I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

However, cooperation has not been cleared from the Iran side.

Now I'm convinced that Obama sees ISIS as a threat. I'll know that the USA is REALLY serious when they ally with Russia against ISIS.

It's been an open question for me how much the USA has been encouraging/ funding ISIS behind the scenes ... or at least benignly ignoring it. The reason is because ISIS is, in some ways, a USA creation... by allowing Saudi Arabia and Qatar to competitively flood Libya with (literally) tons of weapons, providing arms transshipment points from Benghazi, Libya to Syria, and by training various radicals under Jordan's aegis, we allowed and encouraged the development of ISIS as well as the development of al Qaida.

It's not entirely out of the question that we would fund jihadists, after all, we funded the "mujahideen" in Afghanistan (and boy, did THAT come to bite us in the ass!) and Saudi Arabia has been funding al Qaida for decades.

But in looking at the estimated makeup of ISIS, there are not only a lot of Jordanians (thanks, King Abdullah II!) and Tunisians, the third largest group is Chechens.

Now, you may recall that right before Sochi, Bandar "Bush" bin Sultan ("director general of the Saudi Intelligence Agency from 2012 to 2014.") threatened Putin with turning on the Chechen terror spigot if Putin did not agree to a joint world oil-takeover. Apparently, Bandar "Bush" bin Sultan felt he had some sort of authority over Chechen terrorists.

Shortly afterwards, Putin went to visit Saudi Arabia, as did Obama, and in July of this year Bandar bin Sultan was put out to pasture... er.... " On 1 July he was appointed King Abdullah's special envoy"

I wonder if ISIS was Bandar's special project, which got out of control and earned him a special spot in the middle of nowhere?

Barry has to put boots on the ground, bombing won't do shit, but Barry isn't going to send in troops. Barry can reach out all he wants, but NO ONE wants to follow him. ISIS will do as they please for now.

Oh, and Syria. If Obama reaches out to Assad, that will be a true measure of his concern.

Don't discount superior air power. Air power coordinated with OTHER boots on the ground would be effective.

That's assuming other countries don't have concerns of their own about ISIS. They might act in their own interests, especially if joined by others. Or they might snub Obama b/c of all the shit he's pulled. I suppose it depends which is greater - their fear or their hate.*

* Please note this is a shorthand expression for a larger and more complicated consideration.

America loves a winner!

We had to deal w/ Stalin to defeat the NAZIS. Well, 'had to', since Hitler stuck a knife in the Commie's back, so that kinda made things easier in the choice dept.

Funny how Obama has gone from calling ISIS the "JV" squad, not having a plan - yet, to courting Iran.

Dude's all over the place.

By the way, Rick Perry says it's entirely possible that ISIS is in the U.S. now.

Maybe he thinks they flew some of those Libyan airplanes that aren't missing...

Isn't it refreshing to have a THINKING POTUS rather than a gunslinger. This whole mess, as some may conveniently forget, was started way back there in 2001 when a certain president pointed his crooked little finger at Iraq - you know, after a bunch of Saudis got a hold of some planes.

I mean, naturally you attack those responsible, and everyone knows Saddam had WMDs.
And to think all this wouldn't be happening right now without that brilliant war in Iraq. The strategy then was perfect, get Saddam out and everything would be hunky dorry. RIGHT!

But, here we are. Now back up and let a real president handle things. The coalition of armies is inevitable, and makes sense for those in the region to follow Obama's lead because it's in their best interest. They don't cooperate - fuck 'em! Let them handle those crazy bastards and see how far they'll get without our superior air power. Either that or nuke 'em all and be done with it.
