There seemed to be little about America that James T. Hodgkinson agreed with. He had a hero, Bernie Sanders. But his enemies seemed to be endless.

To the former Illinois home inspector, Donald Trump and his whole family were traitors who needed to be imprisoned. The Republican Party was worse than terrorists. The wealthy were a corrupt oligarchy that needed to be shattered. On post after post on Facebook, Hodgkinson sounded off on the crisis facing the country, only to see his posts mostly met with silence from his friends.

I always think it's very irresponsible reporting when newspapers tie things like this to somebody's political affiliation. I didn't like it when they tried tying that guy who killed the two men on the bus a week or two ago to Trump (when he was actually a Bernie supporter), and I don't like it now.

(Just in case anyone was wondering, when nearly all the polls including Fox News was showing Clinton leading before the election the LA Times was one of the few that consistently showed Trump winning by quite a lot).

I think as things progressively start getting harder for people as they have been for over a decade, we're going to see an increase in incidents like this. I don't believe it has anything to do with politics. It's the beginning of a new era of class warfare. Fortunately, everybody I know is still far from becoming this desperate, but there are a lot of desperate people out there who are continually getting screwed and their back is up against the wall.

True, dat.

Guy had been living in his vehicle for months.

Still, although frustration (or craziness) loads the gun, it's quite often politics that aims it.

Just like the Right Wing, Gestapo Nazi, KKK bastard that stabbed
those heroes in Portland, Oregon........Fucking Trump ignited something he can't extinguish. You can't put the genie back in the bottle.

And this is the result.....a sick individual gets his hands on a gun - he must have been given the AR-15 Special Sale price for "nut jobs" and crazies. Of course, you don't always need to shoot somebody. You could always hack someone to death with a machete, loads of fun. Just sneak up behind someone and "whack" - no more Nazis.

Of course, I would never recommend killing someone just because they have a different way of living. Funny thing I've noticed in all the years of war and violence - people, human people that is, all bleed red blood. Funny how that works.
Last time I checked, we all have two arms, two legs, 10 fingers and toes, two balls, etc. We all breath oxygen and we all need to eat food to live. And the first peoples to live on this earth were from a region in Africa.

American Natives!

You know Six, you actually said something sensible. But we need to take a look as to where the problem lies. Who invented this class and who benefits from having folk slug it out?

Think about it carefully. Class warfare. People fighting for scraps against another poor slob who's only trying to feed/clothe/house his family. Who controls all of that?

I think TPTB are purposefully herding us toward that class warfare as they calmly sit back and count their money. We are nothing but Cannon Fodder to them, the 1%

You, my friend, have said a mouthful.

And so have you, SHINY. Despite our many disagreements, we agree on this.

"Politics" - Dem v GOP, women v men, gays v straights, nonwhite v whites .... these are nothing but diversions, designed to get us all fighting each other along so many lines that we will NEVER look up to see who's pulling the strings. It's politics of divisiveness.

We need to agree on what we can (almost) ALL agree on. (I make that exception because there are always those psychopaths in society who want power over everybody; I assume that most of the rest of us don't want that.)

So, what can we mostly all agree on? What direction should America be taking? Because unless we set goals that we can hang on to when the 1% is trying to disrupt our effectiveness, we'll just never get ahead.

I'm glad we're (mostly) on the same page.

I want you to sit on this one and think about it for a while though.

I know that the answer you want me to give is that the Republicans are at fault here.

I don't know a single Democrat that is in power that is not benefiting from this class warfare just as much as the Republicans are.

Both sides speak to certain people. Some of it is right, and some of it is wrong. I probably agree with almost as much stuff that the left agrees with as the right doesen't. And I probably disagree with almost as much stuff that the right disagrees with that the left agrees with.

Take a step back and look at the last 16 years plus going on 6 months. I'm talking big picture, real life stuff here. Not the "Hopey Changey Make America Great Again" bullshit.

Can you honestly say that overall at any point was there any gains for the 99%?

You know something Rappy, sometimes I pull the trigger before I actually think about what I'm saying. I fully understand about hype, media manipulation and goading the crowd.

