In terms of election 2016?
Carbetbagger Clinton reportedly got about 1.2 million votes.
Brooklyn-born Bernie got about 700,000 votes
All of the GOP together got about 800,000 votes.
Trump alone got about 524,000 votes.

Trumpeteers and sTrumpettes have claimed that Trump is the only candidate on the GOP side who could win NY in the General Election. But he got far less than Bernie, and the GOP total got less than half of the Dem total. Does this not take away his argument?

And why should anybody campaign in NY at all? Why waste the time or money?
Dems look to take NY for granted - if they have 70% of the vote to start with, why spend any time or money there?

Why should ANY GOP candidate spend time or money there? If it is a known loser, wouldn't it be dumb to waste efforts there? NY should be a wasteland of the campaign map for 2016, much like California normally is, always going to the Dems. If Cruz is the 2016 candidate, CA could be in play.

It seems NY is out of play.

Or is there another view?

New York is a BLUE state, everybody knows this! Useless!? Really!?
I don't think so. Maybe for the republicans it's useless, go run home to
momma.

But the Board of Elections needs a desperate overhaul.

NY's deadline to register as a Dem or Repub came BEFORE the first debates on TV.

This means that some New Yorker who never heard of Bernie until the debates, then decided they wanted to register Dem to vote for him, is just SOL.

Bernie lost so badly at first because of rules like that and the virtual blackout when it came to covering him. Media studiously ignores him as much as they can.

Trump's own kids couldn't vote for him because of the ridiculous rules in NY.

If you could read the post, you could see that it meant useless, not in play, without influence, regarding the upcoming General Election for President.
Since it is not in play for the Republicans, hence useless and pointless to expend campaign resources upon, then it is also not in play for the Democratics, hence useless to expend campaign resources upon.

If you can comprehend that, is there any other viewpoint that is sensible?

This is sounding just like a sTrumpette - inability to read, or comprehend the rules, and then abide by the clear rules, ignorant of their responsibility, yet choosing to blame somebody else or whine about their misfortune of being illiterate.

There's also the fact of NY rules being made in such a fashion that anyone who doesn't pay attention to politics 24/7, then decides they'd like to participate, is in for a royal fucking. Don't forget that.

It's all about the status quo in the empire state.

There is no requirement to pay attention to politics 24/7. Merely to pay attention once every 4 years. That does not seem extraordinary.
More pertinant about the Empire State politics is that the liberal political party in NY is called "Republican" and the political party of socialism, communism, left wing extremism is called "Democrat" and any reasonable person right of center is registered in the "Conservative" party, which is why Cruz supporters cannot vote for him in NY Primaries. Cruz campaign knew this, and I have not heard his supporters whining ceaselessly about it. But if you think about the Cruz and Bernie situations in this state, it is bewildering to think the primary results of NY have any merit regarding campaign "surge" or "energizing" on the national stage - it is just about the microcosm of the New York Libtards - apologies for the redundant terms there.

In other words, you were making a statement and not asking a question.
Then that makes sense, coming from you.

No, because it's only been about a month that Trump got serious about running when he hired his new campaign manager. Instead of playing with
the lint in his belly button, he could have guided his children, like a good father should, and actually read the rules and procedures of running
for office.

But Nooooooooooooooo, blame everyone else is the name of the game.

Just think if he would have gotten rid of Lewandoski long ago, maybe he totally crushes the other two clowns, Cruz and Kasich, by now.

And don't get me started on the Feel the Bern followers. The guy was an independent and registered himself as a Democrat because of primary rules and regs. Doesn't it stand to reason that you, as his supporter, must do
the same? Then again, Sanders needed to inform his supporters that they needed to follow his lead; namely register as Democrats in a timely
manner. No, both Sanders and Trump were busy soaking in the limelight
vomiting up speeches that they recorded and placed on a loop. A rigged
election.........HA! More like sabotaged from within their own camps.

When I voted, I walked in, gave them my name and voted - easy peasy! So
did everyone else in that precinct. It ran like clockwork. It took me
all of 10 minutes. The NY Board of elections is an utter mess, but
nothing that can't be fixed.

Wow, I'm being educated here. Thanks JSF - up is down, left is right.
Got it!

NY Libtards run this town, and NY is useless in regards to the National
election. Hmmm. So then why did the candidates spend all that time, money and effort wooing NY? (This aught to be good).

As far as Cruz is concerned; I have 3 words for his debacle (ready!?)
NEW YORK VALUES (said in the same tone and manner as Show Me the Money).

Bernie: Sure he was born in Brooklyn, but he left for greener pastures
in the land of Oz. Like Trump, Clinton lives here (well, in the burbs;
close enough). NYers hate panderers. Speaking of extremes, and racists
ones at that - Trump. Like Kasich, he's a low budget phoney baloney
(That's a new political term).

In this town money talks and bullshit walks; so in Trump's case he's
pulled off the double whammy......Ha! I kill me!

Yesterday was the "Super Tuesday 3" Primary, also know as the "Puppet States of New York" or the "New York Suburb States" elections - for Chicagoans, this would translate as "Suburbs and Parkland."
Who could guess that New Yorker Trump or New Yorker Hiliary would win a bunch?
The Donald seems to think this is great, copying the Plan to Fail of Romney. All of these states are blue, none will vote for Trump in November, so they are all throwaway states, just like New York.
Trump still has another throwaway state in New Jersey, but like others have said - who cares?
