Now that House Dems are sure to be starting right in on Fake Impeachment 2020, they must also look forward to when that will also fail,

They must prepare for the next round.
Shadow theater scripts must be written, for it was far too obvious that the players this time around refused to stick to the script.

Sounds like today Trump became the first President Impeached for a Science Fiction feat.

Apparently after the Pelosi-Obiden goons executed their pre-planned attack upon the U.S. Capital and planned murder of Capital Police Officers, Trump exhorted some of his rally participants to go back in time and retroactively join the Pelosi-Obiden-McConnell goons in anarchy and riots, thereby "Inciting Riots" or somesuch.

Trump is just amazing.

He's also the only President to go through two fake impeachments.

Go Trump.

Trump is just amazing.

That was only from the initial reports.

Turns out he forced them to go back in time more than a day, when the bombs were placed in the Capitol Building. This way, when the Democrap Mob laid seige to the Capitol, mo betta charges would be able to be laid upon Trump, and the Trump Supporter of the future would be able to be blamed for all of the Democrap Mob's illegal and treasonous activities.

Impeachment for going back in time a whole day, that is impressive.

Trump's avoidance of the press acknowledges that his new lawyers (and his old lawyers before that) have made the case that he won’t be helping anything if he rambles for 45 minutes on the air with Maria Bartiromo or whatever low-rent propagandist equivalent they have hosting a show at OANN or Newsmax. All it would do is remind Senators on the fence about their impeachment votes what a nuisance he is.

In the past there's been only one way of successfully getting Trump to shut his yap: warning him that he might be in legal trouble if he says anything publicly. Trump has a lifelong addiction to the legal process, and advice from lawyers actually seems to get through to him sometimes.

Trump remains scared of the impeachment trial coming up and is taking his attorney's advice to say nothing until it's over. It's an unusually wise move from a man not noted for his wisdom.

Trump Didn’t Believe His Election Lies
His trial can prove it.

Trump will be asked under oath about what he was told by White House employees about the election. The answers he gives are important and can be verified for truthfulness by asking the same questions to the White House employees. Why are Trump's answers important? Very simple:

If Trump told his followers to march on the Capitol on Jan. 6 because he really thought the election had been stolen — some senators might cut him a break in his impeachment trial. But if Trump knew his allegations were bunk, and he sent his mob to the Capitol anyway, that’s a more coldblooded crime.

Firsthand accounts from Trump’s former aides, lawyers, and political allies suggest that he knew his allegations were false, flimsy, or baseless. He was repeatedly advised that his claims didn’t check out. He also privately admitted that some of these claims were dubious or absurd. Several episodes are worth exploring at his trial. Here are some of them.

Dec. 1. In a confrontation at the White House, Attorney General William Barr told Trump that the Department of Justice had looked into his fraud allegations and that they were “just bullshit.” Barr told Trump, “The stuff that these people are filling your ear with just isn’t true.” Barr told Trump that “the allegations about manipulated voting machines were ridiculously false.” Trump’s White House counsel, Pat Cipollone, backed up Barr in this meeting.

Dec. 18. In an Oval Office interrogation of Powell, White House senior adviser Eric Herschmann and staff secretary Derek Lyons shredded the lawyer’s allegations. Herschmann pressed Powell for evidence; she failed to supply it. Cipollone pointed out that the FBI and the Department of Justice had investigated every major claim of fraud. During this meeting, according to Axios, “Trump expressed skepticism at various points about Powell’s theories, but he said, ‘At least she’s out there fighting.’ ” He told Herschmann and Cipollone that they were “offering me nothing.”

Trump was repeatedly warned by his staff that what he said was false and baseless, and he acknowledged that these warnings were well founded and correct. That’s enough to establish that he knew he should stop. But Trump kept lying, and his lies caused a bloody insurrection. The Senate should judge him accordingly.

