Avengers Assemble! Director Joss Whedon Launches Hillary Clinton Super PAC with Star-Studded Video

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/joss-whedon-launches-super-pac-9

The director's organization, Save the Day, will encourage left-leaning groups to vote for Hillary through a series of comedy videos featuring A-listers including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Neil Patrick Harris.

Joss Whedon usually leaves the heroics for characters in his movies, but the Avengers director’s next project is battling what he believes could be a big threat in the real world.

Whedon has founded the pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC Save the Day and donated $1 million toward helping her beat Donald Trump in the presidential election. Instead of going on the defensive, Whedon is focusing on encouraging people to vote through a series of star-studded online videos. He’s hoping that these videos will resonate with several groups of people that are likely to vote for Clinton, including rural college-educated white women and groups that often have low voter turnout such as black men and millennials.

Shit, of course you matter. We've been telling you that for years rappy Now, when someone as dangerous as Trump is running for president, it would be criminal not to point it out.

I would vote for any one of those people in the picture over BOTH Trump and Hillary.
Hell, Joss for Pres. At least his State of the Union addresses would actually be entertaining.

I got a rich, white uncle who is a lawyer. He's a die hard Democrat. He came from a very poor upbringing and his Liberalism stems from his guilt for being so successful rich now and being able to put both of his daughters through college without help.

Sorry. I didn't watch the video. I knew it would just "trigger" me. :)

I have no desire to watch some of the most privileged people in the world speak for people who live in the depths that they will never know.

I'm glad Iron Man got his shit sorted out. He was always a brilliant actor. Then he started getting so deliriously drunk that he was found passed out on kitchen tables and even children's beds in strangers houses before he got the help he needed.

He seriously was the perfect casting for Tony Stark.

At my worst, I woke up one night in my back yard in my boxers, and another night I made a "bed" for myself with unused pipe insulation in my crawlspace and hit my head when I shot up and freaked out about where I was waking up.

My point is, I kept that shit to myself. I kept my problems to myself and, literally, my own back yard. I never made some random mom scream bloody murder when some strange guy was found passed out in her kid's bedroom after a bender which I'm guessing involved drugs I can't afford.

Hey. Joss. Jr..... The rest of you. Thanks for the movies and TV shows. Top notch entertainment.

As for your opinions? Go fuck yourself.

Period.

Good luck getting the vote out this year. Only 25 years or younger buys into your bullshit, and everyone that age hates Clinton, just like the rest of us.

You're pandering to the demographic least likely to give a fuck about anybody but themselves.

9 out of 10 of those voters you were banking on in that demograpic really wanted to make it to the polls, but they were too hungover. :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Sorry for you 6. I doubt most actors come from money. Your bias against them comes from your politics and therefore you are making dump assumptions. And even if they did. What would be wrong with them voicing their displeasure.

What displeasure?

Displeasure about what?

Displeasure that the world from their PEAK isn't entirely copacetic below them?

That's the only one I can assume.

The fact that the rest of the world has to live in the shit that they lived in before they were famous, and now that they have millions their hearts bleed from their podium and they can dictate and/or sway public opinion from it?

It's kind of fucking ironic that we even have to have these conversations since I think we can both agree that the Hunger Games were pretty Double Plus Good....

At least the first 2 movies were. After that it just might as well have been a Michael Bay Transformers 4 fuckfest...

But at least the first 2 movies were on point.

CNN "today" is Donald Sutherland from the first 2 Hunger Games Movies.

Fox News used to be the biased "bad guy", but if you look at the polls, they're pretty much keeping out of it and letting it play out.

CNN constantly censors "bad" thoughts spoken out loud by Hillary and Bill and even Obama. It's like listening to Homer Simpson telling himself to NOT say what he's thinking only to exclaim "DOH!!!!" 3 seconds later when he verbalizes it.

I guaranty you that any argument you can put up for Hillary, I can show you a reason that you would agree disarms it.

It's why the DNC is scared.

The same legitimate reasons can't be put up against Trump.

