The expansion of the USSR's nuclear capability to Cuba almost triggered nuclear Armageddon.

The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis was great! I was in first grade and we got out of a lot of boring classwork by having to hide under our wood desks, which were guaranteed to be atom-bomb proof.
