the end of 201 Decades plus 9 years on the AD calendar.

But I keep hearing nitwits insist that we just ended "the Decade" as if the whole world has abandonded the Gregorian Calendar. Or, for that matter, the Julian Calendar.

Is this mental defect a product of TDS, Truth Denial, The FACTS Vaccine, the Subversion of Reality? Or just abysmal education, pretending that Collegium Gradutates are really, really, really educamated?

I think you're being to literal with it.

It depends on what angle you're talking about the decades in.

If somebody were to talk about the "roaring 20's", I would think of 1920 to 1929, even if the Gregorian or Julian calendars wouldn't agree.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

In 1920, the economy was still in the post-WWI recession. The GDP seems to have gained some momentum by 1923. The crash of 1929 may have well ended the Roaring Twenties. So from 1923-1929 spans about 6 years. Hardly a decade.

When folk refer to the 60's, many seem to mean it started around 1964, with the entrance of The Beatles to America. I have no idea why so many people consider this the gateway to the 60's but it seems pervasive. JFK took office in January 1961. Vietnam started in mid-60's, and continued into 1974. I think most folk who lived in 1960 would argue it was less a part of what "the 60's" became than those who still reveled in 1970. Meaning 1970 was more of the 60's than was 1960.

Your argument seems to fall down.

Whatever. It's not really an argument, because it would probably be hard to find something I care about less than this.

Just saying that it's probably got nothing to do with being a Liberal.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