Congress Still Has One More Way to Ban Trump from Future Office

It’s Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which provides that “No person shall … hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”

To make the 14th Amendment useful against Trump in a modern political context, Congress likely needs to pass a new law. Unsurprisingly, the Constitution’s terms are not self-executing — that is, for an individual to seek judicial enforcement of the Constitution, Congress generally must have passed a statute giving litigants a cause of action.

Congress has done this as a matter of criminal — but not civil — law for Section 3. To enable judicial enforcement of Section 3 the 14th Amendment, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1870 (also known as the Enforcement Act or the First Ku Klux Klan Act), among other laws. Section 15 of that act makes it a misdemeanor to run for office when ineligible to do so under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, punishable by up to a year in prison. Section 14 of the same law also allows a federal prosecutor to forcibly remove an offender from office. (Congress later passed the Amnesty Act of 1872, which lifted political barriers for senior members of the former Confederacy.)

Whether the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden would have an appetite to indict Trump for a misdemeanor under the 1870 statute is highly dubious. When the act was drafted, everyone knew precisely what sections 14 and 15 were aimed at: former members of the Confederacy, whom Congress wanted to keep out of public office during Reconstruction. The act — and thus Section 3 itself — is outmoded.

Congress can enhance the enforceability of the 14th Amendment’s ban on certain individuals holding public office by permitting private citizens to bring lawsuits for alleged violations of Section 3. Of course, there’s plenty of precedent for statutes authorizing judicial causes of action.

What could happen, if Congress passes the suggested law, is citizens suing Trump to keep him off the ballot in 2024. Trump's lawyers will have to win the case that Trump was NOT engaged in insurrection or rebellion when he lied about winning the election and when he and people who work for Trump such as Giuliani called for a mob to stop V.P. Mike Pence from certifying the votes on January 6th, one month ago as of today.

The 14th Amendment was intended to keep Confederate politicians from murdering freed slaves. Despite losing, the politicians could not overcome their strange urges to kill blacks and Trump could not overcome his strange urge to kill: Trump carries out his 13th execution five days before the inauguration of Joe Biden — an opponent of the federal death penalty.

The last person Trump killed said as his last words: “I’d like to say I am an innocent man. ... I am not responsible for the deaths. I did not order the murders.” On the other hand, Trump did order the murder, is responsible, and is not innocent.

First of all, I'd like to point out that it when it comes to Trump's alleged beliefs, it doesn't matter what people told Trump. What one is told - even repeatedly - doesn't at all indicate what one believes.
Quote:

He also privately admitted that some of these claims were dubious or absurd.
With links - to articles that don't have any EVIDENCE for these claims. Hmmmmm. Where have we seen that before? Then, besides the articles not having EVIDENCE for those claims about Trump, they hedge them by using the word 'some' - and then not specifying which ones. Sounds like "around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat" to me.

And then the article goes on to quote many, many people who told Trump ... and let me point out AGAIN that people telling Trump all sorts of things has no bearing on whether or not he believed them.

So, aside from pointing out that this looks like more WMD propaganda with no EVIDENCE that TRUMP SAID anything about disbelieving his own claim(s), I'm going to put this in the 'predictions' thread.

As to the prediction, there may - or may not - be testimony of anything Trump may - or may not - have said. So this prediction might not be able to be graded. But if it is, I'll be curious to see if it's more propaganda, because it sure smells that way.

The predictions thread

I presume you don't like the insinuation that freak Trump gets a hard-on when he executes a prisoner? Biden hasn't said anything about Trump's necroerotism toward dead prisoners because that might offend 'Independent' voters, but Biden says Trump should no longer receive classified intelligence briefings because of "erratic" behavior. Erratic/erotic, Biden knows Trump is crazy. "Look, I ran like hell to defeat him because I thought he was unfit to be president," Biden said. Unfit is a very polite euphemism for what is wrong with Trump.

I realize that Trump voters never got excited about V.P. Mike Pence. It was always about Trump as President. Must have been because Pence is sane while Trump is floridly psychotic.