I saw a 6 minute clip of Seth Meyers talking about Trump.

It was scathing. It was witty, but it was full of bullshit.

That's why he's going to die off and Jimmy Fallon will probably be doing this for the next 30 years or more.

Seth picked a side.

He all but staked his life on that side.

That's another thread, but i could easily discredit more than 75% of his joke fest that night if we broke it down.

That again comes to Your problem. You are part of the Losing side this time.

Because nobody under 25 gives a fuck about Hillary except for the most die hard Feminists.

Nobody else is going to vote. Not like they did for Obama.

And you're up against a demographic of older people who have been taxed too much with no results, who have been marginalized, who watch as 100's of thousands of Muslim refugees come pouring into our country and we're sick of it.

The polls could say that Hillary had 70% of the vote today and I wouldn't believe it.

The rare occassion she actually goes out in public, she's lucky to have 3,000 supporters. Trump regularly fills arenas that are meant for NBA games.

Instead of fighting against Trump, why don't you join me in making sure that he actually does what he says he's going to do when he gets elected.

That's something that none of our Presidents since Reagan have ever done.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I wish I was stoned Wish. I haven't smoked weed for a long time since it's illegal and you can't be smoking if you want to get a job. Unfortunately, I'm OCD in a way where if I'm not smoking I need to be drinking or working out 40 hours a week. Sadly, I haven't converted that into working out 40 hours a week. It's just drinking here.

So.... no offence taken.

Have you really listened to the Rallys though?

I mean both of them. Both Trump and Hillary?

I asked my 86 year old Grandmother the same question and to her knowledge, even with cable TV and 24 news networks she doesn't believe she has access to uninterrupted coverage of the Rallys.

They're amazing to listen to.

I've even been watching 1 and 2 hour long sessions in congress. I haven't watched a single minute of TV or movies in about 2 months. It's amazing how entertaining it is to watch what goes on behind the OPEN DOORS that so many people think are closed because they don't pay attention to anything but Sound Bytes.

My point is, as I think you know, I used to hate on both of them.

My mind is changed.

Call me naive, but if you watch 3 or 4 of Trumps rallies I believe your mind will be changed as well.

He doesn't speak from a teleprompter. He doesn't have notes on his podium. He gets up there and speaks for 40 minutes or more from the heart. He also quotes a ton of facts that I wouldn't remember without using some serious Memory Games. Trust me, if his facts were wrong after he said them, you would have heard about them on CNN.

He's 70 years old and sharp as a tack. He's not the racist, mysoginst idiot you might think he is if you only listen to the media talk about him and dissect only 10 seconds out of 45 full minutes of speaking from the heart.

Among his tax plan to lower income tax, he wants to bring it back to a 3 tier system we had before, instead of the 7 tier system under Obama. He wants to introduce an Above the Line Tax Deduction for Child Care, which means that before you figure in all of your other deductions for the year, you can deduct 8k or so from your combined income if it was spent on daycare for your kids.

I haven't seen it spelled out fully, but he says that even stay at home moms would be able to deduct this from the family income as well (and I assume, my stay at home dad brother would be able to as well).

He'd also cap business tax at 15% instead of the current 35% in an effort to make America affordable again and bring business back to us instead of the current trend of 10's and even 100's of thousands of jobs leaving every year.

This Effort to make America affordable again is in hopes that we bring businesses back here and with millions of more jobs there is more taxes being generated through work at lower levels.

I don't know if it's possible, but if you actually go on his website and read about his plans, they seem feesable. This plan, if it was followed for 40 years it claims, will be able to pay of the entire National Debt.

C'mon Wish. You know me. I don't buy Snake Oil.

Maybe I'm just wishing on a prayer now...?

It's not as if I was going to do it anyway.

My plan 3 weeks ago was to give serious votes all the way up to state congress and I was going to vote for Ren and Stimpy for President and VP.

We live in Indiana, so I supppose I still could do that without any negative impact. Trump will win by a landslide here without my vote.

