Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Weird; not here. We're cruising nicely in the high 70s, tho' we'll go all the way up into the mid 80s by the weekend (yuck!) Even LA is staying in the 70s for the next few days--and they had DRIZZLE forecast for this morning! What a reverse!

Sorry Easterners and those North of us, I shouldn't joke at your expense. Have things gotten any better for any of you "over there"? I sure hope so!

On the other side of the country, Oregon and Washington braced for another sizzling day.

Portland, Oregon, set record highs Wednesday and had a chance to do it again Thursday as a high of 99 was forecast. The record for the day is 98 degrees, set in 1952, according to meteorologist Nick Allard of CNN affiliate KGW-TV.

Some Portland residents found shady spots for outdoor lunches. Others headed straight to fountains.

Employees at a Portland drug store reported furious sales of fans and air conditioners, slow sellers so far this year. Susan Simpson, manager at Hollywood Rite Aid, told KGW that she expected her shelves to quickly empty of the remaining stock of fans.

"People in Oregon aren't used to that hot of weather, so they need to get something to help them through it," she said.

My heart does go out to our Northern neighbors...they truly AREN'T used to this kind of heat and must be suffering almost as much as those in the East.

LITTLEBIRD

Yep, it's hot here in the Portland area. We have fans going, drinking lots of liquids and not moving around to much today. Lots of news advisories about staying hydrated and such. Some cooling centers have opened up for those that need it. Not your standard summer for around here. Heck, a little over a week ago it was in the low 60's and raining every day. We were calling it Juneurary. I like having the sun out finally, but these 30 degree jumps in temperature in such short periods of time is somewhat exhausting. We're wilting around here.

Happy to not have the humidity they have back east though.

Poor Little Bird...you have my sympathy, especially because YES, you live in "my kinda country"...lots of rain, fog and cold! It IS nice not having their humidity tho', isn't it? I think I'd just curl up and die if I had to endure some of what those poor folks are. You take care, y'hear?

We're forecast to go all the way up to 81 here today...still too hot for me, but still...

How about you guys, Mal4 and DT? I have you down as living in New York State...you having to deal with this shit? I sure hope not, or at the very LEAST have AC and haven't been hit by brownouts!

Gawd, she's so gorgeous...sigh...there are no words except "gawd, she's so gorgeous"...

I wish she WERE on our Coast..."I would walk 500 miles..." (if I knew where she was)

Liked her hair long better, tho'...made her look more unusual...