Florid psychotic phase, during which the patient exhibits acute symptoms--for example, severe delusions and/or hallucinations (positive symptoms), disorganized thinking and speech, more profound negative, withdrawal symptoms like flattened affect, reduced productivity (alogia), and decreased initiation of goal-directed behavior (avolition). That's a pretty good description of Trump's Presidency.

Incorrect: One of Washington’s leading conservative constitutional lawyers publicly broke on Sunday with the main Republican argument against convicting former President Donald J. Trump in his impeachment trial, asserting that an ex-president can indeed be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Since the rampage, Republicans have made little effort to excuse Mr. Trump’s conduct, but have coalesced behind the legal argument about constitutionality as their rationale for why he should not be tried, much less convicted. Their theory is that because the Constitution’s penalty for an impeachment conviction is removal from office, it was never intended to apply to a former president, who is no longer in office.

Mr. Cooper said they were misreading the Constitution.

“The provision cuts against their interpretation,” he wrote. He argued that because the Constitution allows the Senate to bar officials convicted of impeachable offenses from holding public office again in the future, “it defies logic to suggest that the Senate is prohibited from trying and convicting former officeholders.”

Mr. Cooper’s decision to take on the argument was particularly significant because of his standing in conservative legal circles. He was a close confidant and adviser to Senate Republicans, like Ted Cruz of Texas when he ran for president, and represented House Republicans — including the minority leader, Representative Kevin McCarthy of California — in a lawsuit against Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He is also the lawyer for conservative stalwarts like John R. Bolton and Jeff Sessions, and over his career defended California’s same-sex marriage ban and had been a top outside lawyer for the National Rifle Association.

But Mr. Cooper, who is said to be dismayed by the unwillingness of House and Senate Republicans to hold Mr. Trump accountable, took on the main claim made by his own confidants and clients, offering a series of scholarly and technical arguments for why the Constitution allows for a former president to stand trial.

It was unclear whether Mr. Cooper’s opinion would have any influence on the outcome of the trial. It could provide cover to Republican senators open to convicting Mr. Trump who were caught off guard by last month’s vote, forced by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, to effectively dismiss the case as unconstitutional. Some Republicans have since said they did not necessarily mean to signal that they were opposed to hearing the case, or had made up their minds about Mr. Trump’s guilt.

Seventeen Republicans would have to join with all 50 Democrats to reach the two-thirds threshold necessary to convict Mr. Trump — something that appears to be exceedingly unlikely.

But Mr. Cooper seemed to be working to change minds. He wrote in his opinion piece that in the short time since the vote, legal experts’ understanding of the issue had evolved and “exposed the serious weakness of Mr. Paul’s analysis.”

“The senators who supported Mr. Paul’s motion,” he wrote, “should reconsider their view and judge the former president’s misconduct on the merits.”

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin claimed Sunday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was to blame for the riot at the US Capitol rather than President Donald Trump.

Johnson made the accusation in an interview on Sunday with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.

Attempting to shift the blame elsewhere, Johnson said the impeachment was part of a plot to divert attention from Pelosi, and what she "knew" ahead of the riot. Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows also tried to shift blame for the riot from Trump on the network on Sunday.

He said: "I can tell you they [the Capitol Police] do a tremendous job, but they need to be empowered to do that job and there were plenty of assets there to assist them in their efforts," said Meadows. "And some of those decisions weren't made appropriately in my opinion and those decisions did not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue it came from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue," he continued.

The House Speaker has no role in day-to-day policing operations of the Capitol, reported the Associated Press in a fact check of the claims. But Trump did. He could stick his nose into anything.

With the recent 5th Impeachment of a President, the 3rd President to have been Impeached is still Trump - yet he remains the only President who was never Impeached for something he ever did.

The first Impeachment was very important for a number of reasons, and the Trial of Acquittal for Johnson was also just and important.

