For those of you who don't know who Jim Butcher is, he is the author of a great series of books called the Dresden Files.

Anyways, I am currently reading the latest installment "Dead Beat" and a few lines of dialogue really made me go "wait a minute!"

So far the lines I noticed were:

From "Dead Beat"---> "Listen to me! We are not going to die!" -Harry
"We're not?"- Butters
"No. And do you know why?...Because Thomas is too pretty to die." -Harry

Sounds alot like Firefly "Serenity"---> "We're not gonna die, Bendis!... We are just too pretty for god to let us die!" -Mal (sorry if the quote isn't exact)

From "Dead Beat"---> "That's the worst part about the walking dead... the stains." -Harry

Sounds alot like Buffy "When She Was Bad"---> "Thats the worst part about being hung upside down by a vampire that wants to slit your throat... the stains." -Jenny

Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but those quotes happened within pages of each other and it was making me wonder.

I'm not too sure. After all, Harry also used Polka as a reason to live in this one too. I don't think Joss have ever mentioned that.

Yeah, Butcher did use polka too. "Polka will never die!" Laughed out loud at that one.

I got to thinking about it and Butcher did use James Marsters (AKA Spike) as the Audio Book reader. So maybe he is. I don't know. Now I want to re-read the entire series to find any more similar lines.

Jim Butcher is more of a JJ Abrams uberfan, but he certainly knows his Joss. If you go to the website www.jim-butcher.com, you can subscribe to the Harry Dresden mailing list. Jim Butcher posts frequently. There are usually many Buffy/Angel/Firefly threads going on at any given time, and Jim has proven that he knows just about every detail from those shows.

It's a pretty good mailing list if you're into those sort of things. If you like books and are a genre TV fangeek then you'd fit right in.

I noticed that line, about being too pretty to die, when I read the book, and thought the same thing. Harry would be a Malcolm Reynolds fan for sure. Love that series, hope it goes on for many more volumes.
