Poland has issued an official apology for its right-wing MEP, who, in an ill-considered attempt to compare the EU policies to those of Nazi Germany, referenced an infamous Nazi slogan, “Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuehrer,” in front of the EU Parliament.

Addressing the EU Parliament earlier this week during the debate on the German-led motion to introduce integrated ticketing for travel across EU borders, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, leader of the Coalition of Polish Republic's Renewal Freedom and Hope party, made a Nazi salute as a sign of objection to the German proposal.

Addressing the chamber in English, he lectured the EU lawmakers about diversity, pointing out that “all the time if there is voting, we are voting for the unification of everything.”

Then, raising his hand in the Nazi salute he said: “This time it is, Ein Reich, ein Volk, ein Ticket,” in a play of words referring to “Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuehrer” (One People, one Empire, one Leader).

The incident caused an uproar in Polish and European media, forcing Poland’s Foreign Minister to apologize in his country’s name for the right-wing Polish MEP.

Assuming this is true, I wondered about the labeling of Korwin-Mikke as "right-wing". It seems to me that he was using Nazis as a NEGATIVE example. Wouldn't that place him as outside of the right wing?

The general trend in the Brussels is to call ANY Euroskeptic "right wing", whether they're a real right-wing or not. And meanwhile, those (in Ukraine) who openly fight under Nazi symbolism (the swastika and wolfsangel) are called freedom fighters.

Seems to be a weird kind of political-correctness going on in Brussels (and the banks which profit off the EU).

Are you talking American right-wing or Yurpeen right-wing?
For a long time the characteristics of political spectrum in Europe were the opposite of that in America. The age of the internet and free communications has muddled all of the definitions.

However, the example you use is the same. The right wing in America is opposed to Hitler and Nazis, opposed to libtard practices of Nazis.
Libtards (aka Democrats) and Nazis both love gun registration like the most successful gun registration system in history - the Nazis.
Libtards and Nazis both love to strangle the free speech rights of anybody they don't agree with. Libtards and Nazis are the utmost intolerant this way.
Libtards at the time like Neville Chamberlain were in such a rush to capitulate to Hitler and his Nazis.
Libtards like FD Roosevelt only won in 1940 by campaigning to let Hitler and Nazis alone, keep America Isolated from any chance of interfering with the Nazis, let the Holocaust be ignored and Nazi warmongering be tolerated.
In America it is the libtards of the Left Wing who celebrate the oppression and intolerance of any who speak the truth that libtards deny, share facts that libtards deny, insist upon the registration of guns owned by any law abiding citizen, insist upon rampant uncontrolled debt and deficit, insist upon squandering our military resources on empty tents and imaginary foes, and using the eugenics of abortion like the Nazis adored. Racist Democrat policies to subjugate blacks, prevent them from emancipation, keep them segregated, prevent them from voting might be derived from Nazi goals and practices, but the Racist Libtard Democrats have maintained the fight against blacks and equal rights long after Nazis were defeated, fighting all the way against honorable Republicans who freed the slaves, gave them voting rights, ended segregation, and everything else Nazis despised.

Any reasonable person would consider the Nazis to be a negative example, making them right-wing. By Yurpeen spectrum standards, perhaps this would make him left wing, but by American spectrum standards, he is firmly right-wing by those statements.

In a country that was so horrendously brutalized and decimated by the Nazis, it's completely insane, and in extremely despicable taste to compare anything, much less fiscal policy, to the Nazis.

He's not Right Wing or Left Wing. He's Psych Wing.

Although I suppose that if anyone has the right to use the comparison, it would be an elderly Polish man, who probably witnessed some of the brutality of the Nazis as they retreated from Poland.

But that brings up another question, I guess. People throw around the word "Nazi", "fascist", and "right wing" rather cavalierly, and I wonder what they mean by that.

I know I've gotten PIRATE'S Nazi-communist-Jewish-British-American-Mason-Templar-conspiracy interpretation ...

And JSF'S interpretation that anyone who isn't an American right-winger is a Nazi (or Nazi-lover ... and I intend to get back to that when I have more time, because it raises all kinds of interesting questions for me)...

But unless you're willing to lump all of "them" into one giant conspiracy, surely there must be SOME distinction being made somewhere. So, what does this all mean to you?

You can't build a nation with bombs. You can't create a society with guns.
