...when I saw a story that a white man, and not just an ordinary citizen, but a public official, not only claimed to own a family heirloom fashioned from the skin of a black man lynched in 1896, but also specifically told African American residents of Algood, TN (that is actually the name of the town, I swear on the spirit of the Flying Spaghetti Monster) in order to intimidate a young black man from filing a complaint against the Algood Fire Department because its Deputy Fire Chief had refused to give his mother CPR, which might have saved her life, because she was, well, BLACK!!!! (excuse the all caps, but I find them appropriate in this instance), why, I just had to ask.

Apparently, the answer to my question is a man named "William Sewell,"a long time medical investigator with the Tennessee Department of Health. Here's the rest of the story:

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

OMG this is just unbelievable.

America loves a winner!

Never heard of such a thing, outside of stuff the NAZIS did.

Horrific.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

So, does racism still exist?

Maybe he'll grow out of it.

I used to collect Baseball cards thinking I'd strike it rich and wasted most of the money I got as a youth on worthless cardboard.

He's got the best of both worlds. Right Before he finally grows up, he can probably sell that thing on ebay to another idiot for more than any Derek Jeter rookie card would ever be worth.

Anyone who was able to sit through the sequel to the Silence of the Lambs has little room to talk anything bad about this guy.

How could you watch that all the way through? What could possibly make an otherwise well-adjusted human being watch that without voluntarily shutting it off?

As some of you know, I have one of the coolest Grandmas. She saw Pulp Fiction years before I first saw it. She's also only the 2nd person I've ever known who shut down on Hannibal. She was in the theater and walked out on it. Being the oldest living relative from the line of squeezing every last ounce of strength from a dollar, I'm amazed at that.

Why would anyone willingly fill their head with that?

As the great Bender once said, "once you watch it, you can't unwatch it!"