But for once I want to vote for "My President"

Your cynisism is noted, and I just hope that you don't get to tell me "I told you so."

It's been decades since anyone in America has really believed that America was great.

Maybe Trump is the wrong Donkey to pin the tail on, but there is no other choice.

JFK was great and he was murdered.

Reagan was great and he suffered an attempted murder.

George Bush Senior sucked and the Broccoli attempted to choke him.

Smooth sailing since then, huh?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

A week ago, a panhandler in Times Square sat holding a sign, “Give me a dollar or I’ll vote for Trump,” and people laughed and reached into their pockets. His bucket overflowed. He stuffed the bills into his jacket and other panhandlers looked at him with admiration.

The panhandler knows what every New Yorker knows, which is that the biggest con job since the Trojan horse is taking place in our midst. Millions of Americans are planning to cast their votes for a man who has lived his life contrary to all of their most cherished values.

Trump’s followers out on the prairie were brought up to be wary of slick-talking New Yorkers and here they are, falling right into line behind the biggest and slickest talker ever to hit the sawdust trail. It’s going to be an education for them.

Jack - If I can withstand the video, I think you could too. Yeah, there's some gratuitous condescending pandering going on, but there is also humor. I'm glad Nathan only shows up briefly, and doesn't really say much objectionable. Kinda funny, actually.

But I get it. Joss has worn his politics on his sleeve for ever. Which is why I think Firefly is so refreshing. He gives a great ' both sides have merit ' look at some issues. But he's far less of an ' independent ' in real life. I see Joss as more in line w/ the Alliance. Making us all... better.

The internationally famous Dalai Lama does a Donald Trump impression

The Dalai Lama has been asked for his views on Donald Trump during a TV interview, with surprising results.

Speaking to Piers Morgan on ITV's Good Morning Britain, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader said he had never met the US Republican presidential candidate, but could do an impression of him. You can see it at www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37443474

I agree, Joss leans toward Alliance.
My take that I posted on Firefly fan pages that claim no politics allowed; some folks agree, some don't:

An Open Letter to Joss Whedon and Browncoat Fans:

From the BDM SERENITY,
Teacher- With all the social and medical advancements we can bring to the Independents, why would they fight so hard against us?

River- We meddle. People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run don't walk we're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

TEACHER (gently taking her stylus)- River, we're not telling people what to think. We're just trying to show them how. (She violently PLUNGES the stylus into the girl's forehead)

Hey Joss, you are meddling. Joss has every right to whatever political opinion he chooses. But, just because he has the right to make a political ad disguised as a Public Service Announcement, doesn’t make it right. It is not a public service to call one candidate “a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society,” while conveniently omitting the glaring character flaws and criminally investigated actions of the other candidate. THAT is no longer a PSA, it is a commercial for one candidate based on slandering the other candidate. And Joss has committed 1 million dollars to his Political Action Committee. That money used to be MY money and YOUR money; money meant to reward the creator of something cool, and hopefully to create some more cool stuff. One million bucks would probably buy a pretty cool story set in the ‘verse, wouldn’t you say? I didn’t support Firefly with my money to be squandered in the service of a political hack, all of whom are already able to weasel more than enough funds to sustain their lives in the political arena.

Just because this inflammatory political rubbish came from the creator of an Intellectual Property we are fans of, doesn’t make posting said inflammatory political rubbish any more correct than if a fellow fan posted it. And Joss, just because your political ad might be perceived as “clever” or “witty”, doesn’t guarantee it is any less fictional than your more celebrated works.

Well Mike. I understand your point and further I agree that Hilary is a very flawed candidate. In this particular election though making sure Trump is not the next president of the United States is a moral imperative.

Then there is 1kiki who thinks, well, I cannot be sure what goes in that mind, other than Hillary is evil and will start WWIII with Russia. As for me, I am absolutely sure I don't want another Scalia-clone Supreme Court Justice. Trump will choose from a list of Scalia-clones, making my decision very easy. I didn't even have to write anything about Trump's personality, although he is a lying sack of Trump.