The 2nd and 3rd Impeachments were in need of Removal following Impeachment, for Clinton both times.

Since the Senate had no Constitutional Authority to either Try or Vote on Trial, this 5th Impeachment had no real Vote on Removal. Leaving the 4th Impeachment, the Fake Impeachment, as the last valid Impeachment Trial.

Since the Senate had no Constitutional Authority to either Try or Vote on Trial, this 5th Impeachment had no real Vote on Removal. Leaving the 4th Impeachment, the Fake Impeachment, as the last valid Impeachment Trial.

There were 19 Republican Senators who disagreed with you and Trump. 7 Republican Senators voted to convict because they weren't afraid of Trump. 12 more Republican Senators said Trump was guilty but were afraid to damage their political careers. If those 12 had not been chickens, the vote to convict would be 7 + 12 + 50 D's. That is 69 votes. 67 votes were needed to convict.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Countdown to Impeachment 2021!

This is another completely dead topic, unless anyone thinks Nancy* and the Dems* are going to york out another impeachment this year.

Though I do want to comment: now that the 'out-of-office' barriers have been broken, this last Dem* stunt does give rise to some questions - what is the statute of limitations on impeachment? Might this be a topic in 5 years? Or could this be an annual event? Since impeachment isn't a trial per se, can a dead president be impeached?

Given this precedent, the potential absurdities abound now, for BOTH sides to take advantage of!

I think it's high time Democrats get off their ass and impeach Nixon finally.

Just heard that WaPo published a retraction the last few days.

The phone call to GA Election Investigator, where lying claims were made of what he said. The Investigator recorded the call, then she denied it, and then she tried to delete it, but was too incompetent - and it was found intact in her trash bin of her device.

So WaPo had lied about the entire thing, fabricated it out of whole cloth.
Then NBC "News" announced that they had CONFIRMED that the lie was the truth.
Then ABC "News" announced that they had CONFIRMED that the fabrication was the truth.
Then PBS announced that they had CONFIRMED that the lie was the truth.

Wasn't part of this lie used in the Articles of Impeachment? Fake Inciting, Fake Murder, Fake riot, Fake Trump followers, Fake Intimidation, Fake phone calls.

No wonder the non-disillusioned refer to it as the Fake Impeachment.

Yep, RINO Romney did quote this as an excuse to vote to convict Trmp.
Also Sass and Toomey.

And although my post yesterday was days after it happened, and The Rush Limbaugh Show has been covering this important News daily since it happened, after I posted this yesterday, the following thread popped up:

Trump also helped Putin discredit American democracy. That was a major goal of Russia’s 2016 and 2020 operations, the report explains: “Throughout the election, Russia’s online influence actors sought to amplify mistrust in the electoral process by denigrating mail-in ballots, highlighting alleged irregularities, and accusing the Democratic Party of voter fraud.” Trump peddled the same fears. After the election, as “Russian online influence actors continued to promote narratives questioning the election results,” Trump duplicated that message. Russia’s agents also hyped “allegations of social media censorship,” as Trump did.

The IC assessment doesn’t address what Trump knew about the Russian influence campaign. But according to former officials who spoke last fall to the Washington Post and the New York Times, he was directly warned. In a December 2019 conversation, then–national security adviser Robert O’Brien told Trump that Giuliani had been “worked by Russian assets in Ukraine.” Trump shrugged and went on promoting the allegations Giuliani was feeding him. That makes Trump more than a Russian asset. It makes him, in technical terms, an agent of a foreign power.

A New Report Adds Evidence That Trump Was a Russian Asset
He helped Putin manipulate the U.S. election in 2020, as he did in 2016.

Donald Trump was a tool in a long-running Russian campaign to weaken the United States. That’s been documented in Republican-led investigative reports, and now it has been updated with new evidence, thanks to the U.S. Intelligence Community’s assessment of the 2020 election. The report, drafted by the CIA, the FBI, and several other agencies, was released in unclassified form on Tuesday, but it was presented in classified form on Jan. 7. In other words, it was compiled, written, and edited during Trump’s administration. It destroys his lies about the election, and it exposes him as a Russian asset.

The report debunks conspiracy theories, promoted by Trump and his lawyers, that hackers in other countries robbed him of victory. “We have no indications that any foreign actor attempted to interfere in the 2020 US elections by altering any technical aspect of the voting process,” including “ballot casting, vote tabulation, or reporting results,” says the document. A separate analysis released by the Department of Justice reaches the same conclusion. The IC report adds that evidence of such operations, if they existed, would have shown up in U.S. surveillance or in “post-election audits of electronic results and paper backups.” The report implicitly mocks insinuations from Trump’s lawyers that former Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, who died in 2013, somehow rigged Trump’s defeat. “We have no information,” it notes drily, that “current or former Venezuelan regimes were involved in attempts to compromise US election infrastructure.”

During the campaign, Trump, his national security appointees, and his allies in Congress insisted that China was meddling in the election to help Joe Biden. They even claimed that China’s interference was more dangerous than Russia’s. The report shreds that fiction. China “did not deploy influence efforts intended to change the outcome of the US Presidential election,” says the assessment. It finds no attempt by China to “provide funding to any candidates or parties,” and it challenges the Republican spin that China feared Trump because he was too tough. It argues, to the contrary, that Beijing saw Trump as a weaker adversary because he “would alienate US partners,” whereas Biden “would pose a greater challenge over the long run because he would be more successful in mobilizing a global alliance against China.”

As to Russia, the report leaves no doubt: In 2020, as in 2016, “President Putin authorized, and a range of Russian government organizations conducted, influence operations” to help Trump and hurt his Democratic opponent. For example, “Shortly after the 2018 midterm elections, Russian intelligence cyber actors attempted to hack organizations primarily affiliated with the Democratic Party.” Then, in late 2019, Russia’s military intelligence service, the GRU, “conducted a phishing campaign against subsidiaries of Burisma holdings, likely in an attempt to gather information related to President Biden’s family.” Throughout the 2020 election, agents “connected to the Russian Federal Security Service,” FSB, planted negative stories about Biden. Internet operatives working for the Kremlin, including the troll farm that had boosted Trump in 2016, continued to promote “Trump and his commentary, including repeating his political messaging.”

Attacks on Biden and his son, Hunter, were part of this operation. Through “US officials and prominent US individuals, some of whom were close to former President Trump and his administration,” the report says Russia’s intelligence services “repeatedly spread unsubstantiated or misleading claims about President Biden and his family’s alleged wrongdoing related to Ukraine.” In this way, Trump’s circle “laundered” the Russian-planted stories, which were then recirculated—and promoted by Russia’s online proxies—as American news.

One section of the report zeroes in on two Russian agents, Andriy Derkach and Konstantin Kilimnik, along with their associates. It says they met with and passed materials to people linked to the Trump administration to advocate for government investigations. Derkach peddled audio recordings that were edited to make Biden look corrupt, and he “worked to initiate legal proceedings in Ukraine and the US related to these allegations.” The report doesn’t name the Americans who collaborated with the Russian agents, but it’s easy to identify them from news reports. Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, met with Derkach twice. Donald Trump Jr. promoted Derkach’s tapes. Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, Paul Manafort, gave Kilimnik inside information on the campaign. Trump, in a 2019 phone call, pressed Ukraine’s president to open an investigation of Biden, as Derkach proposed. And congressional Republicans, led by Reps. Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes, parroted a Russian-planted narrative “to falsely blame Ukraine for interfering in the 2016 US presidential election.”

Trump is only 1 man giving the 74,222,958 Trumptards who voted for him what they want. Trump is easy to handle, but 74,222,958 crazy and fake people will do horrendous damage to the economy and 81,283,098 patriotic and real Americans.