In that post you highlighted, I was venting some anger and I "pulled the trigger"
and before I knew it....there it was. But think about it for a moment. Well, there's always been racism and pent up anger by many within a certain group that goes around blaming all their woes on a particular group of people - be they Korean, Hispanic (and in the instant Mexican because of you know who), Black or
(also in the instant) Muslim.

Now, the media, all media not just the MSM, picks up on this "trend." They begin to "report" on those issues - be it Korean, Hispanic, Black or Muslim - so it seems that this "trend" is happening more than usual. I mention all of the above to illustrate a point. It doesn't matter who is filling in the blank (it could also be poor v. rich, employed v. unemployed, Dems v. Repubs, etc. That's where the focus gets placed. I am not going to argue with you on this because it only matters what we perceive, well to TPTB. For us, "just plain folk" we are being lead by the nose to draw up certain conclusions about our fellow sufferers...namely every Tom, Dick and Harry that lives to pay the bills and nothing more; that we need to stop - like the song says:

"I think it's time we stop children what's that sound,
everybody look what's going down.
There's battle lines being drawn,
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong."

-Buffalo Springfield, For What It's Worth, 1966

We need to stop, look around and think.....just for a minute

I put the onus on Trump because, as president, he is the leader (God help us) of the country. That's the way it's been for years, rightly or wrongly the world looks to us for that leadership. This because of the way we took and maintained our independence. We shook off those old bonds and established a new way of thinking, a new way of living life. And now we have this "new" mentality that
wishes to destroy that "way of thinking" and replace it with the old way - of kings and monarchs - except, of course, not in the royal sense - but that of greed, power and ultimate control.

How do you do that? How do you control millions of people all over the world? You keep them "busy," you keep them focused on something you can control. This is not the first time this has been tried in human history. But it is the first time for us in a very long time.

Exhibit A: Watergate
Exhibit B: Putin's interview with Megyn Kelly

A) Watergate - the actions taken between Nixon and Trump's low budget moves are eerily similar

B) As I watched Kelly's interview of Putin, I heard very similar speech patterns between he and Trump. Similar phrases used by both, just listen carefully and you'll see.

Putin does it by killing off his enemies and Trump does it by firing people, but it's in what and how they say things. Everything else is just a diversion, to keep us guessing. Smoke and mirrors. It is all manipulation, lies, half truths, untruths and misinformation. The middle class is being wiped out, welcome to the New Boss, same as the Old Boss. Money and power v. the poor (everyone else).

I know, it's hard to wrap your head around.

Any real criticisms of Trump would be taken much more seriously if there was a single day.... One Single Day that people weren't either claiming this was the end of the world, or that this is the worst thing to ever happen in America, or that he committed treason, or yada yada yada....

Forget for a moment the current narrative of Russia.

I'd like you to go back in this forum SGG. Check out the threads between November 9th and just the first month of Trump's presidency.

Not with Trump. He'll say three things on any one day, then on the next three days says the opposites. What he says is beyond meaningless.

You've gotten too mesmerized by chaff. That chaff has you searching for linguistic similarities between a Russian-speaking man brought up in a hard-scrabble life, and an English speaking New Yorker born into the nouveau-rich - and thinking that you've found something.

There's a phrase - you can see anything, if you use the right filter. Do you want to see red? Just put up that red filter. Do you want to hear music in white noise? Just put up a modulated filter. Or, to put it another way - if you look for something hard enough, you'll find it, whether or not it's there.

As for 'them' pitting us against each other, you're only partially right if you think it's limited to Trump and now, or to republicans for a while. A few shining examples aside (and getting fewer every year), democrats stopped representing you and me a long time ago.

Okay, set aside the Russian Collusion story.

Even setting that aside, he IS THE worst president going. How so? What has he really done to lead this country? Tell me, specifically......what has he done?

He keeps claiming that there's nothing there, but yet he's fired Comey, Yates and Bharara, all under the DOJ (Comey from the FBI) and why? If there is nothing there, then why not allow those folks to stay at their posts and complete their investigation, which is their job, and find out definitely that there is nothing there.

This would, once and for all, exonerate your majesty and clear his rotten good name.
Wouldn't that help his royalness!?

I don't need to go back and check out any threads. I know what they have been saying and what's being said in ALL media. I am invested because I live here too.
I've seen this movie before, with one huge exception, I understand more of what's going on. I don't need anyone to spell it out for me. I know that I am not going to change any minds here, nor are any of you going to change my mind. I see what I see.

