Are you a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the Series and/or Firefly? Would you like to share your love for these shows with others?

The Whedonverse Multimedia Project seeks to bring these shows to public libraries and other charitable organizations that have requested them for their collections. All funds donated to the Project (minus Paypal’s fees) go toward providing these materials. So far the Project has provided materials to libraries in 9 different cities and there are currently 9 more places on our waiting list.

Soon, your donation dollars will go even further than they have in the past.

A very generous fan has issued a challenge to his fellow Whedonverse aficionados, if fans can raise $200 from July 1 – 15, he will match it with a $200 donation of his own. “I am doing this because I really believe in this project,” says the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous. The fan has been a strong supporter of the Project ever since the early days of the campaign and hopes to encourage other fans to participate in any way they can.

There are a number of ways fans can help:

• Make a financial contribution to the Project.
• Donate items directly your local library, youth program, hospital or other charitable organization.
• Download one of our flyers and print it out to hand-out or post on bulletin boards.
• Share news items posted on the site with other Whedon-related fan groups.

Anything fans can do to help is appreciated. Many of our donations are in amounts as small as $5. In addition, several fans have chosen to participate by donating books and other items they already had on hand to the library in their local community and listing them in our online tally. Simply getting the word out to other fans is an extremely beneficial and affordable way to lend us a hand.

By working together, we can show support and say thanks to Joss Whedon and all the writers, cast and crew who brought the shows to life.

JOSS UPDATED ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Whedonverse Multimedia Project sent Joss an update on our progress. The last time he heard anything from us, assuming he got the card, was the announcement that we donated a complete set of Buffy, Angel and Firefly to a library in New York City in his honor. That was six months ago. So, we had a letter sent out to him via his talent agent to let him know how things are going. We also included birthday messages from fans. Here's the letter: http://www.whedonverse.org/letter-to-whedon.pdf

Note: All address information has been removed from this public copy of the letter.

FANS HAVE FAITH

A card will be sent to Eliza Dushku via her management to let her know about the Project and the fan donations made in honor of the character Faith. The card will include a message saying how much fans loved her as Faith, that we hope to see the character again one day, and that we wish the best for her and her career. More details will be provided as soon as the arrangements have been finalized.

Congratulations to Teresa, she's the lucky winner of the Faith raffle. She loves the character and hopes to see Faith on screen again some day! She'll be seeing a Faith action figure in her mailbox real soon.

DONATION CHALLENGE

A very generous fan has issued a challenge to his fellow Whedonverse aficionados, if fans can raise $200 from July 1 – 15, he will match it with a $200 donation of his own. So far, fans have raised $50.14! Thanks so much for your support!!!

WHAT TASK SHOULD THE PROJECT TAKE THIS FALL?

We're busily working on getting our donation packages together for the libraries on our waiting list and hopefully we'll be far enough along by this Fall to do something a little different in addition to what we've accomplished so far. For example, after we complete donations to the next two libraries we're going to do something a little different and get some care packages together for the soldiers over in Afghanistan and Iraq. Then we'll go back to working on the rest of the list. Once we're done with the current list, fans might be in the mood to do something else. Take our poll and let us know what you'd be interested in seeing us do next: http://jensforums.com/whedonverse/viewtopic.php?t=539

OTHER NEWS

Soon fans will have the chance to have Angel at home with them. Our next raffle will be for a Sideshow Angel action figure. We'll also have an interview with a fan about a Buffy/Angel movie campaign.

Members of the Whedonverse Multimedia Project will be at the Angel Booster Bash at the end of this month!!! I look forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as making some new friends.
