Fan Finds Serenity

Congratulations to Kara - the winner of the "Find Serenity with Firefly" raffle - she will be getting Firefly the complete series on DVD and a copy of the book Finding Serenity.

Whedonverse decided to ask Kara a few questions now that she's found Serenity.

What made you decide to enter the Firefly raffle?

It's all about spreading the Whedony word. The chance to win Firefly DVDs to share with newbies before our Big Damn Movie comes out was irresistible on it's own merits, but when the means of entry is contributing to the brilliant Whedonverse Library Project that I already support? Well, it just doesn't get much better than that. I've said it before: most of us are out evangelizing these shows one little convert at a time. You smarty pants have figured out a way to conquer whole cities at a time! How cool is that?

If you've seen Firefly before, who is your favorite character?

Oh, how can you possibly choose? I'd have to say River, followed closely by one Jayne Cobb. Now, that's a man with a big gun. : )

Have you been to any advanced screenings of Serenity?

I saw the second screening in Bensalem, PA and was simply blown-away. No little labor of love this...it's a magnificent, thrilling blockbuster. And the Jane Austen-loving, Whedon-virgin I dragged along with me demanded that I supply her with Firefly DVDs the next morning, so I've got a good feeling about this...and now I have DVDs for the sharing. Yay!

Do you plan to see Serenity when it comes out later this year?

Over, and over, and over. With everyone I love, and hell, maybe even with every one I've ever met. In Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and maybe even Minnesota. : )

How long have you been a Whedon fan?

I came in late...Buffy Season 5. I lost a bet with some guys at work, and since I had repeatedly mocked their television habits and declared their "little vampire show" "ludicrous" and it's broody spinoff "unwatchable," my payment was to watch three Buffy episodes and write a book report. And the rest is history.

Were you familiar with the Whedonverse Multimedia Project prior to learning about the raffle?

As I said before, I'm a HUGE fan of this well thought-out campaign. Libraries. Whedon. Community. You've hit the sweet spot, Jennifer. Well done. Thanks again for offering this exciting prize! It's prize enough to just join your cool efforts, but this? This is just sweet gravy...

Whedonverse would like to thank Kara and all the other generous fans out there who have lent their support.