And I'm a big enough boy to take it. I'm not falling to pieces because Trump is in office. But know this, he's not there for the United States of America, or for the good people that live here.

GWB was the worst president we ever had until Obama. Back to back two terrible presidents, and plenty of reasons why.

I haven't heard of anything that Trump has actually done that is worse than what those two knuckleheads did in the last 16 years. If Trump has done nothing, he's already doing better than they did.

Escalating our anti-Assad military actions in Syria. We don't even have any business being there.

Either Trump is ordering this to happen, or the neocons in the military have taken the bit into their teeth and are presenting Trump with a series of faits accompli and Trump is too weak to stop them. Either way, less war was one of the three critical reasons why I voted for Trump, and one broken promise that I couldn't stomach.

Russia has, over the past year or so, engaged in a series of de-escalation actions and instead issued a number of warnings. They're like skunks, which will warn you, over and over, that you're approaching a point of no return, before they let loose with their weaponry. So the situation hasn't escalated to the point of "worst ever" YET, but every day for the last four days something new has happened. Yesterday, an F-16 approached the Russian Defense Minister's plane on its way to Kaliningrad, and was warded off by an Su-27. Can you imagine the American shit-fit that would happen if a Russian fighter jet approached "Mad Dog" Mattis' plane as it flew over Venezuela?

War with Russia is what our chickenhawk friends here have been jonesing for since Trump was elected; let's hope this is one desire of theirs that isn't fulfilled.

Well, I've been getting an earful from YOU, haven't I? All you, KRAPO, THUGR, SGG, and JO have been doing is cranking up anti-Russian paranoia, really stupid shit. "Saddam's WMD"-level stupid shit. "Qaddafi massacring his own people"-level idiocy.

But that's you, GSTRING: You're too much of a coward to openly tell us what you think. Instead, you prefer to personally attack people from the safety of your bully-gang. Even setting that aside, he IS THE worst president going. How so? What has he really done to lead this country? Tell me, specifically......what has he done?

Setting the Russian Collusion story aside, how about you tell me, specifically, what has he done?

GWB was the worst president we ever had until Obama. Back to back two terrible presidents, and plenty of reasons why.

I haven't heard of anything that Trump has actually done that is worse than what those two knuckleheads did in the last 16 years. If Trump has done nothing, he's already doing better than they did.

How is Trump the worst president going? What has he actually done that is provable that would make you think that way?

I never said he was great.

I'm asking you what he has done to be the worst president. At worst, he's non-effective at this point... which is a large step up from the damage the last two presidents have caused in 16 years.

Seriously. The question keeps being asked, so it has to be a real thing...

How does one go about getting a job, being paid to post at forums?

That's like the perfect job for me.

This had zero to do w/ Trump. It's the antifa fucks who are mostly to blame, as well as the Democratic leadership.

Why do you lie so brazenly? Who do you think you're fooling?

Reichwing terrorism is, and has been, the #1 form of terrorism in the US for years. We've seen far right radicals killing, stabbing, beating, bombing, etc.

Never once has there been a single instance of antifa doing anything of the sort. Please, if you have any respect for this country or yourself, stop lying.

The pro-Hillary dirty-works team, who were recorded planning to incite violence at Trump rallies?

The violent anti-Trump riots at Berkeley?

Bernie-supporter "Reality Winner", who leaked classified info?

The many violent altercations initiated by "Antifa"?

Hey, goose sauce = gander sauce. If it's bad if one side does it, it's bad if the other side does it too.

Wow. Pure fiction, once again. Why do you support Nazis, and make up lies about the heroes who oppose them? Why do you support and defend Nazis?

Please, if you have any love for reality, get your head out of your ass. Times change, people change.

It used to be that liberals were peaceful, reasonable folk, but not anymore. Now they're just as crazed and lunatic as the right.

I saw that change here, on this very board, when I started criticizing Obama. MAL4, SECOND, GSTRING, THUGR ... they went all-in for personal attacks. Nary a reasonable discussion to be had among the lot of them.

Though I agree with the post, I didn't say that. Auraptor did.

I followed up Reaverfan's post with this:
